PinKiller
Version: 1.5
by: Shinni [More]
Adds a lot of pin specific settings to the game. You can select which kind of pins you want to have displayed on your compass, on the worldmap and in the world (floating pins).

- You could for example select to only display tracked quest pins (and hide secondary quest pins) to focus on one specific quest.
- Or you could completely hide all quest pins except the quest offer pins, for a challenging and immersive gameplay. You don't have to fear missing a quest but you could finally actually search, when the quest asks you to "search for x".
- You could also hide quest pins except if the target is behind a door. This way you would know in which dungeon you have to go but you wouldn't know the location of your target inside the dungeon.

If you like slow/challenging and immersive gameplay, try
SlowDialogs and TrueExploration.
- 1.5
- added POI to compass
- hopefully fixed crashing issue

- 1.4
- added LAM2
- added PinType specific settings for compass and floating pins

- 1.3
- updated API version
- added forced eula
- compass quest pins can be hidden via /compasspins 0

- 1.2
- wayshrines should be back now

- 1.1
- only quest pins are removed from the map

- 1.0
- release

Question Quest pin command?

What's the command to toggle quest pins, if there is one? I don't see one listed anywhere, just the compass pins.

Update: I decided to fiddle around a bit with the settings (just enabling some pins in the game world) and now the game is crashing again whenever I travel via wayshrines or I /reloadui.

I have experienced the same. When manipulating the game's floating pin settings too fast, the game can crash.
After a teleport the game loads its default settings which are then overwritten by the addon. Sometimes that leads to a crash.

I hope it's fixed now.
That was this addon? ;-)
I had the same behavior, use wayshrine take a few steps and crash. But seemingly randomly. But I also run 40 addons. That's for taking a peak at it.

If I may make a pin recommendation:

MAP_PIN_TYPE_POI_SEEN

as a compass pin option (should be on by default for this add-on's purpose).

This will hide undiscovered (or incompleted) POIs from the compass. Why should you know they exist anyway?

For that matter if you like the idea, you may as well make MAP_PIN_TYPE_POI_COMPLETE an option too so the compass is just a compass can be an option.

TIA

Awesome. Thanks for this. I had done some custom work to the LUA in my install and this is really nice. I tried to figure out how to hide map pins by type (discovered/undiscovered), but they appear to work differently than "world" pins. Is this accurate?

I took a look at pinkiller.lua and found an easy way to only have the pins in 3D world space hidden while keeping everything on the map intact.

do you mind if i edit and share my findings here? i won't rerelease it or try and claim the work as my own.

EDIT - Seems you already did that. Thanks

I would also really want an option to remove only the questmarkers above heads, not on the map. I remove the compass also so I would like only to navigate with the map.

Another thing that I would love is if it could also remove the companion symbol. Basically just every one of these ridiculous floating symbols above heads. I feel like The Sims sometimes
