Minion is unable to connect to the internet
1 Attachment(s)
I last tried Minion when it was version 1.3
I have the same exact issue as last time. I start Minion, it says it can't connect, I click okay, Minion closes. I've tried both 32 and 64 bit versions. I currently have the 32 bit version installed. I have no active antivirus and my firewall is disabled. I have seen the post about changing my browser's proxy settings, which I did, but that didn't work. I also remember seeing a post months ago about issues with Bigfoot Networks killer wireless-n 1103 so maybe it's just impossible for me to use with this network adapter. Any ideas on how I could get Minion past the EULA?? .minion xml Code:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="no"?> Code:
[2015-02-16 08:36:38.INFO com.zam.minion.Minion logSystemInformation os.name=Windows 7 |
Hi Son_Raizen,
Open your minion.xml in a text editor and find the first <client> tag. Directly below that paste the following... Code:
<skip-network-check /> Code:
<client> Thanks! |
I no longer get an error message with the line added, but minion doesn't start. It shows up in the Windows Task Manager under Processes, but not Applications. When I remove the line, it gives the same error message as before. I get the same results on the 64 bit version.
.minion log Code:
[2015-02-19 08:40:41.INFO com.zam.minion.Minion logSystemInformation os.name=Windows 7 |
ipv6 vs ipv4?
May you facing an ipv6 incompatibility problem:
"I discovered a solution from a response to my post on the main Maven user forum. They suggested that I had run into an IPv4 vs IPv6 incompatibility problem and recommended either disabling IPv6 on my network adapter or using the -Djava.net.preferIPv4Stack=true VM arg. I tried disabling the network adapter and that had no effect but the VM arg (via _JAVA_OPTIONS env variable) solved the problem." from here: http://www.coderanch.com/t/588928/to...ght-connecting Just disabling the protocol binding may not help, because your DNS cache has an IPV6 address already. It's just an idea. I don't use minion. |

That worked! Thanks, votan.
I ran this in cmd Code:
setx _JAVA_OPTIONS -Djava.net.preferIPv4Stack=true |
votan, Thanks for posting this info! I'm glad it worked for Son_Raizen.
We are now working on a way for Minion to detect if this needs to happen and automatically set that environment variable. Also thank you to Son_Raizen for posting the result. |
Hi, I have the same problem but I fix it with the cmd command above too ! Thanks !!

Thanks for the heads up. The fix for Minion to autodetect this is taking way longer than planned. I hope to have something out soon though.
