Looking for something to hide guild advertisements

Cus I'm sick of them filling the chat. There's one other addon I've found which can do this, Guild Advertisement Filter, but it broke a while ago and the author has vanished. I believe it works by hiding chat messages that contain the yellow guild link.

Any hope for this one? LUA is beyond me and I've only found that one dead addon.

The addon you were using was checking in chat messages for this "pattern": %:guild%:
-> Tis should be the clickable guildId link in the chat messages, they look like this :guild<id>: I think.

As % cannot be used in manual chat filters, try to use this addon, and add the pattern
Code:

*:guild*:
(replacing the % with *)
to the custom filter list.

Maybe it will work and strip those messages again then.

rChat's spam filtering should be able to do this. It introduced the filtering of guild ads when it was able to look specifically for the guild links in chat.

(I say "should" because noone has reported the feature as broken - I don't normally use it.)

Just made a new and up-to-date addon that does exactly this, hope this helps :)

For more-option's-sake, there's also AdBlock. It's what I use.
