PinKiller  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)
Version: 2.3
by: Shinni [More]
Adds a lot of pin specific settings to the game. You can select which kind of pins you want to have displayed on your compass, on the worldmap and in the world (floating pins).

- You could for example select to only display tracked quest pins (and hide secondary quest pins) to focus on one specific quest.
- Or you could completely hide all quest pins except the quest offer pins, for a challenging and immersive gameplay. You don't have to fear missing a quest but you could finally actually search, when the quest asks you to "search for x".
- You could also hide quest pins except if the target is behind a door. This way you would know in which dungeon you have to go but you wouldn't know the location of your target inside the dungeon.

If you like challenging and immersive gameplay, try
SlowDialogs and TrueExploration.

Talking You are my hero

If this truly works (didn't even get to test yet from my eagerness to leave thanks) you have saved many a grey hair from me. Object "search for something" and when you close the dialog you see a glaring arrow.. just isn't much of a "search" object.

If it would not be too hard might I suggest adding a keybind option to toggle this on or off? Most of the times the quest markers are just a pester but I wonder if there'll be few ocasions down the line when it's "so where the oblivion this thing is supposed to be", had couple of those with Skyrim as I went without quest markers there too.

Also, does this affect the quest offer icons too? (then again, guess I see it soon enough)

If by quest offer icons, you mean quest giver NPC's there is already a built in option for that under settings.

Ok so it appears as though this removes all pins from the map - like everything.

It does do what it says about removing pins from the map and world but they still appear on your compass.

My point about quest givers was, I rather keep them in my map. ANyway

As another commenter pointed out, the map functionality does not work or, more so, works a bit too eagerly .I looked to the code and, I suspect the function you're overriding gets (and subsecuently needs) more parameters than the one. At the moment I've commented that portion out for my own use while waiting you to figure out a fix or do one myself. the way you remove the hanging markers is brilliant though

Edit: Stupid me, the last line in last function should be "return original function", just executing it doesn't rewutn anything significant. However, that doesn't still seem to make the thing work as intended. But then it doesn't hide everything at least.

Another addond gets rid of the ones on the compass

There is a addon named immersion (which requires some addon framework first) which can remove the compass from the UI. If this removes the pins from the world and the maps (which I have yet to test) then that would provide complete elimination of these annoying markers.

After trying it out I have to say that it is a bit overzealous. Not only does it remove quest pins from the map and world, but also every other pin on the map!

Doesn't suppose it's possibility to adjust that? But, I suppose if my choice is one or the other, I'll take the overzealous version, heh.

Yes this removed COMPLETELY everything from the map so i cannot even port with wayshrine because they are gone from map too, as well as horse stables, dungeons etc. So sorry but its unusable when it disables completely everything.

And was finally happy that someone made it.

Thanks for the map fix. I know I can hide the compass completely, but I prefer some of the compass functionality. Is there any way to hide the pins from the compass using something similar to ZO_WorldMap_IsPinGroupShown or the Alpha trick?

TIA

Thank for this addon.

If it`s able, can you make this options:

- on/off quest target pins and markers (not quest givers) for WorldMap/Compass/Visual apart

Is there a way you could add an option to do the reverse? Remove the quest marker from the compass, but leave them floating above the quests?

I would also really want an option to remove only the questmarkers above heads, not on the map. I remove the compass also so I would like only to navigate with the map.

Another thing that I would love is if it could also remove the companion symbol. Basically just every one of these ridiculous floating symbols above heads. I feel like The Sims sometimes

I took a look at pinkiller.lua and found an easy way to only have the pins in 3D world space hidden while keeping everything on the map intact.

do you mind if i edit and share my findings here? i won't rerelease it or try and claim the work as my own.

EDIT - Seems you already did that. Thanks
