JunkBuster  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)
Version: 1.91
by: ADH, Atoom
Now compatible with 8.2.0 Firesong!

This addon provides a rule-based system to put items in your junk bag or destroy them

Unlike the other automatic junking addons, JunkBuster allows you to filter items by any combination of the following criteria:
  • Name
  • Item Type
  • (Specialized) Item Type
  • Equipment slot
  • Weapon/Armor type
  • Level
  • Price
  • Quality
  • Trait
  • Actor type (Player or Companion)
  • Item is crafted or not
  • Item is stolen or not
  • Item has a set bonus or not
  • Recipee is known or not

For example, you can set it to only junk the ingredients you loot that have 0g price value, or the normal quality (white) stolen treasures (but not the green ones).

Other Features:
  • The addon can automatically sell junked items to a merchant (not stolen items) or a fence (stolen items) when visiting them
  • You can add exemption rules that save and unjunk any special item that you want skipped by junkBuster
  • You can add rules to DESTROY items upon looting
Warning: Be very careful with the destroy option. Destroyed items CAN NOT be returned.

The screenshots show some sample rules that I use when playing.
There is an extended logging option available which provides the info for every looted item in the chatbox so you can fine-tune or make new junking rules.

Planned future additions:
  • Allow <=, >=, == selections for item quality
  • Add support for FCO Item Saver
  • Allow addon to apply rules to (guild) bank too?

I have 2 issues currently.

I can't find an option to junk Monster Trophies. I have Trophy set to junk, but it still ignores these items.

High quality (i.e. blue) fish are not junking. (I'm wondering if it's because they hit the Keep any colored item that is not stolen first)

If you need any more information please let me know, it's probably easiest to contact me on discord: dianne#4667

Oh, and apparently museum pieces are being counted as trash, I don't see an option for those either, collectable maybe?

1. The addon itself doesn't have a function to sync settings between accounts, but its relatively easy to do out of game. At least for the "account wide" settings profile. The character specific settings are saved by that chars unique ID (not its name), so will be more complicated - but not impossible to change those: 1. Log out of eso. 2. Open the addons saved variable files with a text editor. its usually at C:\users\<yourName>\Documents\Elder Scrolls Online\live\SavedVariables\JunkBuster.lua 3. You should see [] brackets with your account name relatively close to the top 4. Copy that and everyting within the following {} brackets and paste it after said {} bracket. 5. Change the acc name in the pasted [] brackets to your other account name. (if you already have a section for your second account in that file (probably yes) you need to remove that first. The game will only load one of those sections with the same account name.

2. I'd need screenshots of your whole settings page for JunkBuster (general settings at top + all the configured rules) otherwise I'm afraid i won't be able to explain why any of your rules might not be working

3. Well I'm always short on gold in ESO so donations won't be turned away xD I'm on the EU server though so it would only work if you there too (acc name is @Atoom) as Mails don't work between different regions. Also I'm currently not that actively playing but plan on coming back once Elsweyr (and most importantly the Necromancer) launces xD.
Can't speak for ADH though as he hasn't worked on the addon in years and my only contact with him was back then when I took JunkBuster over from him.

Another feature request: ability to switch between fields with Tab key.
Yep the first request would be pretty useful to implement I agree. The problem is that the item quality (and basically almost all other options with drop-down menu selection of different types other than on/off) is that they point to constants defined by ZoS' addon API. Those are only provided by name meaning their acutal numeric value isn't known to me. It won't be that straight forward to implement correct matching for greater/less comparisons that is guaranteed to stay the same in the future. It is possible - at least for the item quality - but it will require a bit of work.
The "switch fields by tab" request sadly is somewhat out of my area of expertise. The base elements of the configuration menu are provided by the commonly used LibAddonMenu (https://www.esoui.com/downloads/info7-LibAddonMenu.html) which is included in JunkBuster. I don't know if there is an option to enable such a function for settings pages created by it, but i don't think so. And I'm not confident I could implement it myself without breaking the menu completely.

It used to be that there was no convinient function to check if a character already knows the recipe taught by a recipe item. Other addons implementing such a function did it by tracking all learned recipees by themselves which would be quite a lot of work. It might very well be possible now that there is a more convinient function in the API available to do that. If so I'm totally going to implement it in the future.

But sadly I'm not actively playing ESO atm, so many other games that suck up all my time :/ So I don't have time to implenent new functions for JunkBuster atm. I do plan on playing ESO again when Elsweyr launches though (always wanted a Necromancer ).

yes!!!
pls try the /jbil chat command (explained a few posts back) with the item. It'll probably show you that regardless what the tooltip says its base itemtype is trash. The game actually has a 2-layered itemtype system with primary itemtype (the one you select as itemtype for a rule here, and the default "destroy worthless trash" rule looks for) and a specialized sub-Itemtype which is often the one displayed on the tooltip.
(But if the command shows something else please post a screenshot with that commands output for this item and one of your rules list and i'll look into it)

Edit:
Wait, maybe i misread your post. Do you mean ZoS changed it in a recent patch? That would indeedbe very nice of them
Yes, that was a quote from patch notes.

Well, sadly ZoS didn't implement the note as quest item, or collectible. They chose to implement that item with itemtype Trash which explicitly implies it has no purpose and can be sold/destroyed with no consequence... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

On another note: The reason why there is no explicit "is not crafted" condition but instead that behavior is the default setting if the crafted condition is not set is simply:
Before there was a configurable condition for this the "is not crafted" condition was hardcoded for all rules in the background. Had I changed the default behavior to "can be crafted" aka. ignore this like any other condition it would indeed have been more consistent. But also it would have radically changed the behavior of all the rules for every user. Like for example trashing every crafted restore all "Poiton of Health" instead just the worthles simple "Potion of Health" that drop from mobs. And that weighted more in my opinion. There is a warning sign with tooltip next to the crafted condition though explaining this anomal behavior
