RaidNotifier Updated  Updated less than 3 days ago!  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)
Version: 2.2.9
by: Kyoma, memus
Tired of not seeing certain effects in raids? Having trouble looking at the boss to see if he's about to do a mechanic? Or are you just lazy and want something to do most of the work for you? Then this is the addon you seek! Never be caught offguard so you can put your focus on things that are more important.

Description
Originally created by Silentgecko this addon started out with a few alerts but has since grown to huge proportion. Ranging for alerts that let you know there's a certain effect on you to alerts that warn you about an incoming hit. It's almost as if you can see into the future! Now of course there are still things you will need to look out for yourself but hopefully Raid Notifier will ease some of the burden.

Ultimate Exchange
This feature is still considered beta and if you are experiencing problems with it you can disable it to prevent issues or conflicts with other addons with a similar feature.

Through the use of sirinsidiator's awesome LibGroupSocket (see the page for more details) it is now possible to share your ultimate with the rest of your raid. When this feature is enabled in the settings menu it will turn on sending your ultimate values during trials only.

For now it displays people's ultimate as a percentage based on their warhorn cost but I plan to add support for other (relevant) ultimates. It does however, work with any ultimate cost reduction passive and/or sets and it doesn't matter if the person actually has warhorn slotted or not!

As a user/receiver you can configure to only show it for certain roles, like tanks and healers and have the option to colorize the text once it reaches certain thresholds (80% and 100%). The window can be dragged around and can be hidden for the user while still allowing that person to share his ultimate. More customization will come in the future.

Warning: Due to how it is currently written it will cause issues with other addons that use map pings to communicate (even the ones that also use LibGroupSocket) and will make it likely that you are kicked from the game due to hitting the message spam limit. From personal experience, when only using Raid Notifier's sharing feature I have never been kicked due to spamming.

Basics

Besides the ever-growing amount of warnings and alerts the addon also provides some other benefits during the raids. Things like disabling assistants at the start of combat or disabling vanity pets for the duration of the trial. It also features a simple but effective food buff tracker

Alerts
Each alert can have its own sound and many of them can be configured to display it for everybody and not just for you. You can see a full description for each alert in the settings menu. Of course each and every alert can be disabled

- Reverted changes to UltimateHandler.lua while I investigate issues.

2.2.7
- Fixed UI error when something died or was interrupted
- Fixed possible chat spam due to the ultimate sharing.

- The countdown from Taking Aim in HoF is stopped when the sphere is interrupted or dies before it finishes the attack.
- Fixed some logical issues with the Taking Aim settings which led to the countdown always appearing.

- Fixed some typos
- Moved DevMode setting to the top of the menu to make it easier to find.
- Removed DevMode for Serpent World Shaper.
- Ultimate window will now be hidden when you aren't grouped.
- Ultimate sharing will now be disabled when you leave a group and enabled again when you join a group. This is the actual sharing from LibGroupSocket, the setting from Raid Notifier will remain active until you leave a trial or turn it off manually.

- Actually added the Venom Injection status in HoF to the settings menu.
- Fixed glyph cooldown in Maw of Lorkhaj being in milliseconds instead of seconds.

- Changed the countdown for HoF's 4th boss to a configurable one. For now the default is 5 seconds but will be tweaked in the future.

- Added base code for status display of the spreading poison from trolls in Sanctum Ophidia (not actually implemented yet).

ultimateAbilityId

Hi guys,

RaidNotifier.lua file .. line 142 .... local ultimateAbilityId = 46537 --Aggressive Warhorn Rank IV
Where to find ID's for other abilities and/or ultimates?

Oh right. The same problem is with resource handler but there is no error msg provided. But still it is a good idea to make it compatible with libgroupsocket ultimate protocol for ppl who don't need RN but still want to use ultimate sharing feature.

In group tab, you can change LibGroupSocket to off
Disable ultimate to off in raid notifier settings.
or type in chat
/script RaidNotifier.Vars.ultimate.enabled = false
Actually in the previous version that wasn't enough since it was still trying to receive the pings sent by his addon, which then resulted in the debug/error code seen in the screenshot.

Obviously given the nature of the information sharing system, it's difficult to tell where the pings are coming from. I had intended to update my own addon to use LibGroupSocket (which hadn't existed when I first wrote it), but haven't had the time recently.

