I have gone with dedicated controls because each addon may play with its controls. Controls may be created with a reference to use as a global name, or created manually (instead of through LAM). In the latter case, the control may still have nil passed to it as a name, and be referenced through a local variable only. So I can't just look to see if a name or reference is passed to the function to know whether to use a control from the pool or not. |

Forgot to mention... Controls are only created by LAM when the panel is shown. How often do you go through and open every single config for your addons? Even still, it will only affect static memory usage, not your performance. Control pools are a good idea where feasible. But in LAM, it's not the best. |
