Inventory Grid View  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)
Version: 2.0.9.4
by: Randactyl, ingeniousclown, Sharlikran
Replace your default inventory's list view with a more compact grid view! The default list view shows 11-12 items at a time (in my case), so it can become a pain to navigate your inventory.

Grid view sacrifices detailed information for more pictures. Sometimes you want the detailed information, so I've included a keybind that will toggle the grid on and off.

Features:
  • Grid view for your main inventory, your bank, your guild bank, your craft bag, NPC's stores, AND the buyback screen!
  • Toggle grid view on and off! Useful for when you need to scan with more information.
  • Customizable grid size.
  • Four default skins to choose from, with more available for download.
  • Authors can submit their own skins for download. (See Inventory Grid View Skin Template for details.)
  • Offsets item tooltips so they do not cover up the grid (can be turned off).
  • Set scale of item icon animation.
  • Works with Advanced Filters and other inventory addons such as Item Saver and AlphaGear!

Special thanks to:
  • Rushmik, Tonyleila - included extra skin choices

v1.1.3b
-Updated to LibAddonMenu-2.0r6 - this will put the dropdown menus back in the correct order.

v1.1.3

-Updating LibAddonMenu-2.0 broke part of the functionality of the "example" in the settings. The basic part of it still works, and that's all that's really necessary.
-Added "Circles: by Tonyleila"

-Hopefully fixed an issue with Research Assistant's icons sometimes being shifted to the right.
-Updated to the most recent revision of LAM.

-Attempted to fix a problem where some users would see the sell value control in Grid View.

v1.0.2
-Tooltips will now add a line with the value of the stack.
-Added a "minimum quality" option for the outlines.

v1.0.1
-Fixed the bug that ruined list view when changing grid view settings for inventories that have it disabled.
-Moved the toggle button back to its home in the bottom of the window.

v1.0.0
-Settings window added under SETTINGS menu!
-Added a real icon to toggle grid view and moved it to the upper left-hand corner of the inventory window.
-Added a custom mouse-over background for the grid view that is colored by the rarity of the item. This is still colored when the outline is turned off.
-Removed the slash commands. Now you can use the SETTINGS menu.
-Added a slider to customize the size of the icons in the grid.
-Fixed a bug where the grid wasn't properly calculating the spacing between grid icons. The grid should now fill the window.

v0.4.3
-Fixed a typo that made the guild bank not work.

v0.4.2
-Fixed an issue where I was indexing the bags with the wrong global constant. As a result, the guild bank should now be grid view-able and the scrolling should now work correctly in the bank.

v0.4.1
-Fixed the scroll bar size

v0.4
-Fixed another issue with slots not reverting to list view
-Added compatibility for my new mod, Research Assistant

v0.3
-Integrated the grid view to the player bank and guild bank.
-Fixed issue where some slots wouldn't convert back to list view
-Cleaned up the code just a little bit :)

v0.21
-Updated API version so it won't say "out of date" anymore

v0.2
-Added rarity outline colors to the grid view (I hope)
-Added slash command "/inventorygridview outlines" to toggle outlines
-Added saved vars to keep track of your grid view and outline settings
-Removed the changelog from the zip because it was being read as another add-on (lol)

v0.12
-Fixed filter swapping.

v0.11
-Added a parent folder to the zip

v0.1
-Initial release

RockingDice's Auto Category

It's integrated with Inventory Grid View and fixed the icon issue.

It also provides a feature to categorize items automatically.

Also for you who just want a fix around and do it yourself:

Add these lines in util.lua:

Code:
--disable status' mouse callback
new:SetMouseEnabled(false)
new:GetNamedChild("Texture"):SetMouseEnabled(false)
after (line 73):
Code:
if new then new:ClearAnchors() end
I commented on the pull request. Thanks again for putting in some work on that!

I would ask though that you dont post copies of this addon. The userbase can get fragmented and then if you didn't change anything in the file structure people might come here posting issues rather than in the appropriate place. Also, if you didnt change the file structure Minion starts tripping over itself when trying to update things
Hey welcome, you're back!

I did change some codes in your add-on, but not too much, in order to work with my add-on. I hooked some global functions, like copy them into my add-on. I'll remove them if you want to adapt into your code. It's no harm and can work without my add-on.

I'll provide a clean pull request without fixing the issues later today or tomorrow.

This seems to have additionally moved the spot for the small icon nearer to the center of the item slot when not mouseover. So the dead spot gets more noticable.

I would suggest changing the fix to this (My personal preference):
Replace InventoryGridView/util.lua, Line 80
Code:
new:SetAnchor(TOPLEFT, button:GetNamedChild("Icon"), TOPLEFT, 0, 0)
with
Code:
new:SetDimensions(20,20)
new:SetAnchor(TOPLEFT, control, TOPLEFT, 5, 5)
Changes the icon from

to

The best solution would be imho to make this smal icons offset and size configurable via the addons settings page. So everyone could set their own preference.
Yep, that's pretty much the size of it (heh).

The new, stolen, and locked icons share the same texture control (status). I think a more fundamental issue is that it seems the sizing of the new and stolen icons is off - the texture dimensions are 32x32 but the actual image in the texture is smaller than that. The lock icon correctly fills the entire space.

Adding options would be nice, but I don't think the majority of people would not use them. All of my experience suggests that most install an addon, configure it once (if at all), and forget about it until a game update makes the addon produce an error.

I'll play around with what you suggested, but my gut is telling me there is a "better" solution and that it will take a little bit.

edit: control is what it was anchored to before. Anchoring to the button icon makes the status control slide out as the icon zooms, like the stack count and Item Saver textures. Messing with the offset changes the location of the dead square and causes it to cut into the corners of nearby buttons. There may be some combination that works. We'll see.
I think keep a respect ratio is good. like 0.2 or 0.15. Just provide a ratio slider will meet almost everyone's need.
Also, hovering the lock icon will prompt a tooltip which is not likely to select current item, have to deal with it. Maybe use a custom control is an option.

Hello,

with the latest update of the addon I have a problem hovering the items to show the tooltips.
I have to point the mouse on the right half of the icon otherwise there is no zoom or tooltip.
When hovering the mouse over the left border everything starts to flicker.

This seems to have additionally moved the spot for the small icon nearer to the center of the item slot when not mouseover. So the dead spot gets more noticable.

I would suggest changing the fix to this (My personal preference):
Replace InventoryGridView/util.lua, Line 80
Code:
new:SetAnchor(TOPLEFT, button:GetNamedChild("Icon"), TOPLEFT, 0, 0)
with
Code:
new:SetDimensions(20,20)
new:SetAnchor(TOPLEFT, control, TOPLEFT, 5, 5)
Changes the icon from

We'll see.