Yes, due to how LibGroupSocket (and its handlers) was originally written they automatically process data (and send if the LGS is enabled), regardless of the amount of addons using a handler, as soon as the files are loaded through an addon manifest. I have since changed my ultimate handler but hadn't had a chance to finalize some things so the update took way too long. Today's update should fix any issues as long as you do not have RaidNotifier's ulti exchange enabled (it is disabled by default). Note that this only applies to the ultimate handler, I haven't touched the already existing resource handler since I'm not the original author.

P.S. Yea your addon kinda pushed me over the laziness threshold to finally implement it. People (I'm raiding with) had been bothering me about it for ages now.

With dev2 version it printed Settings.lua -> start; CreateSettingsMenu(); Settings.lua -> end; without appearing in settings.
Ahhh that's actually really good news as looking at the code THAT particular error is from a typo. But I guess it will remain a mystery as to why it failed to work for you.

I did not, the last working version for me was 1.8.1, i was reverting back to it each time after attempts to make new version load.
From other information i can provide, my in game UserID does not contain any special characters, im using Windows 10 Pro 64 bit, my Windows user profile name also does not have any special characters nor spaces.
Alright, I've got some dev versions for you to try out. First is dev1, I've stripped the ultimate stuff so we can focus on the error with the settings. You should NOT get an UI error with it as I've added a few checks. Now....about 8-10 seconds after loading in it should print 2 lines in chat with like "Settings.lua ...".

Given your problem in your first post I'm expecting it to not show anything. Then proceed to "dev2". This time I've stripped the content of Settings.lua to see if the problem lies with . Same thing as before, it should print 2 lines again in chat after ~10 seconds. And an additional line when the addon initializes.

Note that these versions dont actually work in terms of functionality, the main purpose is to see how and why it doesn't want to load the files. Also, for the sake of safety a clean install of each dev version might be best.

1.9.1 UI Errors - Addon does not work at all

Just installed 1.9.1 by removing old RaidNotifier with game closed and deleting saved variables (aka clean install) then installed 1.9.1 using Minion

Now on launching game, addon settings do not show up at all (no entry in addon settings) and there is UI Error:
Code:
user:/AddOns/RaidNotifier/RaidNotifier.lua:143: Cannot find a library instance of "LibGroupSocket".
stack traceback:
	user:/AddOns/WealthEvaluator/libs/LibStub/LibStub.lua:29: in function 'LibStub:GetLibrary'
	user:/AddOns/RaidNotifier/RaidNotifier.lua:143: in function '(main chunk)'
It will point at every addon that also uses ""LibStub" (version 4), first it showed "Dulgbon Writ Creator". I disabled it and reloaded UI and now it shows "Wealth Evaluator". Disabling "Wealth Evaluator" and reloading and now same UI error but this time complaining about "Destinations".

Consequently, disabled every single addon but Raid Notifier for this:
Code:
user:/AddOns/RaidNotifier/RaidNotifier.lua:143: Cannot find a library instance of "LibGroupSocket".
stack traceback:
	user:/AddOns/RaidNotifier/libs/LibStub/LibStub.lua:29: in function 'LibStub:GetLibrary'
	user:/AddOns/RaidNotifier/RaidNotifier.lua:143: in function '(main chunk)'
I believe that addon is not launching at all, because it does not even create its own SavedVariable file.

Installing addon manually results with same errors. Reinstalling addon manually without nuking SavedVariable file results with same errors.

Great work with the addon.. Is there a possibility for hulk shatters and roars to be added to this addon for rakkhat fight?

Hmmm, that's a bit weird. Does it still happen with 1.8.6? And if so, does the entire addon not load/work or is it just the settings menu that doesn't appear? Are you using the english client or another version? Not that that would explain it but I'm just making wild guesses right now.
Just updated RaidNotifier to 1.8.6 again. First updated then reinstalled. In both cases on every /reloadui i get following errors:

Code:
user:/AddOns/RaidNotifier/RaidNotifier.lua:105: function expected instead of nil
stack traceback:
	user:/AddOns/RaidNotifier/RaidNotifier.lua:105: in function 'RaidNotifier.Initialize'
Code:
RaidNotifierUIGlyphWindow_Initialized:3: function expected instead of nil
stack traceback:
	RaidNotifierUIGlyphWindow_Initialized:3: in function '(main chunk)'
and just like before, RaidNotifier settings do not show at all.
Hmmm, it's as if it doesnt properly load some of the files. The first error indicated Settings.lua isn't being loaded or somehow fails to load and the second error only happens if same thing happens with UI.lua. I'm having a hard time thinking of what causes it.
