Thanks to CaptainBlagbird for creating the original Quest Map program. Please see his ESOUI entry for the addon description and update history.
Since no one has changed this addon for a while and I needed it to supplement what MapPins does, I opted to update the Libraries and API to WolfHunter (4.1) specs. I could have continued to use Destinations to pick up the quest givers but Destinations plus MapPins was overkill, in my opinion, and the MapPins author has indicated that he was not interested in adding quest giver locations to his addon program.
Quest Map works for me on PTS and on Live (NA Servers); however, I have yet to go into any DLC content released after Wrothgar. Hopefully, this addon will pick up the new zones and sub-zones automatically. If it does not, then I shall have to apply my limited .lua programming knowledge toward obtaining the quest giver location data for the missing zones and sub-zones.
Which means if you cannot find a quest giver, then I too probably cannot find that quest giver and I am already (slowly) working on finding a way to update the data files to provide the information we both would like to see.
Should you have a request, or should you like to report a bug, please feel free to do it here. However, if you just want to bitch about something this addon does that you don't like, please be aware that I reserve the right to ignore pointless or brainless complaints!
FYI, I am a retired C++ and OOP application programmer, analyst, developer, and consultant. I am not dumb; however, I am ignorant about .lua programming, the ESO APIs, and what they both can do. Constructive direction, guidance, assistance, and critiques will be acknowledged and appreciated.
Thank you all for your patience.
Version 2.0.1:
Nothing new in the program code; however, thanks to Kyoma's inputs and Hawk1889's files, the Quest Names and Completed Quest Ids files have been updated to the Summerset/Wolfhunter/10024 ESO release.
The bad news is that this still won't display quest giver pins on your world and mini maps until one of your characters has started or completed that quest; however, once one of your characters has started or completed the quest, it should become visible to all of your characters.
The good news is that once you find a quest giver in any zone and start a quest or story line, the follow on quest givers WILL show up on your world and mini maps.
I am continuing to work on the Zone and Subzone data files to get them updated so all your "to do" starting quests will automatically display on your world and mini maps whenever you enter a zone.
Once again, thanks for your patience.
Version 2.0.2:
Is here. The issues with QM and the ESO API 100025 addon loading changes have been resolved. Please do not tweak any of the *.txt files you find in the addon and library folders; they are there for compatibility reasons.
Version 2.0.2+:
Fixed the nested folders issue with LibMapPins-1.0. I apologize for the mistake but that's the way ESOUI downloaded that addon to me. Changed the Optional Category back to "Map, Coords, Compasses".
Version 2.0.3:
Is in development. Hawkeye and I are busy manually updating the QM tables with Murkmire data... but it is going very slowly. We will keep you posted as we get closer to a release date. What I thought would take a day or two has grown to several days or more due to the table updates which require highly intensive, manual updates to multiple tables to make one quest giver appear on your map(s).
So I guess this "continuation" of Quest Map is just as abandoned as the original. Didn't even take long. lol
Trolling developers will get you nothing when you report an error! I have been very busy working on collecting the data and learning about the 100025 API changes to finish the Quest Map 2 upgrades which changes how quest givers are found and recorded by using LibGPS2 rather than LibMapPins. The former makes automating and finding quest giver information much easier and updating quest tables for your player(s) with QuestMap Scout 2 much simpler.
Patience is a virtue! Ask any married man or woman.
wrote about Quest Map 2 and QuestMap Scout 2 so I put them in the database of addons but I did not find them so they did not yet publish them? but are you preparing to publish these addons?
Yes, we are but it's going slowly as I am the major coder and I am having to learn QuestMap, the Lua language, LibGPS2, and the ESO API (and its undocumented features) concurrently (ie. at the same time).
The good news is that the Maps tables module has been completed recently and I am continuing on with the zone, subzone, and odd ball maps (eg. Cyrodill).
Much has changed since CaptainBlagbird first wrote this addon so much of the code has to change to take advantage of the newer ESO features. For example, writing the Maps table module means that neither Hawkeye1889 nor I will have to manually update the Maps tables again. Quest Map 2 will automatically reload the Maps tables to pick up the new Maps whenever ESO releases an update. Hawkeye and I are applying similar approaches to load the zone, subzone, and quest tables.
Right now, the API 100025 problems loading QuestMap 2.0.1 have been repaired in the soon to be released, QM 2.0.2 along with some helpful information about the Murkmire zone. The latter requires many manual table updates so please be patient. Neither Hawkeye nor I can code and update tables at the same time...
thank you for your reaction, patiently when you release quest map 2 and I hope you will be able to get the quest map soon 2. I wish you many successes in creating quest map 2

I am working on this. API 100025 (Murkmire) changed the way libraries load. I should have it fixed in a day or two.

do you plan to issue a completely new version of the addon questmap under the name questmap2?
Yes. But I intend to honor CaptainBlagbird for thinking of adding quest pins to the World Map and for writing the original Quest Map addon program.
Can I expect to have released my own questmap version of it here?
@vecny.samotar, if you have a Quest Map version that displays more quest pins, has been thoroughly tested on PTS, and does not generate ESO error screens when you load it or use it while playing the game, please upload your update as a version 2.0.2 Patch so you can give yourself credit for your work.
Hawkeye1889 and I welcome everyone who wants to join us in getting this addon working properly.
we probably did not understand
you wrote that you are planning to release your own version, that is to say, the new addon questmap, and my question was that it would not be on this page (Blagbird's Quest Map by Drakanwulf) but it will be a new page and it will probably be a name and I do not have to worry about adding addons anymore, but the addon is already published (I mean the new addon) ...
so my question was when the new addon questmap was released, but you will write what comments on that page (Blagbird's Quest Map by Drakanwulf)
There will be a new page and addon named "Quest Map 2" whose author(s) will be Drakanwulf and Hawkeye1889. This Quest Map page will be deleted and all prior Quest Map versions will be moved to the "Obsolete and No Longer Maintained" category.
ok, like info wanted to know, so when it runs its own version of questmap so this page will not be available anymore? good to chap? and the data will be ascertained from the release of your version (posted). on the addon update I use the minion and there is some problem finding the addons because I wanted to notice that you have already launched my version of questmap
Yes, when you see Minion not finding this Quest Map, that is the time for you to Search for "Quest Map 2" to add to your list of Minion addons.
