FCO Chat Tab Brain  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)
Version: 0.3.7
by: Baertram [More]
FCO Chat Tab Brain

Application is Fast API ready

Newest features:
-Settings to remember the last active chat tab at logout/reloadui -> Automatically set the last active chat tab after login/reloadui again

The changelog was moved to the appropriate panel, because Minion will finally be able to show the changelog correctly too. Plesae click on the blue text "Changelog" inside Minion's addon popup.

FCO Chat Tab Brain brings you the brain for your chat tabs:
  • Options to set the fade out time of the chat window and chat window buttons (after a contact cam online/went offline, mails were received, notifications were added, ...) separately
  • Will remember the last used channel and the last contacted person, for each of your chat tabs
  • will automatically change to a chat tab (you chose it) upon incoming chat messages (like "open group chat tab if group chat comes in"). A chat inactivity time can pe set to avoid changing tabs as you are still reading
  • Play more then 500 different sounds upon incoming chat messages, dinstinguished by receiving chat channel (whisper, guild 1, guild 2, say, etc.), keywords or ignored account-/character-names
-> See the file "ESO_sound_list.nfo" inside the ZIP archive for a list of all sounds, and their number (choose/enter this number at the settings panel ingame to hear a test playing)
  • Switch to last incoming chat channel (e.g. /guild1) automatically if you start your next outgoing chat message. Your message will be sent in (e.g. /guild1) then and you just need to press RETURN, type your text and send it.
  • Change chat tab header color to light blue if a message came in and you are not currently active at this chat tab
  • Enables you to mark/unmark all chat tab options with one click
  • You will be able to change your chat tabs by keybndings
  • You will be able to cycle the chat tabs left/right by keybindings
  • You will be able to show/hide the chat window by keybindings too
  • Redirect your outgoing whisper messages to one selected chat tab. All your whispers will be send and received in the same, clean, chat tab!
  • Activate your whisper chat tab automatically upon incoming whispers (only if you do not write text currently!)
  • The annoying chat buttons + labels (friends, mail, messages) can be hidden even if the friends online/messages/mails are > 0 (You'll have to enable the ESO standard option for the chat fade out/transparency!)
  • The minimized chat will hide all buttons and only show the small corner texture
  • Use keybindings to switch between the last chat channels of incoming chat messages

And many other possibilities...

This will only work with the standard ESO chat tabs!

Many thanks to the following people:
-Garkin, for the help with the chat tab code!

What is the idea of this addon?

Do you use different chat tabs to distinguish between zone chat, guilds, party, whispers, etc.?
Ever got annoyed from the chat not remembering your last channel you talked in, after you switched the different chat tabs?
You talked to your party, switched to your guil, strat to write a message and your party will get it?
So you need to manually enter /g1 in the chat, after you change the tab to your guild, and then you can finally start to write text...
You can change the chat tab to a special one that you like to check, or just cycle the tabs to the left/right using keybindings. This will even work during fighting, so you won't miss your guild's messages anymore, when they plan to do this particular vet. dungeon you wanted to join.

This disturbing handling is history now!

FCO Chat Tab Brain will remember everything for you. Even after relogging it will put you the last used chat channel into each tab as you select the tabs!

How to use this addon?

Download the addon, enable it, have a look at the settings and start to chat.
The brain will remember, for each of your chat tabs, which channel (e.g. zone, party, guild1, tell, etc.) you talked in and which contact person you have written to (for a /tell or /whisper).
-> You will have to succesfuly send a message to the chat tab so "the brain" get's active for the current chat tab!

You could also use chat commands:

/fcochattabbrain <parameter>
/fcoctb <parameter>

Supported parameters
'help' / 'list': Shows information
'status' / '': Shows the current status
'on': Enable the chat tab brain
'off': Disable the chat tab brain
'toggle': Enable/Disable the hat tab brain

Compatibility
Currently nly compatible with the stanndard ESO chat container!

0.3.7
Fixed: Reenabled the "self send" messages check so you won't hear sounds from your messages. Sorry, was a debugging test which I forgot to enable again.

