JunkBuster  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)
Version: 1.61
by: ADH, Atoom
Now compatible with the current game Patch 3.3 Dragon Bones!

This addon provides a rule-based system to put items in your junk bag or destroy them

Unlike the other automatic junking addons, JunkBuster allows you to filter items by any combination of the following criteria:
  • Name
  • Item Type
  • Equipment slot
  • Weapon/Armor type
  • Level
  • Price
  • Quality
  • Trait
  • Item is crafted or not
  • Item is stolen or not
  • Item has a set bonus or not

For example, you can set it to only junk the ingredients you loot that have 0g price value, or the normal quality (white) stolen treasures (but not the green ones).

Other Features:
  • NEW: The addon can automatically sell junked items to a merchant (not stolen items) or a fence (stolen items) when visiting them
  • You can add exemption rules that save and unjunk any special item that you want skipped by junkBuster
  • You can add rules to DESTROY items upon looting
Warning: Be very careful with the destroy option. Destroyed items CAN NOT be returned.

The screenshots show some sample rules that I use when playing.
There is an extended logging option available which provides the info for every looted item in the chatbox so you can fine-tune or make new junking rules.

Planned future additions:
  • Settings synchronization between different characters
  • Add support for FCO Item Saver
  • Allow addon to apply rules to (guild) bank too?
v1.61:
* Updated API version for game patch 3.3

v1.60:
* new Filters:
Filter Weapons by Weapon type (Sword, Axe,...)
Filter Armor by Armor Type (Light, Medium, Heavy, Clothing/No Armor)
* Removed a useless lone "0 items sold for 0g" message

* Realigned the controls in the create rule section to save some vertical space

* Added option to automatically sell junk when visiting a merchant (non stolen junk) or fence (stolen junk)
* Added option to filter for stolen or not stolen items

* You can now open the settings panel by typing /jb into the chat
* Corrected some trait and item quality names

v1.2:

* Rulesets can individually be turned on or off

I think this will be the problem. So simple! My bad. Thanks for the fast response!

Hello Sullie,
tried to reproduce your Error. Junking Petty Repair Tools works fine here (with name filter "petty" and item type "tool").
It might be that the "Keep"-rule targeting all tools is still active for you? Its in the default rules added to all characters when first logged in with the addon active. Keep rules overrule junk or delete rules so that may prevent your rule from working. If you want to see which rule the addon applies to a newly looted (or crafted/bought from vendor) item you can switch on the reporting settings in the addon config pannel. If all settings there are active the addon prints a message for each new item detailing if it got junked, destroyed, kept or looted. (Looted meaning no rule applied to this item).
I hope that explanation helps you

Despite its shortcomings Junkbuster is still hands down the best junk handling addon there is. Other junk handlers, that are much more popular, lack important core functionality like item quality or specifying a string text. For example Junkbuster is the only junk handler addon that I could setup to destroy all Treasure Maps except a few high value ones I want to keep, because they're valuable (Vvardenfall maps) purely based on a text string definition.

And an OCD type of feature request: the ability to change the order of the rules.

Command to rescan bag?

Hi thanks for this very useful AddOn!

I wonder if there is an option/a command to reapply the current rules to the bag. This would be useful during the initial setup.

And another great enhancement would be the possibility to create a rule from the selected item in the bag:
* right click on the item
* select "create rule"
* rule editor opens with all relevant fields filled to match the selected item

Are you plain to add FCO item support?
I'm not using this addon myself, but if there is sufficient interest I can definitely add support in the future. As this is probably some work and I'm not actively playing Eso at the moment, it will take some time.

I think this is pointless message
Let me guess: You talked to a fence, while having a non stolen item in the junk bag, a stolen item in your inventory, but no stolen item marked as junk? The only combination i could thing of which could cause this message to appear without any others (like "no fence sales left"). Will be fixed in the next version.

Please :P
It is already possible to filter weapons by their equipment slot(one handed, two handex, off hand (shield)). Just setItem Type = Weapon and select the desired slot. Armor type- (light, med, heavy, none) and Weapon type (sword, bow, two hand sword, fire staff, ...) are still missing sadly. They will be added with the next version too (probably till next weekend) once i figure out how to prevent the rule screen from getting even lonnger
