KHC Helmet FOV add-in  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)
Version: 1.4.0
by: Khrill [More]
--For RP players-- FOV helm texture added in first person view
You've dreamed on it... here it is
or another mean to play ESO

IMPORTANT : It's not a standalone addon; You need the main addon Khrill Helm Control to activate this.

Note: This addon uses texture files from TESO Oblivion's addon, Helmet FOV, with the authorization of the author XMarksTheSpot

Main functionnality :

When you're in first person view, when your helm is on your head, your field of view (fov) is reduced.
It doesn't hide the ESO interface and other addons (in any case, the ones I use).
In some situations, this visual effect is disabled, as in interaction sequence or on mount.
If you uses ImmersiveHorseRiding addon, you're now riding with your helmet ^^

By default, there is one texture for each armor type (heavy, medium, light).
But you can choose for your equipped helmet the fov texture which fit according to you; your choice is saved for all your account's characters.
You can change the zoom of the helmet's texture to fit your own vision of Helmet FOV.

The list of textures supports external package addons (see Optional files for an example with dds files made by RevenantSP1 & bica1974), as :
- REVENANTSP1's Light Armour Pack

Known problems :

- When on 1st person view, if you made the camera back a notch, the helm's texture do not disappear; because distance is the same :s.... and i don't find yet how to differentiate. => Force distance to 0 to resolve this case.
1.4.0 : - API 100015 compatibility (update 2.4)
- some improvements

1.3.2 : - fix bug (~uladz)
1.3.1 : - fix bug with AdvancedFilters
1.3.0 : - API 100014 compatibility (update 2.3)

1.2.0 : - API 100013 compatibility (update 2.2.4)

1.1.0 : - API 100012 compatibility (update 1.7.0)

1.0.6 : - add an option in parameter panel for changing texture's opacity (~requested)
1.0.5 : - add a default value for fov zoom for texture pack (RS1Light pack is now with the good default values for zooming ... at 100% ;))
- so each helmet has his own values of zooming (saved)
- minor bug fixes
1.0.4 : - fix bug with mouse Wheel's zoom out at maximum view (do not show helm in this case)
1.0.3 : - fix bug with mouse Wheel's zoom out
1.0.2 : - add new setting panel to change the zoom of helmet's texture
- a better management of mouse wheel (and so 1st person view) ^^
- add compatibility with ImmersiveHorseRiding addon
- bug fixes
1.0.1 : - add settings panel to choose the appropriate fov helmet
- bug fixes

@bica1974 & RevenanSP1 : i've included in next version a mean to register external pack of textures
So, you could make your own package, as an addon (as optionnal files of this one); there is only a list of all your textures to add in a text file (lua, i'm making an exemple to understand it).
Sounds great

Sights

Decided to make the sights even larger then before including a little more polishing.

Two reasons:

First - if one wear a helmet with sights, then the sights are usually relative near to the eyes, because the armorsmith want to make sure that the fighters field of view is as wide as possible. Subsequent effect is - the sights seems to widen in diameter.
You can observe this common feature on real great helmets from the middle ages. In almost all cases the upper part of the helmet slopes back to the forehead as soon as it passes the prominent nose part.

Second - its just the fun, as i said in my earlier posting. Fun over realism, or as many realism as possible but not at any cost.

Think its a really good feeling now fighting with this addon from Khrill and my sights.

Free for use to implement in this great Addon from Khrill or any other usage. Usage descriptions are in the earlier post.

One without FoV-blur and a golden glimmer around the sights, cause as a High Elf, my Armor looks like the sun itself - golden and shiny!
DDS Download: noblur.zip

And the same with a decent FoV-blur to simulate the inability of the eyes to focus on extreme near objects on the fringe of the FoV.

So that's my vision of the helm-sight for the helmet i'm actually wearing. I'd played around a little today and finally don't choose to make the exact original sight-shapes from the helmet as i'd initially planned.
At first glance it seems a good idea, but i'd tested it for a while and for my taste its to hart to see anything if the sights are as small as the original. It simply generates more frustration then fun.(at least with wearing a full enclosing great helm).
So i did choose the way in between, making the sight a little greater then the original, adding in a little metal looking polishing and that's it.
Make some battles since with this and what should i say: it's pure thrill!

This one is for a Heavy Altmer Orichalcum Helmet:

Any my ingame sight:

For the Autor of this great Addon and anyone else who want to use this:

heavyhelmet.zip

Just copy the dds file in the *\AddOns\KhrillHelmControlFOVaddin\Fov folder and edit the KhrillHelmControlFOV.lua file line 18 to the corresponding name of the dds file in the archive.

In a second time, I'll try to make my own textures (but i'm not graphist), but if someone is ready to do that, I think it will be useful for the RP community
I'll get started on the graphics - you get that coding done :P
Great news!

Great.

Hey, great idea! Thanks man!. Couple of days ago i'd told a friend i wish someone doing just this and there it is. Its a kind of magic. So again, big thanks for putting this little beauty together.

Concerns:
Nothing so far.

Ideas/Kind of Wishlist .
You'd writing it in the notes already that you plan certain improvements, but it would be nice to have more choices of appropriate "masks" for the different helm types, e.g. heavy helmets with enclosed eye-holes should have the corresponding whole enclosure visible in the ego perspective.
Actually i've get a "north/norman" style helm view in ego perspective, where the lower part of the helmet is open, for the "heaume" or "great helmet" I'm wearing, which has only small eye-slits and the complete lower half of the helmet closed. Hope you get the picture.

Anyway, its already a great improvement of immersion, keep it up!
