CraftStore Enchanting interface

** Thank you very much for a great add-on! **

I use it on all toons to track research times & known motifs.
Just recently I have started trying the CraftStore interface for enchanting, and have a few requests please...

The level of rune is shown in the upper right - it is also a selection if the interface is set on armor/weapon/jewelry vs rune view. PLEASE show the name (Petty, etc) in front of the level numbers for paranoid clumsy folk like me who believe in always double checking before consuming runes... I do like that you remember what was last selected, but I still need to double check because sometimes...

On the rune view, you clearly show at a glance the quantities available of all runes EXCEPT aspect. It would be nice if you could show the aspect quantities as well (without requiring a mouse-over to see it)... This is the view I use when creating runes to be decon'ed, so then I simply consume whichever has excess stock.

You 'highlight' (put a glow behind) the potency & essence runes (very good!) - for consistency, it would be nice to do the same to the chosen aspect rune icons. It is very nice that you change the color of the text to match the selection... It is just that sometimes colors can be difficult to distinguish in game...

Is there a setting to select the quantity for a right click construction? It is currently set to 50 and I can not figure out how to change it. If there is not setting, would you please add one?

@justo: At the right upper corner you have 3 icons, the close x, the option gear and a quest icon. If you hover the quest icon, you will see a summary of your daily quest progress.

@Godzynon: Currently there is no other option than delete the saved variable to remove stored items from a deleted character. I work on a better solution. Reinstall is never necessary.

you got a function for diplaying daily crafting writs quests. But can you make something for ALL daily quest,
just so you can keep up with what you have done and what you need to do

Just a note: I deleted a toon and Craftstore kept showing that toon's supposed bag contents when hovering over items, despite me forcibly deleting the toon from the addon, and setting another one as my main character.

I had to uninstall the addon and manually delete the savedvariables to fix this issue, then reinstall it.

Hi,

CraftStore doesn't seem to be indicating items that have needed research traits anymore. I am pretty sure it used to? I just came back to ESO and upgraded to the latest version, but now it no longer indicates this information.

Am I just remembering wrong?

EDIT: Ok nevermind I figured it out. You have to activate the various craft types in the big matrix.

@Rosiv: I sleep a night and now i think i have a solution for a better handling of deleted chars and their data. I will release a new version after i have completed AlphaGear 4.00.

I'am sorry, but i have no possible method to rescan all items for all chars. This only happens if a char is activated. A method to remove stored items from deleted chars is also not possible, because i cannot ask the API which characters you have - i know only the active one and the saved chars (which include deleted).
Only way is to delete the saved variable (folder: ...ESO/live[eu]/SavedVariable/CraftStore.lua).

Refresh?

Hi!


A small but urgent question: How can I refresh the database of Craftstore?
I changed the Name of my Char and now, even I deleted the old one out of the overview, it shows me, that some items are in the backpack of the old name, and some are in the backpack of the now right and new named character.

Could you please help, how I may reset the db or force scan again?

The UI

Frankly, Craft Store could be renamed "Icons To The Max". What you really need to do is add a Key that the player can easily access on each page to see what each of the icons signifies or represents, i.e., by using that ancient technology we call "written words". By no means are any and all icons "intuitively obvious" even to those of us who use "intuition" to make decisions more often than we use logical reasoning.

First,
the icons at the top of the blacksmithing, clothing, and woodworking tables are so dim that I can barely see them, let alone recognize what they signify. They're also rather small. When I put the mouse cursor on an X or a checkmark in the table, Craft Store displays what appears to be either a tooltip or a dialog. The upper part is understandable. The lower part (separated from the upper pair by a blank line) seems to be an option that I should be able to select, but moving the mouse cursor closes the dialog/tooltip. As "information", though, the lower part makes no sense at all.

Second,
the Craft Store Enchantment crafting UI reminds me of the saying "An elephant is a mouse built to government specifications." Frankly, it makes no sense and I have no idea as to why anyone would need a search feature. It seems to me that you adopted the method that you chose to display data for blacksmithing, clothing, and woodworking, simply because, when the only tool you use is a hammer, then every problem starts to look like a nail.

On the whole, the Bethesda Enchanting UI is a sound approach to crafting glyphs. Nonetheless, I use the Voltan's Rune Tooltips addon, which adds the coresponding range of the item level to Potency runestone tooltips, and adds which type(s) of glyph that can be made with each Essence runestone to its tooltips.

Two other improvements need to be made to the TESO UI for Enchanting. One is to add the identifier for the Potency rune, for example, "Average" or "Strong", etc., to its tooltip. For example, it could say "Strong glyph for items level 41 - 50". This is desirable because the name of a Glyph always begins with the identifier (name) for its Potency level, e.g., "Average Glyph of Magicka ...". A Crafting Writ for Enchanting always refers to the glyph to be made by the name for the level of its Potency rune (the name of the Potency rune itself could be the first word in the name of the Glyph, but Bethesda didn't choose to do it that way).

The second improvement would be to display the two lines on the Enchanting Writ that specify the glyph to be made and the runestone to be "acquired", when an incomplete writ is currently in the avatar's Journal, if only as a reminder. Note that when the conditions of a writ are satisfied, the Journal entry changes to tell the player where to deliver the Glyph and its accompanying runestone. When that is the case, that information could be displayed on the Enchanting UI, instead of the conditions for fulfilling the Writ.

In my experience, an avatar cannot obtain an Enchantment Writ while the conditions of an existing Enchantment Writ recorded in the Journal have not been satisfied. But I don't know whether it is possible to obtain another Enchantment Writ before the glyph and runestone for a completed writ have been delivered. If a player can do that, then I don't know the potential consequences with regard to the respective writs, for example, whether completing the most recent writ will replace the existing one.

Third, as to adding an Alchemy UI to Craft Store, I affirmatively recommend that you examine existing Alchemy addons before you begin designing and coding. Personally, I use Potion Maker, which has a UI that is easy to use and gives me everything that I have found that I need as additions to the TESO Alchemy UI. It could be improved a bit, for example, with a feature to display existing potions that are in the avatar's bags and in the bank when the player chooses to use it -- and the data could be extended to include potions that are in the bags of the player's other avatars, too (if they have any).

Fourth, for provisioning, at present I use Master Recipe List. I haven't had the time to compare its features with those of the Craft Store UI.

In closing, I would like to observe that, ordinarily, the best addons do, in fact, add features and functions to the game UI, instead of attempting to replace that UI with the addon developer's own concepts. There are some UI replacements that have become legendary for their utility and features, such as Skyrim UI. Most such attempts, however, often leave much to be desired and are unacceptable to most players.

Thank-you for your time and attention to my remarks. I hope that I haven't made any factual errors, but, if I have, I believe that you should still get the gist of what I meant to say. :-)
