Easy Quick Slots  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)
Version: 1.1
by: Jar-Ek [More]
This mod makes changing the current quick slot easy (well easier).
Just setup your key-binds for the slots in Controls and then you can change the currently selected quick slot via a key press. You still have to activate the quick slot item with your standard activation button (default is Q). BTW there is no UI graphical element present - the mod simply allows the quick slot to be changed.

Thanks for the comments, updates and fixes posted guys!!
Version 0.1: Initial Beta
Version 1.0: Updated API (should no longer claim to be out-of-date)
Added international binding
Fixed quickslot cycling

Bit more information how it works would be neat. I'll be trying this out today but would not harm to explain bit more in the description.

I'm having Logitech G105 and hoping I will be able to macro the change and use into the G keys.

Key mapping question

One question: The mapping of add-on key assignment to quickslot position seems odd to me. It seems like the numbering starts at the southeast position and moves counter-clockwise. So, if I program a key to QS1, it activates the southeast slot. My QS2 key activates the east slot, QS3 = NE, QS4 = N, QS5 = NW, QS6 = W, QS7 = SW, QS8 = South. Was that intentional? Or is it some quirk in my particular installation, and maybe I need to reinstall it? (I can work with it, but I was expecting QS1 at north and going clockwise from there, so I got rather confused.)

Either way, this is terrific and really fixes the rather painful quick slot selection ui. Thanks a bunch!

Southeast seems to be default slot 1

Plan to try this add on today.
It appears the game considers SE to be the first quick slot to fill

Hmm for some reason it tells me this addon is out of date and I was not able to try it out.

The extra information I wanted was in these comments and seems really nice. Uses keybindings which I then could use in G macro buttons to attach quickslot switch keybind + Q for quick use.

Is it possible to modify how we assign things to the quicklsot bar? As in in our inventory window making it easier to assign things.

IE: When right clicking an item in the inventory, add in Quicklost 1, Quicklost 2, Quicklost 3, as selections after all the normal options.

That way I could just right click an item and then choose from the drop down which quicklsot to assign it to, instead of having a keybind for everything.

so I am guessing this does not work anymore? Really wish we had an app that could do this so I could hit F1, F2, etc. to active certain potions. :/

Love This

First off, I love this add on. It is easily one of my favorites.

I set the keys to bind to my num pad. Since there are 8 quick slots I set it to 1-8. I then set the num pad enter button to actively use the item.

For instance, I keep heals as 1, so I click Num 1 then Num enter. I keep invisibility potions as 7, so if I know I can't win the battle I hit num 7 then num enter and run. Since getting this addon my potion use has skyrocketed, and my survival rate has increased as well.

Selecting the potion does not use it, you still need to click the activate button (default Q)

You may select the key bindings under controls/ key bindings. It has it's own section, though the quickslot activate button is in the combat section I think.

There is one problem. The cycle through buttons pop up an error message. Don't use the cycle through buttons, use the specific ones. The numbers start on the bottom and go counter clockwise around.

Here is a fix to the cycle quickslot function. I have mapped the cycling of quickslots to my mousewheel and activate them using the default key Q. I also tweaked the logic a bit so that "up" selects the next quickslot item going clockwise starting at the "12:00" position.

EasyQuickslots.lua

Code:
-- Called from bindings.xml, cycle through the current Quickslot
function EQS.CycleQSlot( up )
	local slotValue = GetCurrentQuickslot()
	if(up == 0) then slotValue = slotValue + 1
	else slotValue = slotValue - 1 end
	if(slotValue < 9) then slotValue = 16
	elseif(slotValue > 16) then slotValue = 9 end
	SetCurrentQuickslot(slotValue)
end
