SoftcapInfo  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)
Version: 1.2.3
by: Shinni [More]
Since 1.6 there are no Softcaps (diminished returns on stats) in ESO anymore. You can savely remove this addon.

This addon displays the softcap for each stat. If a stat is overcharged, it also displays how many points are "lost".

It's pretty simple but it can be a huge help to know how many statpoints you are away from the softcap or how many points you should rearrange.

Display:
400/500
You have 400 statpoints and the softcap starts at 500.

510+5/500
You have 510 statpoints, but without the softcap of 500 you would have 5 points more (so 5 points are lost).

Attention:
There is a bug in the API. The lost statpoints (red numbers) may be larger than displayed.
The softcaps however are correct.
- 1.2.3
- compatible with Update 5

- 1.2.2
changed api version yet again
i really like it when addons just work :D

- 1.2.1
changed api version number

- 1.2
added eula
changed api version number

- 1.1
fixed error caused by api change
changed api version number

In short, if you are not prepared to do the tasks and take the responsibility of an addon author, then leave the task up to others. The only laziness I see is someone telling all inexperienced users to edit his addon in notepad, because he is lazy to upload a new version!

Sheesh

I had no problem with checking the box to allow outdated add-ons when the only thing that needed a change was the API version value.

Demanding an author upload a new version to change a "4" to a "7" so you do not have to check a box and your auto-update utility works correctly. Really? Then lecturing about an author's responsibilities to mask you laziness and ignorance? Putz.

Add-on authors are not getting paid. If you donate it is for what has been provided up to that point. The add-ons cost the users nothing. There is no obligation to keep an add-on current. I greatly appreciate when add-ons are re-written/updated. I never expect it and certainly do not demand it. Add-on authors spend their personal time to share their work to make our play experience better. Show some gratitude.

If there is nothing to fix however, I don't see changing the version number as responsibility. I mean, the addon still works without changing it...

Anyhow, I guess in the time I wrote the last two posts, I could've updated the version number a couple of times xD
So yeah, I'll update it.

edit:
meh, and i'll have to include that eula thingy

Just hit "load outdated addons" or change in the SoftcapInfo.txt
## APIVersion: 100004
to
## APIVersion: 100007

I'm too lazy to upload a new version because of one single character...especially if the addon can be used by checking a checkbox.

edit:
Or did you encounter a bug/crash?

You can get this information from the default UI:
Lua Code:
  1. local softCap = GetStatSoftCap(derivedStat)
List of derived stats: http://wiki.esoui.com/Globals#DerivedStats

If you want just to print softCap value to the chat, use this slash command:
Code:
/script d(GetStatSoftCap(STAT_HEALTH_MAX))

I made the addon, and uploaded it here. I could cap it at 50%, but right now it isn't. Because my formula isn't extremely precise, I'm not sure if capping it at an exact "50%" is necessarily meaningful.

I'm very interested in an addon for this if Shinni doesn't choose to include it.

//Edit: It's currently showing percentages beyond the hardcap though. It should probably stop going up at 50%.

I'm not sure if you really want this in your addon, but I've added some stuff you might be able to use. I got tired of no addons having actual values for armor and spell resistance, so I inserted it with your stuff. (Open the spoilers to see different sections of my stupid-long comment.)

Which version of extended stats do you use? I downloaded 1.1 and it works fine. Can you post a screenshot of the error message?
