Foundry Tactical Combat (FTC)  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)
Version: 0.72
by: Atropos [More]
Foundry Tactical Combat is a user interface enhancement for The Elder Scrolls Online designed to give players access to relevant combat data in an easy to process framework which allows them to respond quickly and effectively to evolving combat situations. The multiple components of the FTC addon are designed to restore certain information to the game interface which many gamers may feel is missing from the default minimalistic UI.

The addon is still in active development by Atropos, and will hopefully continue to evolve and improve during the coming weeks and months. If you are a fan of the addon, keep an eye on the main addon page on Tamriel Foundry to ensure you always have the latest version.

FTC Components

Foundry Tactical Combat has six primary components which are each optionally configurable. All UI elements added by FTC can be disabled or repositioned to suit your preferences. Additionally, Foundry Tactical Combat is fully localized for French and German client versions!

Unit Frames – FTC Unit Frames refers to the display of attribute bars and other information pertaining to yourself, your target, and your group members. The FTC frames are designed to be lightweight and informative. The frames show numerical values for your resources and damage shielding, as well as visual indicators for active HoT and DoT effects, your target’s exceute threshold, and more. The unit frames can have a rich set of aesthetic customization options allowing you to achieve the exact look that fits your UI style.

Active Buff Tracking – The Buff Tracking component of FTC displays a configurable list of icons representing the known buff and debuff effects that are currently affecting your character. The ESO addon API does not provide this information for buffs with durations shorter than 30 seconds, but FTC uses an intelligent combination of detection mechanisms to carefully approximate your inventory of active effects. This knowledge can help you make more informed combat decisions, improve your resource management, and optimize your ability rotation.

Combat Log – Foundry Tactical Combat incorporates a text-based combat log which records a history of combat events so that you can review the details of recent encounters. The combat log by default alternates visibility with the ESO chat tab, but can be detached and positioned wherever you desire on-screen. An optional keybinding can be used to quickly toggle the visibility of the combat log.

Scrolling Combat Text – The FTC Scrolling Combat Text component enables real-time display of damage and healing values as they occur in combat as well as a helpful Combat Alerts component that warns your character immediately when significant combat events occur. FTC’s combat text displays the name and icon (when possible) for known sources of damage as well as useful indicators for damage avoidance through shielding, blocking, or dodging. The display style and format of scrolling combat text events can be customized in the settings menu.

Damage Statistics – The Damage Statistics component adds analytical tools to help you examine and improve your combat performance. While in-combat a small DPS meter tracks the length of your current encounter, your cumulative damage-per-second, and your cumulative healing-per-second throughout the fight. After combat has concluded, you can open a full Damage Report which details the composition of your damage and healing by target. These statitics can be linked to your party members in chat using a configurable keybinding or by clicking on the chat icons in the damage report.

Advanced Hotbar – The Advanced Hotbar component improves the default ESO action bar by adding some additional information that is useful in combat. Your current Ultimate pool and your percentage towards the next Ultimate activation is displayed as well as a visual glow indicator behind the ultimate itself which indicates that you are currently generating additional Ultimate in combat. The Advanced Hotbar component also adds an explicit potion cooldown timer so you can know exactly when you will be able to use your next consumable item.

Installation Instructions
To install Foundry Tactical Combat follow these steps. FTC is also supported by Minion, an automated ESO addon management utility.

1) Download FTC_Current.zip to a location of your choosing.
2) Extract the .zip archive into your ESO addons folder found in My Documents/Elder Scrolls Online/live/Addons/ for Windows users, or Documents/Elder Scrolls Online/live/Addons. for OS X.
3) You should now have a folder inside Addons named “FoundryTacticalCombat” which contains the addon files.
4) Launch The Elder Scrolls Online. FTC should be automatically enabled. If not, go to the Add-Ons section of the game menu and make sure that the box beside Foundry Tactical Combat is checked.
5) Access the FTC configuration settings by navigating in-game to Settings -> Add-Ons -> FTC, or by simply typing “/ftc” into chat.

Does anyone have problem with healing done by other players do not show up in scrolling text?

My own heals appear there, but healing done by nearby people do not.

Im sure that before last FTC patch, i could see all incoming heals on me.

Hello Atropos. I have been a user of FTC since i started playing ESO and honestly would not know what to do without it!

I use almost all the features of FTC. I have discovered one problem though. I tend to use the default ESO unit frames with FTC's Text overlay but when disabling FTC's Target frame you are unable to see your target's buff's. I know this is a minor thing to loose but if possible with you working on buffs at the moment, if you can find a way to let people who use the default frames see target buffs i will be a happy camper .

(PS: If you at one point are able to add a class icon to default unit frames that would be awesome too!)

Hi Atropos thanks for this update, I've missed the buff tracking and glad you we're working on it. Thanks.

I'm having similar issues as others, with the buff duration not resetting. Additionally I have another issue and some feedback.

