You Can Signal!

First, add you dependencies to the manifest:

##DependsOn YouCanSignal
/libs/YouCanSignal.lua

Then, create a new signal such as:

myAddOnSignal = YouCanSignal:New("myAddOnSignal", 0)

Next, make your colors like:

COLORS = {['RED'] = {['r'] = 1.0, ['g'] = 0.0, ['b'] = 0.0}}

Finally, update the signal as:

mySignal:updateBackdrop(COLOR_CODE.RED)
