BuffTimers2  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)
Version: 2.31.1
by: uta.karas [More]
I decided to maintain BuffTimers addon.

What is this exactly?
With this you can make completely stand-alone timer bars for one specific spell each. You just go in settings (see pictures), choose how many bars you want, and then choose for every bar what spell it should show, also the size, colors and optional notifications(sound+text) can be customized.

READ BELOW BEFORE USE!
The name of effect is not always the same as the spell that causes it. (ex: Elemental Drain from Destruction Staff skill line doesn't have the effect of own skill, need to use Minor Magickasteal for track) I included a debug mode that will output all effect changes into chat, activate it in settings, then use the spell you want to track and check how it's actually called.

Wish List
  • Add buff-source setting (self caused buff only / all sources / external source only)
  • Allow to add custom hooks to various events (gain/update/fade) (e.g, start 'Acuity Fatigue' custom timer when 'Mechanical Acuity' fades
  • Add size/font settings to Notification
  • Add color settings individually by abilities to Notification
  • Add display style of timer in icon without bar
  • [implemented on v2.23.1] Add more sounds for notification
  • [implemented on v2.19.3] Add color settings to Icon and TimerText
  • [implemented on v2.19.2] Allow to drag the bars by the icons instead of only being able to move them by clicking the timer bar
  • [implemented on v2.19.1] Allow to use abilityId instead of effectName
  • [implemented on v2.18.0] Reverse bar (bar decreases left-to-right, instead of default right-to-left)

Issue List
  • [fixed on v2.29.0] the timer didn't disappear when Concentrated Force (proc of Asylum Destruction Staff) was consumed
  • [fixed on v2.29.0] the timer didn't disappear when Wrath of Elements (proc of Vateshran Destruction Staff) was disconnected
  • [fixed on v2.29.0] the timer didn't disappear when Force Overflow (proc of Vateshran Restoration Staff) was disconnected
  • [fixed on v2.22.1] the timer didn't disappear when Blastbones exploded
  • [fixed on v2.19.4] No notifications shows up when the buffs consumed
  • [fixed on v2.19.1] the timer didn't disappear when Defensive Posture (and morphs) was consumed
  • [fixed on v2.18.6] the timer didn't disappear when Crystal Fragments proc was consumed
  • [fixed on v2.18.5] the timer didn't disappear when Varen's Wall (proc of varen's legacy set) was consumed
  • [fixed on v2.18.4] the timer didn't disappear when Reflective Scale (and morphs) reflected all 4 projectiles
  • [fixed on v2.18.4] the timer didn't disappear when Defensive Rune was consumed
  • [fixed on v2.18.3] when you cast Boundless Storm or Power Surge before the timer end the addon doesn't track it anymore

Sry i can't even investigate by your information. need more details.
This addon didn't support multi-language files at all atm so I believe non-existence of french language file is not matter.

Thanks for your requests, they are now in wish list.

Using IDs

Hey there, I know being able to use ID is in the wishlist, so I'm not wanting to request that again, but I was wondering how I could implement something like this change that was done for the original addon in my personal file since "functions.lua" isn't a thing anymore.

Please allow us to drag the bars by the icons instead of only being able to move them by clicking the timer bar. It would also be nice if you could just make an option to disable the timer bar altogether and just have the numbers on the icon instead.

I say this because I personally like having the timers on the icon instead of a timer bar and I know many others do so as well since it's a very common tracking method in MMOs.

I was able to get the numbers on the icon by setting both the width and height of the timer bar to zero and turning on reverse bar direction.

However, when I did this I was unable to move the bar to place it where I wanted because the timer bar was no longer visible so there was nothing to click on.

So I went back and enabled the timer bars and positioned them where I wanted thinking I would just put width and height back to zero after and it would be fine....but making the timer bars invisible after placing the icons made them come out in different positions with bars overlapping each other.

It's just a mess to setup for someone that wants to save UI space and not use timer bars but rather display the timer on the icon.

Great functionality in this addon though. Very useful. I can track everything I want very easily. My only concern other than not being able to drag the icons is that I would like more than 15 bars so I can just use one profile for the whole account.

Thanks!

Another example would be Varen's Legacy 5p buff to AOE dmg. Pre-summerset, when I cast an aoe dmg ability (consuming Varen's buff) this is reflected on my timer bar and notifications. Post-patch, however, the bar simply continues to decrease to 0 sec as if I still have the buff on me (after I have consumed the buff with AOE cast).

Yes, under all three scenarios I'd like to have the addon give notification (just like it did pre-summerset patch).

1.) 4 ranged attacks
2.) 6 sec duration passes
3.) recast wings before 6 sec duration

#2 and #3 apply to other standard buffs too such as Major Sorcery/Brutality, Major Mending, etc.

Right now, setting a notification @ .5 sec buff time remaining works perfectly. So under #2 it can signal when buff is almost expired. However, setting it to 0 sec simply breaks this functionality as nothing happens and no sound/notification is ever produced regardless of #1, #2, or #3.

It meant that you want to get noticed (with sound) when DK wings run out by reflecting all 4 projectiles, right?

Major Defile seems to work fine for me.

I guess you want to track debuffs (like defile) which you get.
It's not the feature of this addon. it made for tracking abilities you use.

PSA: Fix Me

Hi,

I wanted to thank you first for updating coolmodi’s old addon. I’ve been a happy customer for years and wanted to point out one bug that seems to be shared by both coolmodi’s old vrs and your updated one.

Skills are registering fine, but the issue I’m getting is that there seems to be some disconnect in the way buffs are phased out between client and addon. Let me present an example; DK Wings is on a 6 sec duration or 4 attack max whichever comes first. However, if I attach a noise to the 0 sec buff timer mark (addon plays noise when buff reaches 0/runs out) the addon doesn’t seem to register either buff removal scenario and plays NO noise regardless of whether I allow Wings to run out, recast <6 sec, or am attacked by 4 ranged.

Hopefully that explanation is clear. Would love it if you could fix since delegating visual bandwidth to audio was a huge PLUS for the addon (this bug only occurred post-summer patch). Happy to answer any Qs u might have about this experience.
