Right now multiple Hirelings are bugged and does not work. If it will work on release or not is debatable but they may decide to not allow it.

Has anyone had a hireling yet.

Do they collect what ever and does it go straight into your Bank, as I have not heard anyone talk about a postal system yet.

I heard hirelings mail the items to you. Post is interesting to me, as it is different than Vanguard. There is no post box, just an icon. Click the icon when you want to check mail or send mail. I like it a lot.

Had it for enchanting. The hireling sends it to you post-box and you may just choose to open the attachments when you have enough inventory space ready.

a) different amounts of items
b) different types of items (basic materials or things to updgrade them in case of armor/weapons, I guess even recepies in case of provisioner or runes in case of a enchanter)

Once I had a legendary rune in it. Legendary. Gold.:D

Noticed the question about hirelings as an unregistered lurker and wanted to add that they send you containers filled with either ore (I got orichalc often, which I had no use for even at level 16 - though I could craft level 25-30 items with it), items for upgrading (got an epic > legendary one once). But what I found to be most rewarding with the hireling I had for heavy armor was the nitbits of text the mails contained; Mails from an orc named Aksel and his problems with his poorly mother and the cute grammar he supposedly wrote with ('monies', 'rite' instead of write and so on). :)

I must say I adore the crafting skills as they are at the moment. Also the aspect of finding crafting tables out in the open world with set boni, but which also require you to have researched a bit on the particular item you want to craft with said boni. :)

So here is my part on the crafting system.
  • Gather items and try not to sell them.
  • Check which items you are researchable. Save those items and keep research running! Try to keep research running on all 3 crafting stations at all time.
  • Extract any items that you cannot research.
  • Bunker trait gems.
  • If you have enough traits researched per slot (try to keep them even) you can craft set items. Those require traits learned per slot.

Nice summary, that´s the way to go. Just need to add not to bunker the trait or racaial gems in you personal inventory but rather your bank account. When you extract items you´ll end up with gems for every style in your inventory and you can use your space for more important things :)

Yes this is great advice - keep research running! :D

I was planning on spending a few points on my main for "see resources" for each type of item, then banking gathered resources. Choose one craft to learn, and split others across appropriate alts once I need it. Otherwise, I would just leave the stuff in the bank or inventories of mules.

Haven't decided what I want to learn, though.

I was planning on having each character specialising in 1 or 2 crafting areas spending points as needed. All characters gathering as they come across items, only putting points in if it is beneficial to that character.
