maybe stupid question.
how it works? i have one folder C:\Users\xxxxxx\AppData\Local\Xilent\ESOSafe.exe_Url_xxxxxxxxxxxxx (changed name)\1.3.5370.17895 with one file named user.config i dont have wmerchant installed. i dont have any folder names backup. i am not the only one who has problems. on eu server many other players ask about help. questions: - what for a user name i must insert? - how and what he backup? - only one file named user.config (that cant be all) more better documentation would be nice.

If I got it right, you have installed the application and started it, i.e. is it running in the systray? And if so, could take a screenshot of the settings windows (right click on the Bank Vault icon in systray and choose "Backup settings"). The application will do it's best to figure how to locate your game client as well as your documents folder. Any information on how your current setup is would be helpful for me in the troubleshooting. |

Troubleshoot mode
Since v1.4 there is an included "troubleshoot mode" which gives a lot of details about your current setup that should be helpful troubleshooting ESO Safe and w33zl's Merchant.
For details how to use this troubleshooter, refer to the Troubleshooter.md document in the zip archive.

Is it not possible for you to create this in a way that doesn't require installing executables?
Also, I am getting the error message "Failed to properly parse input data for Merchant." Any idea how I can go about fixing that?

First of all, do you have the latest versions of ESO Safe and w33zl's Merchant installed? If so, could you please check if you have any files in the /data subfolder of w33zl's Merchant. This where earlier version of ESO Safe stored the data files. The you check your SavedVariables folder and look for a wMerchantDB.lua file. If the latter exists in SavedVariables you can delete all files in the /data subfolder. Should you have a wMerchantDB.lua in your /data subfolder and no such file in SavedVariables you should move wMerchantDB.lua from /data to the SavedVariables folder. It would be useful for me to know how the first row of your wMerchandDB.lua looks like, or even better if you could send me the entire file (or files if you have in both /data and SavedVariables). The first line in wMerchandDB.lua should look something like this: Code:
wMerchantXXXX = {
Warning: Spoiler
Code:
["SCHEMA"] = { ["VERSION"] = "2", ["ITEM_FIELDS"] = { ["ItemID"] = 1, ["Name"] = 2, ["Level"] = 3, ["Quality"] = 4, ["Style"] = 5, ["EnchantmentID"] = 6, }, ["PRICE_FIELDS"] = { ["Weighted"] = 1, ["AvgOverTime"] = 2, ["High"] = 3, ["Low"] = 4, ["Seen"] = 5, ["History"] = 6, }, ["PLAYERSALES_FIELDS"] = { ["Buyer"] = 1, ["GuildName"] = 2, ["ItemID"] = 3, ["Price"] = 4, ["StackSize"] = 5, ["TimeStamp"] = 6, }, }, Finally it would be helpful if you could check out the troubleshooting section on ESO Safe page and the "troubleshooter mode" in the application and provide me with as much details about your setup as possible.

Regarding safety, you should already have antivirus working on your computer and maybe one active AV program and a couple of others that you can call on to scan files or folders. ESOsafe is very tiny. It only uses 108Kb of space on your hard drive. In task manager the RAM Private Set is 24Mb, so it's a fairly small program. Since it's a separate process this doesn't count against eso.exe's RAM usage and you won't have to edit the user file to increase the amount of RAM for addon's. That's quite a bonus for any addon that has to deal with a potentially large file like you would expect to happen when dealing with market data. |

The only thing in my Data folder is wMerchantDBSample.lua which was there when I downloaded Merchant. When I tried deleting it, the addon simply stopped funcioning entirely in the game. When I tried moving it to the savedvariables folder, the addon stopped working. There is no wMerchantDB.lua in my savedvariables folder. The only DB file I can locate is the SampleDb that was in the data folder by default. I did try renaming the sample db file to wMerchantDB.lua and moving it to my savedvariables folder. That caused the addon to start back working, but ESOSafe still gave the same error message. I have sent you a private message with the information generated by the troubleshooter.

If you locate the folder where you have ESO Safe installed you should find a file called NLog.config. If you open the file in Notepad you should be able to find a row with this content: Code:
<logger name="*" minlevel="Info" writeTo="logfile" /> Code:
<logger name="*" minlevel="Debug" writeTo="logfile" /> |

I found some additional errors in my Windows EventViewer.

I'm following the troubleshooting as I get the same error on startup "unable to parse".
I see no DB file in my SavedVariables. I use Shopkeeper. I'm going to try to send you that file. This is the error I see in the log Code:
2014-09-29 05:52:56.4918|ERROR|ESOSafe.Program.savedVarsWatcher_OnBackup|An unexpected error occured while processing data for w33zl's Merchantinner System.NullReferenceException: Could not find 'scanHistory' table in Shopkeeper LUA file at TamrielTrader.Importers.Shopkeeper.ProcessFile(String fileName, SortedDictionary`2 transactionList) at TamrielTrader.DataParser.processData() at ESOSafe.Program.savedVarsWatcher_OnBackup(Object sender, BackupEventArgs e) Watcher.BackupFilesOnStartup => Watcher.backupFile => Program.savedVarsWatcher_OnBackup

It was the case of the username. Fixed the "user.config" file.
I suggest updating Addon Info page like this
