Updating Another Author's Add-On

Sorry if I missed this in my forum search: what is this site's policy on updating another author's work? (Is there a post somewhere outlining this policy?)

Thanks!

P.S. I'm asking because ins:junkyard hasn't been updated since the ESO 1.1.2 patch, which broke several features, and causes crashes to desktop. I've fixed these issues but I'm not sure how/if I should post my work.

If the author authorized it, you can submit optionnals files for the addon.

Mah please upload your ins:junkyard fix! Need this addon to work!

Well the author is still logging into this site so I doubt he has abandoned them quite yet.

The addon was last updated a month ago and as you mentioned on the addon page there are no problems, however, if there are problems, report them on the addon page/portal as that may be where they concentrate their site time on.

When you start getting problems and you don't see a response from your queries about them then you can start considering patching the addon, which looking at the optional files patch section is possible.

I have PM'd the author and I'm waiting on a reply. Maybe I'll wait a day before posting my fix.

(Btw... my post on the addon's page doesn't say there are no problems... I report that there are problems, just that the latest version works better with ESO 1.1.2 than older ones.)

Ah, my apologies then, must learn to read properly :) I thought it was weird that you were asking the question rofl.

Most authors don't have any issue of posting a patch to their comments section.

I welcome them, and have let people edit things themselves when stuff broke.

Any updates on this? I realy miss ins:junkyard :(

The author did allow patches for ins:junkyard.

Well then YelloDello now just needs to upload it

Well, I gave the author a long time to respond, but he seems out of commission.

I've uploaded it in the optional files section and it's just awaiting approval from the mods.

EDIT: Oh wait, it's up already! Enjoy: http://www.esoui.com/downloads/info573.html
