I'll add a quick fix, should prevent it from happening again. 0.96a is up, let me know if it happens again, and if so, what your mouse was hovering over at the time (I need to know the item for future reference or a more permanent fix). Also, forgot to mention: That issue is specifically with the "Show ItemId [etc] on Tooltips" option. You can disable that option rather than the whole addon.

I'll keep Item names next time if it happens again though I remember one currently, "Nirnroot". Name is enough or you need ItemID directly? |

And thanks, "Nirnroot" was all I needed to figure out what was going on (above ). |

Error Message
Lately I've been getting this a lot:
click for larger image: http://i.imgur.com/ENCMNM6.jpg It continues to pop up repeatedly upon dismissal. Only way to stop it is to disable the addon and reload UI. It happens about once every few hours. Not really sure what its triggering it. It has popped up while trying to repair an armor item with repair kit, while browsing the guild store, while using a food item. Seems to have no real pattern.

After this morning's maintenance, I lost all of the data that has been collected by DataDaedra -- or rather, it's all in the SavedVariables .lua, but the sales history does not seem to be recognized by the addon anymore. Is there any way I can salvage the data?

Re: Re: Error Message
Not sure which version you're using (quick series of patches tends to get overlooked by Minion), but I could have sworn I've nailed both of those issues in 0.97. The stables bug occurred because, for some reason, the stables are treated like a store window, but of course do not provide item links to the...erm...merchandise. 0.97 has a few checks for this kind of horseplay, and I haven't seen it since (and, oh yes, I've been looking). As for the larger issue noted by BelleFolie, it's all related to the same kinds of tooltip checks that have been bothering the horses. I've added tooltip checks for pretty much every kind of window I can think of, including crafting stations (with the exception of pattern creation--crafting an item--and that will be implemented soon!), and moved all the tooltip additions inside of redundant checks. Please let me know if this issue continues, and if you could include the version you've got installed (or what you're mousing over, if it's something new we haven't seen before), that would help tremendously. (screenshots are very useful, thank you!).
Here's what I've been doing: The SavedVars file should look like this somewhere in the DataCairn table--just search for "sigil" if you can't find it: lua Code:
All you need to do is copy, starting with the line "[1406173184] =" (line 3 in the highlight), each one of those entries from the old .lua and paste them either above or below one of the entries in the new .lua. For example, at line 12 (in the code above). Don't worry about duplicates, DD eats them for breakfast (and the table keys, like [1406173184], are timestamps marking the time of the sale. That makes them rather distinct, easy to add/paste in, and still quite sortable). Don't worry, you don't need to select each entry individually. Highlight them all, make sure you don't get an extra } or { or anything, and just drop them all in the new file. DD will sort out the duplicates and make it all pretty. Hopefully. If not, data import/export will be out in v1.0, and I intend to make it easy to grab old sales data from SavedVars files. OH! And make sure you're not logged into any characters when you modify the new .lua--otherwise it'll just get overwritten.

Hey,
i just tried 0.97 and got a small glitch with the menu settings. When i try to change them, they keep jumping back to the default values. Looks like a visual bug because the changes are correctly written to the data file however. |

Argh, not this version too! (just lost a day and a half to this issue). Good news is you can open up DataDaedra.lua in your SavedVariables folder, search for "Settings," and change the values manually. Bad news is that my local globals aren't working, and I have no friggin' idea why. I just reinstalled 0.97 to start from the last point I remember it working properly. And I'm not above blaming ZO either--this only started after Thursday's patch. Really. 0.97a will be up as soon as I get a hotfix hammered out. If any developers are having similar issues with "local" globals defined at the top of the file, I could probably use a hand with this one, as I'm stumped. Big issue is that basically, the following declaration acts as if it's not there (I know, easy fix, but I want to know the reason): lua Code:
First thing anyone will see looking at my code is that I have a ton of these declared right at the top for brevity and readability throughout the file. I've learned the hard way that I can't, for example, assign a value to "TooltipBuffer" and have it automatically copied to the key/value in the Settings table, but up until 36 hours ago it could at least READ the damn value assigned to the local global "TooltipBuffer". Now it only works if I use that whole long damn reference.

Oh, now here comes the FUN part...
I regularly debug with the SavedVars open, and I just discovered it actually DOES write the values to the SavedVars like it's supposed to. You just won't see it in the SavedVars file until after you reloadUI or log out. Strange as it sounds, THAT bit of code is working properly because I write the selected value (from LAM2) directly to the Settings table; looks like this: lua Code:
I've hashed this out in code in other places in DataDaedra.lua, outside of LibAddonMenu-2.0's tables, and what's happening is pretty straightforward (even if the reason isn't): Unless I reference "TooltipBuffer" using that long ugly nameplace in setFunc, ESO just thinks "TooltipBuffer == nil" in getFunc, but LibAddonMenu-2.0 will still WRITE what you select to the Settings table currently in memory (because I use that long ugly nameplace in setFunc = ). And what's so aggravating is that it was all working just dandy Wednesday night when I uploaded this update.

Oblivion take me, I just figured it out. I've got to jet for the day, but it's got to be that, once a function or a table (like LibAddonMenu's options table) is declared local, it can't access local variables that are not contained within that function or table or whatever. I knew that declaring them again inside a function effectively over-writes whatever value is outside the function, but I had no clue that making tables/functions local means they can't access other locals outside themselves.
Please tell me I just figured it out. |
