Urich's Skill Point Finder  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)
Version: 7.1.0
by: fritzOSU03, Onigar, tim99, yachoor
Description
Have you ever been in a situation where you need more skill points but you have no idea where to get them? Well today is your lucky day! Urich's Skill Point Finder provides a graphical interface showing all of the skill points you have (and haven't) earned throughout the entire game. You can show or hide the window by binding a hotkey or by entering the slash command. Slash command information is below.

Please Note
From Version 5.1.0 you need to separately install: LibTableFunctions-1.0 and LibAddonMenu-2.0

Localization
Localization for Russian, German, French, and Japanese is included. I speak only English so I am very sorry if a translation is incorrect. My only available source was Google Translate. Please message me if you see a translation that can be improved or shortened where space is an issue. Also feel free to provide a complete translation for another language if you would like to see it added to a future update.

Slash Commands
  • /uspf - Show or hide the USPF window.
  • /uspf help - Display help information in the chat window.
Known Issues/Complications
  1. The Folium Discognitum is a scroll that awards two skill points on use. Because the Folium is a scroll and not a book, it is not possible to determine if if you have earned those points besides comparing the number of earned skill points with the number of expected skill points + 2. There is an override in the settings menu if this information is not correct for your character.
  2. There are skill points awarded upon completion of tutorial quests for Morrowind and following chapters characters. If you skip the quest you'll get the skill point but the addon will not be able to determine that. There are override options in the settings menu for these skill points if this information is not correct for your character.

Nerts, so I went a-barking up tree you'd already learned was the wrong one, darn. I think you're on a roll with collapsing the tutorial quests though, as you say you only get one (and it seems the only "fix" for you don't have it is to delete and remake the whole character, yech). I, personally, also am not fond of the idea of splitting the dungeons up into "base game" and "DLC". I usually check USPF because I want to know the following:
Have I done THIS particular dungeon,
And what character(s) have or have not done it?

Hence why I set it to sort by dungeon name, I find the dungeon and then sometimes check the tooltip to see which characters need to do the dungeon still. So I'd prefer the columns just split instead of having to check 2 separately sorted lists for the dungeon I want. But that, of course, is just me.

This... has possibilities, if people don't like the 2 column solution. Does have the advantage of being scalable no matter how many group dungeons ZOS pumps out, whereas the 2 column just buys more time until the problem comes back. Time in huge amounts sure, but. Personally, I prefer a 2 column solution, (specifically mine so who knows if I'm just being biased) to just see it all at once, but it seems I'm in the minority there.

Not the worst idea. Not sure if it'd save that much space but I must admit the title bar announcing "Urich's Skill Point Finder - X/Y (Z unassigned)" does get all the information across. And if you're dealing with needing to free up some screen real estate, that's practically a freebie. The more I think about this the more I actually think it's a really good idea.

And to hide inaccessible DLCs/chapters (not sure if I can get that info from the game, though, but it could be a setting for each DLC)
But those last 2 won't help someone on new char / with access to everything anyways
While I can only speak for myself, here, as an alt-o-holic, collapsible columns would be more hindrance than help, as often I do like to check the tooltips to see which of my other characters have or haven't done a piece of content. Just checking the tooltip instead of having to toon-hop around is a huge help.

You do you, far be it from me to tell you what to do, but... well, I already have BeamMeUp and I would just use that, not sure how much benefit I'd get out of having that functionality in USPF compared to the amount of effort you'd have to go through to implement it.

Regardless, I would like to take this moment to say thank you, so very much, for maintaining and updating this. It's such a great mod

Yeah, new dungeons bloated the size, font won't help - each entry has fixed height as far as I'm aware.
Will have to do something about it before adding more, but I'm bad at UI and I'd rather spend free time playing the game, so it'll have to wait, sorry
Sooo... took a swing at it:

Splitting up the Group Dungeon Quests into 2 columns. Done dynamically so as more group dungeons are added, same code should continue splitting them evenly. Advantage here is that it's sort-setting independent, that is regardless if you set it to sort by Dungeon name (like I have in the screenshot) or legacy zone or whatever, it still wraps from the bottom of the left column to the top of the right column. As you can see my efforts to get the background height right... well, it needs more work >_< (EDIT: Fixed I think, or at least greatly improved. Still a bit ham-handed of me, apologies)

Really, my question right now is any suggestion on how best to get THIS code to you?

(Was thinking about adding option to queue for missing dungeons with separate difficulty settings for base game and DLC, so maybe I could fit that in headers above columns)

Did you skip the tutorial? You need to mark that the character got that skill point in settings for it to pickup the Folium Discognitum ones.
Both of those skill point gains are not directly detectable and the addon just makes a guess that if you have exactly 2 skill points too many you must have gotten the Folium Discognitum.

I'll probably change it to auto-mark the tutorial/folium/both done if you have 1/2/3 skill points more than expected when there's another new tutorial quest and get rid of the old override settings for each quest.
That's a really good question and to be honest, I don't recall if I did or not.

Hint:
When you update your addons please also check the dependency versions and make them only load if ppl instaleld the proper versions of the dependencies.
Saves yourself a lot of time and headache too:

Code:
DependsOn: LibAddonMenu-2.0 LibTableFunctions-1.0
Change to:
Code:
DependsOn: LibAddonMenu-2.0>=35 LibTableFunctions-1.0>=101
This will make ppl update their lib LAM 2.0 to newest 35 (at least 28 is a MUST if you removed LibStub and use LibAddonMenu2 global! Before 28 it did not exist and your addon errors out -> So help yourself and add that version checks done by the game).

You find the version that is needed to be added there in the libraries's txt file, at the ## AddOnVersion: <unsigned integer number> tag

If e.g. a library does not provide any AddOnVersion then just do not add the >= there
Or if the library is your own: Update the txt file and add the ## IsLibrary: true and ## AddOnVersion: <unsigned integer> e.g. and then add
the LibraryName>=<AddOnversion> to your addon's txt file.

I have been getting this error on my Steam account (PC-NA) ever since I deleted one of my 20 characters and replaced it with a new character. I tried deleting the add on and saved variables and then re-installing but I'm still getting the error. Not seeing the error on any of my other three accounts (1 Epic and 2 ZOS, all PC-NA).

The live/logs/interface.log contains a hint about your XML/lua files' resizeToFitDescendents:

Gui Warning: USPF_GUI_Header has a set height but has resizeToFitDescendents enabled. If this is intended, use resizeToFitConstrains="X".

With the changes 3 patches ago a SetDimensions or SetHeight or SetWidth will add "fixed" dimensions!
If you then enable resizeToFitDescendents=true it will be not working as intended as it tries to resize on x and y but actual width/height was "fixed".
So you either need to remove resizeToFitDescendents=true OR add resizeToFitConstrians='X' or 'Y' (depending on fixed height or width, here it is width so X needs to be able to resize accordingly).

Please also check possible other entries in the log for your addons.
Thos are hints hat Zos added to find those circumstances so they should be fixed before Zos makes them real error messages in the future.

Details about the changes can be read here:

Appreciate you adding the Endless Archive. Could you set it so when you mouse over it, you can see which characters have that point? (Like MA, etc) Thanks for running the great add-on!

Yeah, new dungeons bloated the size, font won't help - each entry has fixed height as far as I'm aware.
Will have to do something about it before adding more, but I'm bad at UI and I'd rather spend free time playing the game, so it'll have to wait, sorry
Thanks for the response! No worries with the wait, I'd rather spend time playing, as well. Thank you very much for your efforts and contributions, they're appreciated.

I think I found the solution. I had to uninstall the add-on and saved data then reinstall. Seems to be working now
