Combat Indicator  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)
Version: 2.00
by: GetBackYouPansy [More]
Overview
This addon changes your compass colour (to red by default) when you get aggro and are in combat. Then, it puts it back to normal - or some other colour - when the aggro has gone.

When you're in combat you cannot mount your horse, may not be able to pass through doors, and do certain other actions. This addon provides a simple and clear visual indication which is intended to complement the default UI.

Installation
  • Easy mode: Use Minion!
  • Hard mode: Download and unzip into your ESO Addons dir.
  • God mode: Git repository.

Settings

You can enable/disable the addon and change the in/out of combat colour overlays via Settings > Addons > Combat Indicator
Combat Indicator will not be updated for each and every release of ESO. This means that you may need to enable "Allow out of date add-ons" in order to use Combat Indicator.

v2.00
  • Maintenance release only.
  • Version update for ESO 3.2.11 (Clockwork City; API 100021 - ten API increments later and most things still worked!)
  • Updated to LibAddonMenu 2.0r25
  • Updated to LibStub 1.0r4
  • Internal code improvements to encapsulation and localisation
  • Removed support disguises, Combat Indicator is now just that and nothing else!

v1.45
  • Updated to LibAddonMenu 2r17, for better compatibility with ESO v1.6.x

v1.44
  • Version update for ESO v1.6.5 (Update 6; API 100011)

v1.43
  • Upgrade LAM2.0 to release 16.

v1.42
Internal version only.
  • Version update for ESO v1.5.x.

v1.41
  • Separated the addon version and the settings version so that settings are not necessarily reset every time you update Combat Indicator.

v1.4
Internal version only.
  • Updated for ESO v1.4.3 (Update 4; Upper Craglorn, Dragonstar Arena; API version 100009)
  • Combat Indicator can now tell you when you are in danger of pulling aggro while disguised. This is the same hint that the stock UI gives you via the crosshair/eyeball DANGER indicator. The default compass overlay colour is amber. This is a 'freebie' feature; it is a functional prototype for a similar feature I have planned for a later version if/when API support becomes available.
  • Upgraded LibAddonMenu (bundled dependency) to version 2.0. This moves the Combat Indicator settings from [Settings > Addons > PansyLabs Add-ons] to the combined [Settings > Addon Settings] menu.

v1.33
  • Updated for ESO v1.3.3/v1.3.4 (Dyes; API version 100008)

v1.32
  • Updated for ESO v1.2.3 (Veteran Crypt of Hearts; API version 100007)

v1.31
  • Updated for ESO v1.1 (Craglorn; API version 100004)

v1.3
  • Added settings menu which allows the aggro and non-aggro colouration to be configured. N.b. if you want the compass background to be transparent when you are not in combat, you should set your non-aggro colour to white, but drop the transparency (alpha) to, say, 100. Also n.b. the compass border and fill colour cannot be changed independently.
  • Made some small optimisations that should make the compass border more distinct when you have aggro, and your UI scale is small (<0.75). These can be enabled via the settings menu, and are effective even if you are using a larger UI scale.

v1.2
  • Added support for quest map pin areas (circles on the map). The greeny-blue compass decoration that indicates when you are inside a map pin area will now also turn red on aggro.

v1.1
  • Fixed a bug where combat state got stuck on 'red' if you died.

v1.0

Initial release.

Mira, I'm unable to reproduce the issue you've described.

I did a stock installation of the current version of ggFrames and had that, and Combat Indicator, as the only active addons. On log-in I didn't see anything.

v1.33

v1.33 just landed, this is just an API update for ESO v1.3.3/v1.3.4 (Dyes).

Unfortunately I have not had time yet to work on the bug where Combat Indicator doesn't play nicely with ggframes.

Re: Red symbol

You were right, though it seems to just occur with one addon, ggframes. When those two are active at the same time this http://i.imgur.com/uvMM19l.jpg appears on the screen, that symbol pulses in and out, but like I said they both go away as soon as I get something in the crosshairs.

Re: Red symbol

Hi Mira, firstly can you confirm that Combat Indicator is the problem by disabling all addons, seeing if the problem is still there, then enable only Combat Indicator and repeat the check? If/when you've confirmed Combat Indicator is the problematic addon, you provide a screenshot? This addon doesn't touch the health bars so I'd need to see the problem for myself.

Red symbol

When I load a character into the game the target health bar is displayed along with a strange bright red symbol under it even though I am not looking at anything with a health bar, this graphical bug goes away after I bring my crosshairs to a target with a health bar.

Small update today for ESO v1.2.3, no functional changes, just a new API version.

Thanks a lot for the updates! The only thing I wasn't crazy about was the brightness of the red in earlier versions.

Very simple, but very cool!

I was just thinking though that the default colour is a slightly golden/grey type thing, so maybe orange would be indistinguishable.
May be you can just add a simple pannel in settings menu, to allow each user to change colors as they prefer (personnaly red suits me perfectly).

Oh, and add a different color (configurable if possible) when we're stealth and not in combat would be nice.
The second yellow shade is pretty easy to see.

I don't know about others but I'm color blind to red and green. They both tend to show up as a grey-ish color which blends into the default compass.

It's been extremely helpful for us to produce timed sneak attacks from stealth. It's a great add-on. Definitely a must have for Pvp groups.

Colours now configurable

Hi everyone, those wanting more colour options (e.g. green for non-aggro, not using red for aggro, or transparency when not in combat) should update to v1.3. Note that as before the compass fill and border cannot be changed independently.

Thanks

I've linked this to a few clan members who have found it very very helpful.

If it's not to much trouble a colorblind version would be nice. With say, gold-ish yellow instead of red for still in combat.

Either way nice add-on.

I've looked into whether it's triv to fill the entire compass with red, which is something a couple of people have asked about and, basically, it's not. I would have to replace the compass textures or overlay something new. The whole compass "black bit" and "border bit" are a single image. Making the edge go red is easy, but the middle bit is black and it will always be black. I'm reluctant to force the issue as I'd like to keep the addon simple/minimal, hope you guys understand.

That said, I have made some small tweaks to the "make it go red" code so that the red is more prominent when using small a UI scale (<0.75), cos the current version is pretty dim when the UI scale is small. I'm testing these changes atm and will hopefully release shortly Hopefully you will find the compass border is much more obviously red when you have a small UI and get aggro.
