LucysCompass 3.0r [German/English]  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)
Version: 3.0
by: LucretiaValdis [More]

It is back!

This little Helper provides you with the ability to track your Gathering-Findings!

It records when you gather something and lets you find your way back to that specific node later on.

Trackable Things are:
-Plants
-Ores
-Wood
-Fibers/Cloth
-Water
-Runestones
-Treasure Chests / Lockbox

Once you harvested a node, the data will be stored and for the next few findings ignored
(since you don't want to be pointed back from where you just came).

After some findings (Default is 5 but you can increase the Amount in a dense vegetated area if you want to), these nodes will be activated again and shown on your little Compass.

The Compass lures you then with a pointing Arrow and a Color-Indicator to the nearest node - once you reach this node the Compass will search for the next node and point in its direction!

After having scanned a Map for a while you will be guided over the map straight to the points you search!

The Compass allows you to adjust the Settings for each of your Character individual so that you can search for Treasures on your little Nightblade whilst hunting for Plants and Water on your Main. Although the Settings are Char-Individual, the Nodes will be shared among them!

You can find the Settings in your Game-Settings under "LucysCompass".

Last but not least: This AddOn also comes with a tool for Analysis of your gathered Data and a Merge-Tool, which lets you merge your achieved Data with Others! The Analysis-Tool is basically a MiniMap that shows you the Nodes you harvested on a tiny, game-external Map. This gives you a visual feedback where you will be most successful while gathering your preferred Nodes and where you won't find many!

A structured textbased Data-Analysis can now be found in the Settings-Panel

Since this is programmed as an Overlay you can also view it ingame. (Java needed)

For the MiniMap instructions see the MiniMap-Readme
For the Merge instructions see the Merge-Readme

For further Information, Feedback, Ideas or else, feel free to write here or ingame: @KoshiroSensei

Happy Gathering!
Update 1.7:
-Added an option to adjust the nodeSize for maps with low density of Nodes so that you dont have to travel to the exact node Position but only into the radius.(/lcbiggernode, /lcsmallernode)
-Added an option to record Nodes even if you are not searching for them (/lcrecordall)
-Added auto-language recognition
-Added a readme for the commands
-Corrected a naming-issue in the MiniMap for english clients which prevented the Nodes to be shown

Bugfix 1.7.2:
-Removed a bug that registered worms as nodes sometimes when they come with a plant.
-Added a doublecheck for existing data to lower the redundant data while in record-all-mode

Update 1.8:
-Added an improved method to avoid multiple records while standing at a near location while re-collecting.
-Collected Data is scanned on start-up for redundant information (same nodes at almost the same location) and filters them to keep the data clean.

Update 2.0:
-Merge-Tool added
-Language-Packs added for German and English
-Distinguish between high-level and low-level
-Gathering while hidden added

Update 2.1:
-Settings-Menu added

Nodes not recording?

I'm having issues with nodes not recording. Treasure chests are, but nothing else is. When I try to toggle "Record All" to on, it pops up with this error:

user:/AddOns/LucysCompass/LucysCompass_Settings.lua:80: function expected instead of boolean
stack traceback:
user:/AddOns/LucysCompass/LucysCompass_Settings.lua:80: in function 'setFunc'
user:/AddOns/CraftingStations/Libs/LibAddonMenu-2.0/controls/checkbox.lua:62: in function 'UpdateValue'
user:/AddOns/CraftingStations/Libs/LibAddonMenu-2.0/controls/checkbox.lua:110: in function '(anonymous)'

I am hoping someone might be able to point me towards a solution.

TL;DR Install Fyrakin's MapFix addon, and it'll take care of it.

More detail... it's the call to SetMapToPlayerLocation on line 376 of LucysCompass.lua, which it seems to be calling regardless of if the map is open or not, despite the if statement checking it. MapOpen seems to only be set to true in one place in LucysCompass_HideGUI which gets called *after* the block checking if it's open. I assume either something is out of order, or what LucysCompass_HideGUI is checking to decide what to set MapOpen to is incorrect/no longer valid, but I haven't compared in detail what MapFix checks instead. But it's 3AM, and grabbing MapFix is easy enough.

For the minimap, nothing works except forward/back, reload and exit with the latest java update.

Can't get mini map to work

I like the mod but I can't get the mini-map to show up when I play ESO (I have Java installed). The add-on seems to be up-to-date and is running since I get the little thing showing nearby resources. Any suggestions, idea or thoughts on what I am doing wrong? Having a mini-map that shows things I have harvested before is great so I know where to go when I am looking for a particular item. Thanks gobs.

Yeah I wondered about that. Im just a bit of a statistics fanatic when it comes to how many of something I get etc, but knew it could be pretty complex. Thanks for a great addon, tho. Using it & loving it. Good luck.

Am wondering, however - can you code in nirncrux data? Ie if you got one from a specific node it'd remember?
Just a thought
Well you can use it in-game: if you turn eso into full-screen window mode it overlays the game^^ as for the idea with the nirncrux - it doesn't seem to fit well since its just too specific, but thanks for the idea

Thanks!
Actually you dont have to install anything - just run it and enjoy - you need to have Java installed though.
You should see a little loading animation and shortly afterwards the map itself on the upper left of your screen.

Thank you! ^^

I will check if this is possible in any statisfactory way. The two data-sets differ quite a lot so that has to be considered.

My question...

This is the error i have been getting every time i pick up a node.

user:/AddOns/LucysCompass/LucysCompass.lua:259perator < is not supported for number < nil
stack traceback:
user:/AddOns/LucysCompass/LucysCompass.lua:259: in function 'LucysCompass_AddNode'

I am learning ( slowly ) how to code addons and I do not think it is related to the second half of the error.

If you wouldnt mind terribly. Can you tell me what the cause of this is? and how one would fix it?

Thanks very much.
Hey, you're always welcome!
Since I dont play atm i can only guess so far - on that specific line the node-type is being checked. It might be hat they changed something in the api since the error you get means that it wants to decide what type it is but it only gets nil (nothing). If thats the case at all the nodes now this will be difficult to fix - not the check for the nil which needs to be applied but a new method to recieve the node-type. I would apply a patch if i played but to do so without being able to test it is nearly impossible. I'm sorry for that

Thank you for this idea - you're right this would make a good combination! Sadly I don't have time for the project or playing teso at the moment because of exams and work, so it wont be developed further at this time. Sorry to disappoint your hopes but I thank you all for the support!