0.3.6
-Added: Sound notification for guild master messages in the chat
-Fixed: Priorization for the chat message sounds (group leader, guild master, friend, text from whitelist, chat channel sound, character/acocunt name sound) will now work properly.
->If you e.g. were not grouped and the group leader sound was setup as standard, no sound was played for the chat channel at least
-Fixed: Settings menu shows language and savemethod (Accoutn wide, each character) again

0.3.5
-Added a keybinding to cycle through the last incoming messages's chat channels at the current chat tab:
Each incoming message will store the chat channel used, for each of your chat tabs.
This way you can use a keybinding to cycle through these chat channels (saved separately for each of your chat tabs) and answer to the guys within the correct channel rapidly.

0.3.4
-Updated API and libraries
-Fixed settings sometimes not changing correct from on to off (off to on)
-Added feature in settings "Chat minimize":

If you get a mail, notification or customer support message the affected icon will be shown again at the minimized bar.
Same for a player status change of your friendslist.

0.3.3
-Fixed: Whisper chat tab switch not working sometimes
-Added: Sound for the group leader. It's located in the settings at the sound for groups.

-Updated: Security checks for supported chat channels

0.1.9
-Added feature: Option ON/OFF to show chat tab header in light blue color if a message arrived and you were active at another tab.
Example:
You are currently writing a whisper message and a message arrives from your guild 1. The chat tab won't change to your guild tab as you are currently writing. But the guild chat tab header will change it's color to light blue so you see there are new messages.
-Added feature: Also enable whisper message idle time, like the other idle times too
-Added feature: Option to 'Change chat channel to whisper':
Reckognize incoming whisper messages and enable answering to the sender by pressing RETURN key, if you are at the whisper tab (old behaviour: Pressing RETURN key started a whisper message to the last whispered person and you had to use 'Reply to whisper' keybinding to answer the last incoming sender)
-Updated: Removed smaller bugs, redone all the coding to speed it up and removed unneeded checks for outgoing messages or incoming messages from monsters/NPCs

-Fixed bug: If you have set a chat tab as e.g. the guild1 tab, and aftwerds you removed the guild1 chat channel output from this tab, in the tab's settings, the tab was still automatically opened and the sound was played upon an incoming guild1 message
-Smaller bugfixes and translation fixes

0.1.7
-Added feature: Automatically switch the chat channel to the chat channel of the last incoming chat message (if you currently use the chat tab where this chat channel was selected by yourself to be used).
If you are currently using another chat tab the chat channel will not be changed and will be kep at the current chat channel at this chat tab

Example:
-Incoming /guild1 message
-Addon switches automatically to the chat tab where you have setup the guild1 chat to be used
-If you press RETURN now to start a chat message the chat channel will automatically be switched to /guild1 and you just need to type and send your answer

0.1.6

Examples:
Open group chat tab if group chat comes in / Open sy chat if say message comes in / Open guild2 chat if guild2 chat comes in / etc.
-A chat inactivity time for each chat channel (say, yell, group, guild 1-5, officer 1-5, sytem) can be set to avoid changing tabs as you are still reading.
-If you are moving the mouse in and out of the chat or you are typing text, changing tabs manually the automatic tab changing will not be triggered (you ar active in the chat then)
-Settings to avoid automatic chat tab changes if you are grouped are included!
-Exceptions for grouped + whispers are included as well

-Added feature: Minimize chat on login/zone change/reload
-Updated translations (Many thx to Chou again for the french texts!)

0.1.0 - > 0.1.1
-Added feature: Automatically switch to whisper chat tab upon incoming whispers. Needs you to specify your chat tab in the settings at the "Chat whisper redirect".
This will only happen if you are not wrtiting text at the moment.
-Fixed a bug in the settings that prevented the chat whispr redirect deactivation. You will be able to enter the disabling value "0" now!

0.0.9c - > 0.1.0
Added "whisper redirect" function: Clean whispering only in 1 chat tab!

