Simple Chat Bubbles  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)
Version: 1.0.2
by: Dio [More]
Simple Chat Bubbles helps alert you when other people are talking.

The bubbles are positioned in the upper half center of screen. There are two rows of 3 bubbles, for a total of 6 bubbles. The number of bubbles shown is configurable, if you would like to save space or not have so much "bubble clutter". However, the less bubbles available, the more likely incoming chat will overwrite existing bubbles.

Bubbles expand in the following order:

Top Center -> Top Left -> Top Right -> Bottom Left -> Bottom Right -> Bottom Center

Features

  • SCB has a tidy amount of options to help you personalize the chat bubbles. Please see the screenshots for more details.

Possible upcoming features

  • Minimum bubble duration in seconds.
  • Improved gold spam filter.
Version 1.0.2-Fix

- Reuploaded. OS X sort of messed up the folder structure of the archive.

Version 1.0.2

- New option: "Show My Chat". Enabling this will show your chat as a bubble.
- New option: "Hide On Menus". Enabling this will hide chat on any character menus (not system menus). Upon leaving any character menus the chat will reappear.
- Fixed the bug that was present if you disabled "Show Pop Animation".
- Various code refactoring.

Version 1.0.1

- Added 4 new channels: EMOTE (/emote), MONSTER_EMOTE, MONSTER_SAY, MONSTER_WHISPER, and MONSTER_YELL.

Thanks. Have looked at this and was delighted to get a nice popup for a private message!

I enabled it as well for the group/party.

Thanks!

Would it be possible to add the /emote channel to the bubble tracker, as well?

/emote is now in v1.0.1.

Too bad there is no way to track in-game emotes like /dance. There does not appear to be any API events for those.

This is a pretty good mod. While I'm usually not particularly interested in what others have to say, it's definitely a nice AddOn to see people who are whispering you, and definitely good for parties, as I'm usually in a 3 man group (Including me) in dungeons, so not really paying attention to what the 4th member has to say due to using vent with my friends. Helps notify me if they're saying something.

I would definitely like to see a popup/chat bubble on my screen when I say something though.

Other than that, it kind of reminds me of how people in Phantasy Star Online/Universe communicated.

Nicely done. Makes it a whole lot easier to notice when someone is trying to get my attention.

I really hope ZOS don't find out about this because it will probably destroy any chance we had of getting proper speech bubbles made by them.

Great mod. But I still need real chat bubbles.

Excellent idea. I really like the concept.

Question: Is it possible to be able to set the bubbles to trigger on certain keywords? For example, if one were to be chatting with a few specific people within a large gathering, it would be great to be able to toggle the addon to only search for designated keywords (such as the character name). If that criteria is met, then the bubble shows.

Just a thought.

This addon seems to be conflicting with Wykkyd's Quest Tools. My log:

Hm, there's nothing SCB does that would conflict with WQT. Judging by the errors, my addon's included LibAddOnMenu (a library for making menus) was probably loaded into memory first and thus is included in the stack traceback (sort of annoying). I would report your bug in WQT, it's most likely a WQT bug.

This is something I was designing for when creating the addon, but it was a little more complex than I anticipated and in order to get the addon out sooner I skipped the feature. I am still considering it for a future release.

I am getting the above error not sure which add on is causing it. But both SimpleChatBubbles and ZrMM are shown.

Search String

It would be great if we could have your addon do queries for particular strings (like, "WTB" or "WTS" or "LFG" or any string we choose), and then display a notification bubble so we don't miss important messages we are looking for.

Similar to the Addon "Chat Watch," only not broken.

Thanks.
