PinKiller  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)
Version: 2.3
by: Shinni [More]
Adds a lot of pin specific settings to the game. You can select which kind of pins you want to have displayed on your compass, on the worldmap and in the world (floating pins).

- You could for example select to only display tracked quest pins (and hide secondary quest pins) to focus on one specific quest.
- Or you could completely hide all quest pins except the quest offer pins, for a challenging and immersive gameplay. You don't have to fear missing a quest but you could finally actually search, when the quest asks you to "search for x".
- You could also hide quest pins except if the target is behind a door. This way you would know in which dungeon you have to go but you wouldn't know the location of your target inside the dungeon.

If you like challenging and immersive gameplay, try
SlowDialogs and TrueExploration.

Feature Request

Any chance we could get one more toggle option in the addon configuration? "no player location" visibility. I'd like to use the map without my Player Arrow marker and have the map serve as just a map. Currently use the no markers option for all quests and love it but I also want to have to determine myself where I am on the map.

So far I've learned all of Auridon by heart thanks to this nifty AddOn. Character play time to level 17 took me four days. <-- lol .... but I have fun all the same.

I had to add PinKiller.SetSettingsPins() to PinKiller.OnAddonLoaded() to get the settings to update upon starting the game.

Edit: Thanks for the quick fix.

Thanks Shinni you're the best. I love this and True Exploration. Can't live without them. So much more enjoyment.

Another request (I know, I know): A keybind toggle to enable/disable the entire add-on. Occasionally (somewhat frequently), I simply can't complete a step without the pins because it's not really possible. We either have to disable the add-on entirely or change the pin settings under the add-on settings menu. A quick keypress would do wonders, but not a big deal.

Thanks again for the other additions.

That's unfortunately an unfixable issue. The game doesn't give us addon developers any tools to disable specific quest pins. We can only disable all pins or none.
That's why the only way to disable crafting writs is to disable all pins, if the player is near a writ - or in this case, if the player is in a city that offers crafting writs.
If you want to prevent this error, you best enable crafting writs in the settings. If they're enabled, all the other settings work exactly the same way as the previous versions of PinKiller.

@the other posts:
I'll add the grouping pins options and will try to fix the quest area indicator on the compass.
I'm quite busy right now with reallife stuff but I think I'll be able to push an update during this week.

I haven't used anything since 1.6 as the updates always crashed me periodically. So maybe look at what changed from the version. Maybe I'll give this latest iteration as a test. But I always end up back at 1.6.
The game removes all pins on its own after each loading screen. The addon must then enable them again. In 1.6 I forgot to add this routine, so after a loading screen (except the first one, when you log in) you won't see any pins anymore. If you disabled all or most pins, you probably haven't seen that bug with the 1.6 version.
The in 1.7 added reload routine was causing the crashes, though I'm not exactly sure how.

edit:
added the options but i wasn't able to test the ressurection, follower and group pins.

Thanks. Just like that. Would be a sweet addition to this add-on. ;-)

I am so screwed up in the head

LoL,
I actually have seven or so addons that add pins! And an addon that puts pins built in a standard way on my MiniMap.
I can't imagine ever turning pins off!!

It reminds me that every human brain processes things differently. For me, I need as much information as possible on the screen.

A few requests which I believe fit nicely into this add-on.

The compass still gets a blue highlight when you enter a radius for some quest objectives even with everything off. See this screenshot:

A nice feature would be the elimination of this blue outline as well as the removal of the blue "help" text if possible. The add-on Combat Indicator highlights the compass in red when in combat so not that you need the help but that could point you in the right direction for setting the outline if there's an event for entering the radius. Not sure about the text.

Also under interface there are three immersion breaking settings that don't persist between logins. They are Indicators for Group Members, Resurrectable Players and Followers. The option to set these within Pinkiller and having them update to those settings at startup would be huge.

The add-on Photographer turns these settings on and off to take "clean" screenshots. So the hunting is mostly done for you.

Thanks for your consideration.

I was finally able to crash my game. Never thought I'd be happy about that
I did some changes to PinKiller and it worked for me. I hope this fixes the issues for you too.

I can't explain why the crashes are happening, because I use the function in exactly the same way as the default UI.
The bug is also really hard to reproduce. Since the 1.6 version of PinKiller I haven't encountered any crashes. Even if I choose the same settings as stealthbr.
I think it might be a hardware sided issue or something deep inside the eso engine.
Maybe the texture PinKiller is using has some weird encoding that not all graphic cards are able to load.
Those encountering crashes, can you please post your craphics card?

Unfortunately, the crashes have returned =/. This time, I have everything marked as OFF. Crashes happen when I use a wayshrine or I resurrect at a wayshrine.