If you use several chat tabs, and especially 1 chat tab for your incoming whispers, you will love this new feature:
(o) Choose your whisper chat tab number in the settings (value=0 means "whisper redirect" is disabled!)
(o) If you start a whisper, no matter how you start it, the whisper chat tab will be opened and your message will be send from here

-> Only 1 single chat tab to send and receive your whispers
-> No more started whispers in several different chat tabs, which will need you to manually change the chat channel again (to guild or group e.g.)
-> Simply use ChatTabBrain keybindings to switch through your chat tabs, press RETURN key and start to write in this channel

Will redirect you to the whisper chat tab if you:
-Autocomplete a whisper name by pressing the TAB key, using the mouse or the keyboard UP and DOWN keys to select an auto complete entry
-Reply to an incoming whisper by keybinding
-Start a whisper by using the chat commands
-Start a whisper by using the mouse's right click context-menu (at the guild roster, friends-list etc.)
-Send a new whisper message text

To come:
-Directly switch to whisper chat tab if you left click a player in the chat (currently this will only select his name and if you write the whisper message and press RETURN the whisper channel will be shown)
-Same for the right mouse button context menu at a player in the chat

Weird, just tested this and set it to 10 seconds.
After 10 seconds my chat gets faded out, not earlier.

Are you using the gamepad mode (as I did not really test it cuz I do not own a gamepad!).

Or there must be something wrong with your addon savedvariables then.
Could you try to backup the savedvars of the addon and then reinstall the addon via minion, deleting the savedvars (keep your backup for later).
Then try to test the addon again without any other addon active.

Hi, please disable ALL other addons and test if the problem still exists.
If not it's another addon that interfers and you should enable FCOChatTabBrain together with other chat related addons one by one to see which one it is.
Maybe I can contact the author and fix it then.

Thanks
Okay, I'll do that when I next log into game and get back to you here

UPDATE:

I disabled all addons except for FCO Chat Tab Brain and I still get fast chat fade no matter what setting I have it at. Takes about 20 seconds to fade, at any setting (including 0 which should make it so chat never fades if I read correctly, and including 600 which should have made it so chat fades after 600 seconds).

So, at all settings my chat fades after 20 seconds, with only FCO Chat Tab Brain running.

Hi, please disable ALL other addons and test if the problem still exists.
If not it's another addon that interfers and you should enable FCOChatTabBrain together with other chat related addons one by one to see which one it is.
Maybe I can contact the author and fix it then.

Thanks

Sorry, I don't have any trouble, it works as intended and described for me, and my guild mates (talked to members of 2 guilds which use my addon). I'm not able to see what is wrong here, nor am I able to test it somehow

Maybe you've left some guild and joined a new one and the order of the guilds changed this way.
Please backup the savedvars of FCOChatTabBrain and then reinstall it, removing the settings, so it will read all guild data etc. new.
Then configure it and see if this fixes your problem.

There was one old debugMessage function in there which was removed some patches (months) ago. Seems as if noone ever switched the settings at this function since then

Thanks, will have a look and hopefully will be able to fix it.

Questions:
Does the error only happen to show as you switch from account wide to character settings, or backwards?

Did you logout and delete your saved variables already, then login again and setup the addon new?
Is the error showing again then?

If this setting is turned "OFF" ("AUS") then the automatic switch to a this chat channel is not activated and any message coming in into this chat channel (e.g. /zone) won't switch to the chosen chat tab.
If you turn it on the adodn will change to the chat tab that you chose in the dropdown box above the checkbox.
The inactivity slider to the right of the dropdown box let's you choose how long in seconds you need to be inactive in the chat before a new incoming message in /zone will change to the chat tab that you have chosen in the dropdown box.

There is no char difference settings except if you have disabled the account wide settings and configured different settings for each of your characters on purpose?

You are able to disable the change to specific chat channels, like /zone, in the settings. But as you stated your settings are the same with the other character, and thus chat tab switiching for /zone should be enabled. MAybe disable it, do a /reloadui in chat and then enable it again?

