MrPlow - Inventory Sorter  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)
Version: 2.6b
by: Wobin, CrazyDutchGuy, Jennifur_Vultee
"That name again, is Mr Plow"

Mr Plow is a sorting addon that will reorder the items in your inventories to a more organised state.

The order of results is borrowed heavily from ingeniousclown's Advanced Filters.

I've co-opted the 'age' sort functionality of the leftmost arrows in the default inventory, and added them to the bank and guild bank.

And, just like the WoW version, the order is hard coded atm, but fairly straightforward to adjust in the code. Making a settings panel that will allow adjustment is my next step.

sorting in craft menus?

Hi! Fantastic add-on! Simple and useful!

Any chance you could update it to also work in the crafting (deconstruct) menus. It would be awesome to see how many items you have of the same type at a glance.

Best and Thanks!

Nice addon, might try it when I get home.

For a future request, I would suggest a sorting option by 'rarity descending, alphabeth'.

It's not really a specific column sort, like name or price though =\

Left of Name are the 'Age' sort arrows I've co-opted to use as the MrPlow sort

Well, we can only sort with the information we can extract. Currently the GetItemLevel() the API offers, does not return the actual 'required level' you see in the tooltip, but, it seems, some recalculated level based on the stats (this is only a guess, mind you). So I can't actually offer that as a Level order option, because it's not what people are going to expect.
So, basically, the items iLvl instead of required level.
Which would still be good since sorted by "what I want to wear because it is not red (above level) and in theory the best for me" is the sort I would like. So iLvl is close enough and a disclaimer in the settings that it does best effort to sort this way.

Advanced filters already sorts by type and works very nicely but I can see the appeal for this sort method as well. A simple toggle in the settings to support various sort types would be awesome for the various wants.

I had a try, but unfortunately, the sort keys aren't exposed in the crafting interface to the same level as the inventory/guild one, so we can't inject our own sorting into it =(

Hey Wobin,
I noticed how enchanting runes (and probably other crafting sub-types) are still all scrambled, so I came up with this bit of code This should probably be extended to make use of extra2 and extra3 but for me this is currently fine.

Code:
LibSort:Register("Item Sort", "Crafting Type", "The crafting type of an item", "crafitnType", function(...) return MrPlow:CraftingType(...) end)
-- <snip>
LibSort:RegisterDefaultOrder("Item Sort", {"Item Type", "Weapon Type", "Armour Equip Type", "Armour Type", "Crafting Type"}, {"Subjective Level"})
-- <snip>
function MrPlow:CraftingType(slotType, bag, index)
	if watchedSlots[slotType] then
		local craftinType, itemType, extra1, extra2, extra3 = GetItemCraftingInfo(bag, index)
		return extra1 or 0
	end
end
Also, is it possible to also use smart sorting on crafting item lists? For example, when I'm crating runes, all of the tabs remain totally unsorted.
