Minon completely blank!

Here;s going to be my rant about minion, the lack of updates to the 'how to install' guide and why I'm pissed off with it.. along with telling you that this is INSANELY FREAKING IMPOSSIBLE for someone new to it to use.

1. your images and guide, is severely outdated by almost four years.

This looks nothing like what's on the website for minion. No matter how many times I try selecting the addon folder for elder scrolls online - nothing ever loads. the add-ons I DO have installed are through curseclient and honestly i'm tired of this not working.

what in the freak is going on here - nothing should be behaving like this when it comes to automated addon installers/managers it should be simple and fluid for a user to install. quite frankly, it's disgusting that it's this horrid.

I've spent just over 24 hours now trying to get it to work, but nothing posted seems to really speak to what's going on. what's going on you ask? look in the video.
it never loads the game, the addons don't even load and it doesn't even recognize the addons folder in the documents folder. SO..

there's a lot that minion needs to freaking fix. Coincidentally, curse client actually works for:
searching
locating games
managing your installed addons
atually has file, edit, tools, help buttons near the top
allows for signing in!

all things that are claimed by the esoui people, for minion.

jesus tapdancing christ.

this is the majority of my complaint, along with a youtube video of the problem exactly.

mostly because I sincerely doubt that you'd believe me without it.

i'm running 64bit windows 10, 4 GB of RAM, integrated GPU, stable connection for internet at over 10mbps up and down, the installer file for minion is also 64 bit i believe... and the video should be sfw - as it's hosted on youtube.

I would ask more specifically for help with the problem - except it seems the problem is the program which doesn't want to work. I've managed to also find that both versions do the exact same thing. i'm going to include the logfiles though I doubt they're going to do any good. here goes.

youtube video of my experience using minion.: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1F5PjOjz6E4&t=9s

here's to hoping for some help, a LOT of ease of use fixes, and figuring out exactly why this darn thing is incapable of being used by the average user.

Maybe send the devs some money so they get more support instead of complaining over a free to use software "that rude"

btw: I had installed Minion without any screenshots and it was very intuitive and simple to setup imo ?
There is one dialog that asks for the games that I want to support, one dialog that askes for the location of ESO addons (if not found automatically) and afterwards it showed my manually installed addons and updated them properly with the "Update all" button.

If you got some problems you should:
-Check your firewall and allow minion
-Use the 32bit version if 64bit troubles somehow
-Update your antivirus rules and allow Minion
-Check if new bitlocker version is the problem to get connections
-Disable proxy for HTTP in Windows or setup Minion to use that proxy in the minion settings (button at top right corner of minion UU).
-Disable or check several threads about OneDrive and Windows 10 in this forum

Try to install and update the addons manually then, it's always possible:
http://www.esoui.com/forums/showthread.php?t=7351

I press my thumbs that it works for you. And don't forget to blame the addon devs for out of date addons later on

maybe you could press your brainmatter into reading everything then.

I've used both 64 and 32 bit versions and i'm pretty sure i've state that.

I don't use onedrive. microsoft bloatware is trash.

I won't give anybody money for somethign that doesn't work - do you ahve that kind of expendable income? if so, I've got student loans you can take care of.

the problems with manually installing addons are as follows:
- knowing exactly what the addon I'm looking for is called ( even though I generally have vague ideas of what I want, this requires me to know exactly what 7 billion people would ame these addons!)
- knowing the exact link to find and download them. (Again a problem with naming, and then link generation knowledge!)
- keeping them updated.

all thigns an addon manager is supposed to facilitate

i've checked my firewall, bitlocker and both seem to be fine. there was no request for an exception - but i made it anyhow.
i don't use proxy, and never have for something like this. my proxy use is relegated entirely to less acceptable things, like poking around torrent sites for example ( which i haven't done since 2008)

and for checking the several threads... several threads.. yeah, you're making a crapton of assumptions here buddy. who the fudge has time for wasting time like that? are you insane, or just not concious of people not wanting to spend time doing things that result in nothing?

Sylinus that is way out of line. I personally don't care if you direct your attitude at me but I will not stand for comments like that directed at members of our community just wanting to help. Please discontinue posting if you feel you need to post with such attitude against other members here.

Thanks Dolby, appreciated. If someone just wants the solution and that for free, installed at his harddrive, yesterday and with some cream on top, maybe even some ingame gold as excuse for the circumstances that his pc anf software setup wasn't know to Minion devs from the beginning (and you are able to read this from his first forum post) ...
I didn't expect something else.

Dood, maybe you should stop complainingg then if you do not consider to pay anything at all.
The software is free to use, works for serveral hundred users, except for you.
But you refuse to do what Dolby provided as an attempt to help you then?

You write in anger and blame me for not reading your long message. Ok, maybe I didn't see the sentence where you have written that you tested both clients. Sorry for that.
But maybe your aggressive writing style was the reason I decided to just stop reading

If you had just written your problem without all the "fu** this software is ****" attitude some ppl would be glad to help you. But you even go on like this if we try to help you

You should delete your user then at the forum as you do not seem to need it

P.S.
Bitlocker is said in other forums to be a problem with Minion and other Java software. Maybe you could search for it, if you find the time, and maybe it helps.

Hi Sylinus,

It's very strange there are no errors in the minion.log. I appreciate the video and all the info though!

I am wondering if the issue is in our AddOn detection since the log seems to stop in the middle of that.
- Stop/Close Minion
- Temporarily move or delete all the AddOn folders out of your C:\Users\<your windows username>\Documents\Elder Scrolls Online\live\AddOns folder so there is nothing in it.
- Start Minion again

If this works then I'd suggest its an AddOn from Curse causing this and if you could maybe zip up your AddOns and send them to me maybe I can reproduce the issue and possibly find out why Minion was choking? In the mean time I'd just use Minion to install all those AddOns you manually moved out of your AddOn folder.

Keep in mind that Curse is owned by twitch and has teams of people working on their app. We don't have that (all 9 of our sites are run by Cairenn & I and Minion is done by Jwood and I) and right now we are working on cleaning up Minion so we can open up the code to the community so they can submit PR's, etc.

actually, i tried minion first. same dang thing. so this suggestion, while helpful, would lead nowhere.

so the logs stop in the middle of the addon detection? wonder why.

While the OP hasn't resolved his issue I can say that, after much frustration and finally giving up on Minion detecting my addons (which the game itself did recognize, that I manually installed)...a week or so later I decide to try again and read these latests posts, take Dolby's suggestion to rename my addon folder then launch Minion (it created a new addon folder, properly), it worked. So I just moved my addons into that new folder.

My original issue likely came about since I had the game installed in an unorthodox location and had to work around that and simply figured it was that which was causing the issue.

I registered on the forums here just to say thanks.

Hi,

Just wanted to confirm that renaming the already existing AddOns folder also fixed this for me.

Guys, a little bit off-topic, but maybe you can help me.
Many students combine work with study: sometimes this choice is an important necessity. However, most often the guys want to earn money on their own, at least not to depend on their parents. Some systematically realize their ambitions: now, in addition to investing in their education and fastessay.net/cheap.html, they are ready to go to work for experience, for improving their abilities. I am interested in the question, which of you combines work and study? thanks