Many of my buffs are not displaying the duration timer. It does not happen every time, but often when casting multiple buffs (Green dragon blood, spiked armor, plus defensive stance). Also I would prefer that only the skill's icon displays and not the major/minor buffs. I believe below you addressed that this was not what you intended. I just wanted to mention it here to be sure.

The buff tracking works kinda weirdly for me atm. It will now update from player to player but will only update if I look at a player. For example: If I see Person A and then don't see another person for say 10 minutes, throughout that whole time, the buffs Person A had will be on my screen constantly. The only time it "goes away" is when I eventually see Person B and the buffs changes from what Person A had to what Person B has. Rinse and Repeat down the line.

Hey xALEKS, thanks for the feedback. I can add certain buffs to a filtered list, but in order to consider it you'll need to sell me on the idea. Could you describe a bit your gameplay when you experience this. There are many abilities which can grant Minor Savagery, and I don't necessarily want to filter all of them. What abilities are you using, what triggers your Minor Savagery buff. Why don't you care about it? Etc.. etc..
sorry for my bad ingrish
i play only pvp as a sorc so it seems minor savagery gives me by random allies near me. i just like when i can see only buffs that i use by myself such as shields, surge, shard proc etc. but now (thx zos) we have "buffs" that more appropriate word is "passive buff" - minor savagery(3% melee crit for 20sec), minor prophecy(3% spell crit for 20sec) (grants by any dark magic skill) and some others(but these 2 mainly) that gives me 0 useful info because its "buffs" on me entire fight and i dont even control them casts because they add almost automatically and they do not affect on my skill rotation. may be you should make category "minor buffs" which will be include all minor buffs and allow us to turn this tracker off. or at least filter these two.
I can explain a little bit messy but I hope you understand the basic idea
best regards

Hi all, thank you for the feedback. Some responses:

I'm directly reporting what is reported to me by the API. If you are enlightened, the API does report a 4x multiplier. I haven't seen any crazy XP numbers personally, but I'll keep an eye out.

However, there might be a bug with spells that have a refreshing duration under certain circumstances. For example, if a templar uses the "Channeled Focus" ground rune and stands inside it, the duration of the effects Major Resolve and Major Ward remain at 08s on the character sheet. On the FTC buff window, they instead display a counting down timer and refresh only once the current buff has expired from the FTC window. Also, FTC only displays the Major Resolve buff and not the Major Ward buff, when the character sheet displays both.

edit: When casting Purifying Ritual (another templar ground spell), it will be listed in the long duration buffs for a few seconds, then disappear. It will flash back in and out every few seconds, but will never stay in the long duration buffs for as long as it should. However, it is reported in the character sheet for as long as it is active without disappearing.
I think I understand what you are saying OSean, and I actually think this is related to a different bug. Once I fix that other bug this should start working correctly.

Aah, right. I had Siphoning Attacks flagged as a "Toggle" so it would override it with a "T" in your long run buffs. I'll remove it from that exception list so it should have a duration.

I know the problem with buff duration refreshing, I'll definitely be fixing that. As for extended ritual, I'll have to look into it, I'm not sure.

This same error is now on every player buff. Dark Cloak, Rapids, Double Taken, etc the timer never reset if you reuse an ability while time is left on the same ability. The only one that seems to refresh correctly is Grim Focus.
Thanks for the report, sorry I let that bug slip into the release version. I had been changing some of the detection rules and accidentally introduced this bug shortly before releasing the addon. My fault!

If anyone is curious, the reason this bug exists is that I needed to develop some logic to systematically filter out duplicate reported buffs. For example, if a Sorcerer casts Boundless Storm, the API reports:
  • Boundless Storm - 15s
  • Major Ward - 15s
  • Major Resolve - 15s
  • Major Expedition - 4s

To avoid the visualization of buffs being too spammy, what I would ideally like to report is only the buffs which have unique origins (abilities) and durations. So in the Boundless Storm case I want to report Boundless Storm (15s) and Major Expedition (4s) but NOT Major Ward or Major Resolve.

I added some checks, and the logic for whether or not a reported buff is processed is the following:
Report a buff only if it has a unique originating ability, duration, and buff type. If an identically typed buff comes from the same originating ability and has the same duration, filter it out and don't display it.
I thought this was working great, BUT I forgot that of course I need to also condition on the starting/ending times being the same. In retrospect it was a dumb mistake, but the logic sounded good when I wrote it, and I didn't notice that it was preventing buff timers from refreshing when I was testing. Whoops!

Proc notification

The Crystal Frag. proc notification does not seem to work correctly. I can faintly hear a noise notification when it goes off, but there is NO text or action bar notification for me when using FTC.

Thanks Baertram. I'd read over that, but I don't think it refers to ground aoes that apply buffs, since these buffs seem to be given by the API as they already appear in the character sheet. I'm specifically referring to the templar ground aoes that provide buffs for those who stand within them and report the buffs to the character sheet, not ground aoes that do damage such as the DK ash cloud.
