I had the same two errors listed above. I first downloaded the C+ 2010 and then noticed that java had an update avail. I went ahead and started that as well. Minion now opens just fine. Although...when I tried opening minion, the java update was still sitting on I think the last screen where it wants me to pick the extra stuff it adds, not sure if it was fully installed on that point.
My pc is win7, 64 bit, 6 core, 16 gb ram. (I doubt that has anything to do with it, but hey)
Also, the installer worked perfectly on my windows surface pro (first gen) 126gb. that of course is Win8.
Seems maybe some missing stuff with the win7 installer? I don't do coding, I just fix hardware for a living, so I have no idea. Coding has always eluded me..like math