Or if you have the chat tab active where the /zone chat should be shown, so it doesn't need to swith to it.
Or if you are writing a lot on other chat tabs, or moving the mouse above the chat window, as the /zone chat comes in at the other chat tab -> the addon will recognize your mouse movement and writings and if you haven't been unbusy/inactive for at least some seconds it won't change the chat tab automatically for you, as it thinks you are busy at the other tab!
-> You can specify this time to wait for inactivity (in seconds) in the settings too

The only thing that could prevent the change to the zone chat tab could be if you have disabled the auto change to /zone channel or if you have specified a wrong chat tab name from the dropdown list as the /zone chat tab?
Did you check if the settings of the chosen /zone tab is showing the /zone chat (standard eso chat tab settings-> right click tab -> settings -> specify in the popup which of the chat channels are shown inside this chat tab, /zone needs to have the activated checkbox)?

Is is the standardard /zone channel or maybe they are different /zone channels that you are talking about at the different chars, like the one got /zone and the other one it's /zonefr or /zoneen where they are writing in?

You could reset the saved variables (logout, backup the savedvars filename FCOChatTabBrain.lua inside Elder Scrolls Online/libe/SavedVariables folder, then rename/delete it | or use Minion to delete the savedvariables file, but backup before!) and setup everything new to check if this fies your issue.
As I'm not able to reproduce this I cannot really help you, sorry

Yeah, where exactly in the settings can I disable auto change for a specific tab?
Yeah, I suspected it was that, but there aren't checkboxes, only "on/off" and it's off...
I don't know what happened, but it seemed to fixed itself... 1. You first need to create the chat tabs: You did this.
2. Then right click each chat tab and choose "settings" -> In the popup mark only these chat channels that should be shown in this chat tab (like guild1 chat tab should only have the checkbox for "Guild 1" checked): Did you do this?
3. Then do a /reloadui to update the created chat tabs into the LAM settings menu of FCO ChatTabBrain.

3. Open the LAM settings of FCOChatTabBrain and activate the chat tab switiching and all the settings that you want to apply.
4. Scroll down to the settings where you specify for each chat channel (group, zone, zoneEN, zoneFR, guild1, guild2, etc.) if the automatic chat tab switiching should be activated.
Set it to "ON" -> See the screenshot in my post for "AlonsoTherion" below!

5. Then choose from the dropdown box at each chat channel which chat tab should be switched to.
e.g. for "Guild1" choose your chat tab "Guild 1", for "Group" choose the chatt ab where you have set the /group chat channel to be shown (see point 2. above!).

Specify the inactivity time in the slider for each chat channel. The addon should swith to the chat tab then (if you are not already on it and if the inactivy time in seconds had applied, and if you are not currently writing something on another chat tab -> Counts as activity too!).
So it's probably not your addon which is messing with my chat tabs then.

Even if I click on some chat tab it's not changing to the related Guild but to some other. Sometimes I hit Enter and it's changing to some other tab but the one I actually got the last message. Acting really strangely.

I tried to setup actually I have it setup as you just wrote. Sometimes it's working, sometimes totally messed up.

Might be because of some loot messages. Because it should work perfectly with pChat. I had this problem before but I thought it's because of the pChat but then it got fixed somehow. I have no idea what's going on. I will look into it.

Please post the complete lua error message here. If a lua error message apperas and it is from FCO ChatTabBrain then it is most likely that the addon broke due to this error message and some/all functions don't work anymore!

So please, copy &paste the WHOLE lua error message (or a screenshot) here so I can analyze and fix this. Thanks for your support.

Just took a look and made a screenshot (sorry for the German text. The red surrounded checkbox is turned of "AUS"):

If this setting is turned "OFF" ("AUS") then the automatic switch to a this chat channel is not activated and any message coming in into this chat channel (e.g. /zone) won't switch to the chosen chat tab.
If you turn it on the adodn will change to the chat tab that you chose in the dropdown box above the checkbox.
The inactivity slider to the right of the dropdown box let's you choose how long in seconds you need to be inactive in the chat before a new incoming message in /zone will change to the chat tab that you have chosen in the dropdown box.

There are checkboxes above each chat channel section which allows you to enable/disable the chat tab changes for the given chat channel.

I don't know if it were when I changed account wide to player save settings... after that I received a lua error (I'm receiving lua error when I change account wide save settings)... in addition to that, I have checked change to group when I'm grouped and it doesn't change at all.. I have to do it manually...
