Dragon Loot - Simple Loot Addon  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)
Version: 2.0
by: Qwexton [More]
DRAGON LOOT

** Bug Fixes for French also added some string translations for German (Shout out to Tridman, Danke)

Simple Loot Addon that shows what you or your group has looted in the game in the chat window, allowing you to click the links from chat to see your item stats. Dragon Loot allows you to filter on Grey, White, or Green quality items and also allows you to filter on Group or Gold.

To Use Dragon Loot:

Download the Zip File and extract it's contents (Dragon Loot Folder) into the Addons Directory which can be located at: <SystemRoot>\Users\<User>\Documents\Elder Scrolls Online\<game version>\Addons

(If the Addons folder does not exist you can create it)

Example Path:
C:\Users\Public\Documents\Elder Scrolls Online\pts\Addons

In the game you can run these two commands from chat:
/dl help
/dl settings
/dl reset
Version 1.9
  • Added support for localization
  • Shout out to Ykses for translating for our French speaking friends! Merci!

Version 1.8
  • Added an Auto Repair feature.
  • Fixed crafting to display a message if crafting fails.
  • Fixed crafting to better report the items you receive and amount of that item.
  • Added a reset function for the Addon.
  • Added Lock Mechanism for the Loot Window

Version 1.6
  • Added Buy Back items for store buy backs.
  • Added Crafting items.
  • Made Loot Window Re-sizable.
  • Fixed some behavior issues with the loot window.
  • After loot window lines fade they are erased so they only keep a current history of loot.
  • Fixed variable scoping in a number of places to keep addon from colliding with other addons.
  • General house keeping to make dealing with the size of the addon easier.

Version 1.5
  • Added a stand alone Loot Window you can drag around the screen and abuse.
  • Added the ability to filter loot messages out of chat, or the loot window, or both if you just want to download the add on and not actually use it, well I suppose you could use it just for the autosell trash feature.
  • The loot window is nice but not completely done but I wanted to get it out there before this weekends beta. (you can't change it's size yet, but you do have the ability to scroll through up to 40 loot messages, also the links in the loot window don't work so if you want them you'll have to keep using chat.)
  • Text and the background fade out after a short time period so it's more of a notification of what you or party members looted for now, (I just have to figure out how to get those links working).

Version 1.4
  • Added Store Buy and Sell Receipts to show in chat.
  • Added Auto Sell Trash when Vendor Store is opened. Sells Trash AND items the player marks as Junk.
  • More Text output formatting.
  • Will not show items sold for 0 gold in chat. *This is until I can figure out how to handle currency that isn't gold.

Version 1.3
  • Added Settings Menu
  • Removed Gold Spent
  • Changed Loot Chat Slightly to Read Easier.

Notes -

- Have not fully tested quest items
- Report bugs on the comments sections and Ill take a look at them.

Prefect

Had auto loot turned on in beta and had to turn it off so I could at least see what I was looting. I like to learn what drops from which mobs. This addon will allow me to have the best of both worlds.

Completely agree! Opening up my bags to see what items had the "new" tag next to them defeated the purpose of having auto-loot enabled. Great add-on concept, and I can't wait to try it out.

Thumbs up A few suggestions :)

May i suggest a slight change to text syntax? Display as such:

You gained 48 gold.
You received [Rawhide Scrap]x2.

Basically remove the "you lost gold" and the square brackets, this keeps it neat-looking without too much clutter for easier reading.

Also, if it doesn't already work like that, merge all shop spendings after the player closes the shop - if i come to a vendor and sell 10 scraps for 2 gold each i will get a single "You received 20 gold." when i close the vendor window. This should include currency costs too (pvp or pve points apart from gold).

Maybe also add an option to delay all messages after combat.

Item Name Formatting

I like the changes you made per Frag971's suggestion, but I think it would be easier to see what one gets if the actual item names were formatted with brackets and capitalized (per word) as he also suggested. Also, only capitalizing the first word of the sentence (besides item names that is) would keep it easy to read.

Ex. You received [Rawhide Scrap] x2.

This addon looks awesome and I can't wait to check it out this weekend. Thanks for this!

AutoSell

Working on AutoSell Trash loot feature, and store receipts will try to have this done by this weekend's Beta. Be sure to check back on before the weekend for an updated version.

Great code example. Thanks alot. Btw...not sure if you know that already. The is a folder called esoui\libraries\zo_templates

There are two templates that relate to checkbuttons as far as I can tell atm: ZO_CheckButton and ZO_CheckButtonLabel. So you could use those templates for your settings.

Nice I did not know that, maybe for the next release!

Thanks for the addon, very handy.

Just a little bug:

Sometimes (for quest rewards?!) an item doesn't have the right color or tooltip.

Example:

(tooltip from the inventory, the chat shows it already in the wrong color)

(the tooltip if I click on the item in the chat)

Basically in the addon, I'm passing the link directly to chat from what ZOS gives me from their loot event, I think the bug is in their link creation for items from quests. I'll have to play around a bit with their link handler to see if I can make the quest items appear properly but it might take some time to fix this up.

I'm currently writing my first ESO addon and while studying yours a bit more I found that you leak a ton of global variables. Are you aware of that?

Yea one of the cleanup issues I plan on doing is to go back and make those local, I was just rushing to get it to the state it's in now. There's definitely a lot of room for improvement in the code, I'm not a programmer by trade I mostly do scripting and the languages I've used most have ben TCL/TK and Python some Javascript and some complied language programming in Java. I'm new to making addons and I've never used LUA so I'm learning a ton while making something practical.

I tried this out over the weekend. Nice work so far.

Some quick feedback:

* when you put items in the Loot Window (as opposed to the chat), if you could limit the items to just the last items looted. I seemed to be getting a history of all the items looted in the windows whenever it would pop up.

* Could you add a "grow upwards" option to the loot window. So if you have it at the bottom of the screen, the new loot appears at the bottom rather than the top.

* Lastly, is it possible to scale the window?

Feature Request (not sure if this is in already):
- Ability to filter messages.

For instance I would only be interested in seeing Blue and better quality drops while levelling up, and after hitting 50, I would probably only be interested in Epic or better.

Maybe just a slider or radio buttons to determine minimum threshold of loot messages to sort out all the trash that you don't want to know about.

This will be in eventually, because of the way that I am filtering the items I am looking at the color of the link the item gives. I haven't had the opportunity to loot anything better than blue and therefor I don't know what hex color value of epic or better items is yet. Don't worry though I will add this when I get the color values or they pick a better way to designate item quality.
