This addon will display in the chat window the items that you and your group members have looted.

It is for people who just want a standalone no-frills group loot logging feature without any unwanted baggage. This is a tiny addon (a mere couple of kilobytes) with virtually zero footprint.

Group Loot Notifier will only show notable items: specifically, set items of any color quality, consumables or trophies of blue quality or better (e.g., motifs, recipes, and treasure maps), and any item of purple quality or better.

What is your game language?
Are you using localization addon?

Language is English, no localization addon.

To make things even more bizarre if I paste → in the chat starts working. Just like that.

I see boxes, I paste that character - no need to send as a message or anything, just paste it in the 'text box' - scroll up until the text disappears, scroll down, now is arrows.

If I leave the → character there is fine, if I don't every time I get a loading screen the problem comes back.

I can confirm 100% that is not the addon (not that anyone probably had any doubts about this) because I disabled all the addons but this one and it is fine like that.

Furthermore Loot Log has the same issue (for me); the author has encountered it before and could not figure out what causes it. The only thing that is clear is what is NOT causing it, and that is Group Loot Notifier.

I did the opposite, I disabled only Group Loot Notifier and asked a guildie to send me a whisper that read → → → → → →

Needless to say all I could see was boxes.

I should have done all this before posting here really, but sometimes laziness takes over, sorry.

Basically instead of the arrow between the item looted and the person who looted it I get a box, please see picture. https://imgur.com/a/r9wpQ58 Anyone has experienced this before and/or knows how to 'fix' it? No matter what quality item is cause you can easily upgrade it. So there is quality option only for jewelry. Try to set up filters (Show all>Disable, Collectible>Disable, e.t.c).

No this information sending from server, not from client.

The background is that there are unfortunately players who get on your nerves terribly when they see something useful. Me and many players I know temporarily don't want to show what loot they got.

As someone that hasn't written a program in a long time, I'm just particularly nervous about changing code without knowing it's okay. Too cautious it would seem.

Your instructions worked perfectly. I just opened up the GLN_Main.lua file from the AddOns folder in Wordpad, searched for the original text, replaced it with my own text every place it showed up, and that's what shows up now in the game. Quite an easy change, but I don't regret asking first just to be safe.

Two of us were using this addon. Most times we killed a boss or looted a chest, only 2 out of 3 people's loot would be displayed, even when we all got set items. And it wasn't the same person every time whose loot wasn't displaying. Sometimes one player's loot wouldn't display, sometimes someone else's.

One additional option I would really like, though, is the option to change the "Beg Item" text. As is it right now, it says: You looted [insert item] Can I get it? I would like to rephrase it. It's a little pushy for my taste. Right now, I have to quickly rewrite the before and after text when I beg an item to something I'm more comfortable with. And that's difficult, especially after a trial, when there are tons of items being posted to chat, I'm dealing with multiple whispers to/from different people, and people are itching to leave group ASAP. If there could be an option to type one's own before and after text for the Beg Item option, that be great. Just give me two text boxes in the options menu where I can enter "Excuse me, I saw you got " and "Do you need it?" Or something else as I see appropriate. Alternatively, can someone point me to the place in the add-on code where this is hard-coded in and tell me how to change it without breaking anything? Thank you.

In case anyone else wants to fix this. Change

button:SetAnchor(RIGHT,ZO_ChatWindowOptions,RIGHT,-36,0)

to this:

button:SetAnchor(RIGHT,ZO_ChatWindowOptions,RIGHT,-55,0)

That moves it farther left so it wont be on top of the BeamMeUp icon.
