I was interested in starting a mentor/mentee add-on development program and wanted to gauge the interest of the community?
The idea sprung from what was going to be the original point of this thread: would anyone like a mentor/let me be an assistant add-on developer?
As I started typing I realized I can't be the only person only there that seems to hit roadblocks or plateau's that I just can't seem to cross without the help of an experienced developer?
Would love to see everyone's feedback. If someone is interested in letting me work as an assistant to them (be their menthe) then please PM me and I will gladly speak to you further!
- Checkout the official Lua Site for alot of Info on programming with Lua (use ZBS as a nice Playground to run lua scripts that don't do anything ESO related)
- Check out the Wiki on ESOUI
- Read thru Code of other Addons ,especially simple ones!
It helps especially to understand how the XML Part is working in ESO.
I think most of the serious Developers have not alot of free time ,to become a real "Mentor" ,but everyone can submit a little help to newcomers.
Thanks everyone. I think that list alone will help a lot of people. It helped me get my first few done and with some previous development experience I was able to pull off some cool stuff pretty quickly; for example, writing what were essentially Lua add-on's with C++ wrappers and vice-verse.
