Hidden or out of band addon chat?

I haven't seen any way to make an addon-only channel.

I see ways to make normal chat channels, but can you flag addon chat to be OOB and only be visible to other addons in a channel?

I have not seen anything on the wiki where I looked (NO PTS access here). In fact last time I looked I thought

was marked private, and wrote off all addon IPC.

SendChatMessage 100% works.

However, the commands for creating chat channels seem to be non-functional.

Ugh, too bad. Are you referring to the API commands that look like you can use or create custom chat channels?
