The magic messages only work for future conversations not yet happened, it doesnt filter ones which already happened, also i want to search the sender's or recipient's name or ID to find the connected conversation, and not to search inside messages.

I found it! The "Alerter" is still an overlay even when "display alerter" is off. I activated it, dragged the icon somewhere else, disabled it again and now everything is working. Maybe you want to check on this overlay.

Thank you for the quick implementation. I did picture the buttons as red circles with lines through them (in one state). However, adding a mute function to that particular button worries me: an unintended left-click on that same button will delete the whole channel and its stored contents!

...with them, all TOM windows would have to grow 20-30 pixels and therefore i have dropped the idea in order to save space to keep TOM as smart as possible.
