I don't know why I see this everywhere. Nvidia and AMD GPUs have supported SLI/Crossfire in windowed mode for many years now. Just use a program like MSI Afterburner, it's clear as day the utilization on multiple cards. (I've tested it myself with a tri-SLI setup of GTX 580)

in maximized mode you have the caption bar on top of the window, in fullscreen mode the mouse is captured on this screen. Not nice if you use multiple monitors.
After running this programm it looks like fullscreen mode without capturing the mouse.
