Since ESO is an online game, I tend to rush through dialogs without actually reading them.
I do enjoy the story but I simply lack the self-control to not skip all the dialogs.
That's why I created this addon to help me immerse into the game.

It continuously displays the text and the dialog options will only appear when the complete text is displayed.


(it's only so laggy because of the gif. it's completely fluid in game)

There are some settings under
ESC -> Settings -> Addon Settings -> SlowDialogs
there you can change
- the text speed
- the delay until the text starts appearing
- the length of the fade-in animation

Nice Addon. Like it very much.
Would like the addition to skip dialogues when I use the mouse or press "A" on my controller etc. (left you a suggested feature in your portal for that)

I also made a German translation:

EDIT: Oh I know that you can skip by interacting with the name of the person, just would like it more by pressing a single button

gamepad woes

Hey Shinni,

first off thanks so much for this, its awesome and makes a huge diff to my enjoyment of the game,

i wonder if you or someone else who sees this might be able to do one better,
i use this together with "ak0`s no written dialog" mod so that i only see the responses and not the dialog itself, it works perfectly when using the keyboard but not the gamepad. does anyone have the skills or knowledge to make it work with a gamepad?

it would be amazing if someone could

Firstly -- thank you very much for this addon! It's brilliantly executed and serves its purpose perfectly.

Well, nearly perfectly, and that is why I am writing this comment.

My issue, specifically, is about interactions with inanimate objects (such as writ boards, chests, corpses, etc.), basically anything that is not a converation (or is not voiced). Now, I noticed, that the addon disables the slow text when interacting with merchants and bankers (and thank you for that, it's appreciated), but still does the slow reveal for guild merchants (their lines are quick anyway, usually) and objects.

So, I would like to suggest adding the quick text approach to those as well, if possible. In case of objects, any interaction which text starts with angle bracket parenthesis ("<") is most likely non-voiced and thus, most likely, in no need of slow reveal. Lightbulb suggestion

Can we have a key to skip the "slow" effect and display the whole text right away? Two reasons:
1) sometimes the character is already done talking and the text is not yet fully displayed.
2) sometimes you have already spoke to NPC and heard everything before, so you just want to get to business
3) as I have explained in my previous post, writ boards are also showing the same "slow" effect on text, which is not right - there is no person that we speak to

Update:
Actually just found out that if I slick on the dialog title that it skips "slow" effect and goes straight to choices. Then updated suggestions is to allow clicking in any dialog place to skip and to assign a key, like "space" to skip. Slightly Improved™ Dialogues allow to use keys [1-9] to choose answers to I rarely use mouse what talking to NPC, space to skip would fit just right.

Hi! Finanly Slightly Improved™ Dialogues are working nicely with Slow Dialogs, hooray! Just start to use it and immediately noticed that it also affects all writ boards and writ delivery crates. There is no person that talks but still text is displayed "slowly". Any way to avoid this and just display text as usual without "slow" effect?

I'm old and it really hurts my eyes to look at bright white text on a black background. Is it possible to change the text color and background color for the dialogue UI? Is that something that could be added to your addon? Even if it's just some lines of code so I could plug in hex values or whatever, it would be great.
