Is it possible to unregister an event registered on a timer (OnUpdate)?

EVENT_MANAGER:RegisterForUpdate(moduleName, 5000, CA.PrintBufferedXP )

I see a lot of addons register this to a function called OnUpdate, and it ticks at that interval after being registered. Is there some way to unregister this event? I don't know how to reference it to stop it since it has a number in place of an event name.

Alternatively, I need to find some way to buffer without using zo_callLater.
