 Only Show in Combat?

Does anyone know how to get the bars to only show when you're in combat? I selected 'Always Show' then deselected it and it made them go away outside combat, but then as soon as I cast my abilities, they show up as expected but then stay again in all windows even the CP screen and the like. Please help, this is annoying.
