ResearchTimer  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)
Version: 1.98
by: hisdad, ALuserX
This addon keeps track of when research items will complete for all your characters.
It is similar to Ato's "Craft Research Timer", however it does a lot less.
The dialog isn't configurable and no, you can't move it.
No, it doesn't pop up alerts. (Wykkyds' taskbar can help with this)

You pop it up for a look in game, plan and put it away.

Remember:: Its primary use case is ##checking status offline##
The display is game is the minimum to be useful.

What is does, it does well.
The list of upcoming research completions is sorted.
The soonest are on top.

It comes with a little viewer that can show the same information from your desktop, without having to start the game.
Sadly the viewer is not unicode compatible and non-english users may see confused text.
## I've figured that out and will patch it sometime##

To use:
/rt to open and close dialog or create a keybinding.

The saved variables file is written with current information when you logout of that character.

Working with multiple accounts

I have multiple ESO accounts (not toons, but actual different ESO accounts). When I use the RTOffline viewer, it shows the details for one account (a more recent account, but not the original account or the most recently added account).

How can I tell it which account to use? I see all of the accounts listed in the ResearchTimer.lua file.

Edited to add I solved it. On line 28 of RTOffline.lua, I edited the script to replace the myaccount variable with the actual name of my account. Now it works.

You can either bind it to a key in the settings or call it with /rt in chat.

Hi everyone,

I updated this AddOn to support Jewelrycrafting and bumped the API for FoA and Blackwood.

You can find it here: https://www.esoui.com/downloads/fileinfo.php?id=3063

Hi team,
I've bumped the version to match the API.
I don't play ESO any more, so thats all the love it will get.

Remember:: Its primary use case is ##checking status offline##
The display is game is the minimum to be useful.

Just a heads up. With the latest ESO I am getting an extremely long game load time after login. The longest I waited was about an hour. So no idea if it ever loads of if it just hangs. Removing this AddOn fixed the problem. I love the idea of the AddOn. Shame it doesn't work for me. Oh well!

Simply because its not needed for its use case.
You are not walking around with it up.
If you move it, then you have to remember where its it.
All code that doesn't need to be there.

Yeah i'm going to have to really disagree with that statement. seeing as with some peoples screen setups this will happen.

Seems that all you need is to add next to GRID.lua:

and extend RT.GRID_Create() with next rows:
Yes, it's a nice plugin but I never use it since the window just overlapped with my other screen setup
But finally and fortunately, with your helpful input, I modified it accordingly and it works fine now! Thank you very much!

PS: I never registered this site until now, for this post.

Thumbs up Nice plugin

Hi.
Very helpful plugin. I like Show/hide binding from native Controls menu.
One question is: Why window move is not allowed?

Seems that all you need is to add next to GRID.lua:
Code:
RT.UI.GRID = {}
RT.UI.GRID.POSITION_DEFAULT = {
	offsetX = 10,
	offsetY = 10
}

local function OnMoveStop(self)
	if RT.UI.GRID.POSITION ~= nil then
		RT.UI.GRID.POSITION.offsetX = self:GetLeft()
		RT.UI.GRID.POSITION.offsetY = self:GetTop()
	end
end
and extend RT.GRID_Create() with next rows:
Code:
		RT.UI.GRID.POSITION = ZO_SavedVars:New("ResearchTimerGridPosition", 1, nil, RT.UI.GRID.POSITION_DEFAULT)
		if RT.UI.GRID.POSITION.offsetX == nil then
			RT.UI.GRID.POSITION.offsetX = RT.UI.GRID.POSITION_DEFAULT.offsetX
		end
		if RT.UI.GRID.POSITION.offsetY == nil then
			RT.UI.GRID.POSITION.offsetY = RT.UI.GRID.POSITION_DEFAULT.offsetY
		end
		RT.UI.GRID_TLW:SetAnchor(TOPLEFT, GuiRoot, TOPLEFT, RT.UI.GRID.POSITION.offsetX, RT.UI.GRID.POSITION.offsetY)
		RT.UI.GRID_TLW:SetMovable(true)
		RT.UI.GRID_TLW:SetHandler("OnMoveStop", OnMoveStop)

Edit: The period key will bring it back to mouselook, but the Research Timers window closes as soon as I hit period.

Further update: it seems to only happen when I close the RT window with the X button, which I'm in the habit of doing. ESC returns control to the mouse normally. I swear I tried closing by typing /rt a second time yesterday, but today that works. I'm thinking I only tried that after I had already closed the window using the X button, and it couldn't correct the problem, but doesn't appear to create it.
OK I've released 1.9 which I think should fix it (does for me)
If there are other issues, please let me know.

Thanks,

IUP 3.14

IUP 3.14 is out but it is packaged differently.

I have amended the instructions to specify 3.13
