Journal Quest Log  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)
Version: 1.1.2
by: Enodoc [More]
Have you ever wanted to know what quests you've completed, and which ones you have yet to complete? Well now you can!

Features
  • Alphabetical list of Completed quests by Category
  • Alphabetical list of Not Completed quests by Category (beta feature)
    • Quests that are greyed out require a DLC that you do not own
  • Repeatable Quests are shown in blue
  • Missed Quests are shown in red
  • Extended Categories for Quest Log and Active Quests:
    • Alliance War quests split from Cyrodiil quests
    • Dungeon and Trials quests split from Zone quests
Navigate to the new Quest Log tab in the Journal. All quests are listed, sorted by category/zone, including any quests completed before the add-on was installed.

Library Dependency
You must download this library for the add-on to work!
In Development
  • Mouse-over pop-ups for extended information about a particular quest. Comments please if there's anything you'd like to see here!

Known Issues
  • Unknown Quest: The game is registering a quest you have completed, but there is no data for this quest available. A quest with zo_questId 1230 is a common Unknown Quest which appears on older characters.
  • Some quests may show up under the wrong zone header. This is most likely a bug with the game data for that quest, rather than the add-on.

Important Note
  • The list of Not Completed quests requires the LibUespQuestData library, since the API does not provide this information directly. Please also download uespLog to help keep the database up-to-date. Due to the number of quests, this feature is not fully tested - please leave any suggestions or issues in the Comments tab.

Many thanks to eventHandler for Version 0.1.0, whose code was instrumental in getting me over the issue I was having with category filters!

Please leave any feedback in the comments, and let me know of any more features you'd like to see.

Localization
Japanese localization by Calamath

Version 1.1 developed by:
@Enodoc, Savant of the United Explorers of Scholarly Pursuits (UESP)

  • Updated API version to 100030 (Harrowstorm)

Version 1.1.1
  • Repeatable Quests now show in blue

    • Known Issue: The drop-down doesn't show properly when reopening to a Not Completed category.

Version 1.1.0

    • This requires the new LibUespQuestData library as a Dependency
    • Due to the number of quests, this is not fully tested - let me know of any issues
  • Updated API version to 100029 (Dragonhold)

Version 1.0.4

  • Updated API version to 100026/100027 (Wrathstone/Elsweyr)

Version 1.0.2
  • Updated API version to 100024 (Wolfhunter)

Version 1.0.0
  • Category list added
    • Completed quests are now filtered by zone/category
    • Many thanks to eventHandler for the code that made this possible!
  • Updated API version to 100023 (Summerset)

Version 0.1.0 [eventHandler]
Available in Optional Files
  • rewrote code for sorting and displaying quest entries to be more generic
  • now quests are by zone/category, split into sections
  • rudimentary support for different colors in-code

Version 0.0.3
  • Updated API version to 100022

Version 0.0.2
  • Quest list now unloads from memory when not visible.
  • Please let me know if this results in noticeable lag when opening the Quest Log window if you've completed a lot of quests (say, over 1000).

Version 0.0.1
  • Initial release.

On occasion a quest may not be offered if another quest has already been done, which is often the case with breadcrumb-type quests. Other times, there may be 2 or more quests that are mutually exclusive, based on player choices made during the quests. An example is the Auridon quest All the Fuss. It is offered only if Ensuring Security is not completed. It is also mutually exclusive with Missive to the Queen. And then further, Missive to the Queen also isn't offered if Ensuring Security is completed. For this one zone, I have 4 quests showing now under Not Completed, that I'm unable to complete.

It can be confusing if all quests that are Not Completed are listed together and in the same color without any distinctions or notations, if some can still be completed while others cannot. I'm not sure what kind of solution could be arranged, but I wanted to mention it to you.

Thanks for a great addon.
Thanks for the feedback! In theory, none of the ones that are showing in red can still be completed; only those that show in white can be completed now. This includes both those situations where pointer quests have been missed, and situations when a mutually-exclusive option has already been taken. But that was all coded manually so I may have overlooked something.

In your example, All the Fuss goes red if you have already completed Ensuring Security or Missive to the Queen, and Missive to the Queen goes red if you have already completed Ensuring Security or All the Fuss, which would be correct. I will see if I can look into how to do pop-ups though, as then I would be able to add more information. Things like "This quest is unavailable because you have already completed X".

I have three questions:

I'm playing on German. Completed quests are in German, but not completed are in English. Is there a way to change that?

Also: How can i highlight different quest types besides dailies, f. e. battlefield or dungeon quests?

And last but not least: Is there a way to hide (dropdown or something) completed quests, so that i can primally focus on not completed quests?

Thanks for reading!
Not Completed in English - someone would have to upload a localization file for the quest names, as the UESP database is itself in English. The basework for this is ready (thanks to Calamath) but not yet implemented.

Battleground quests should have their own category already; Dungeon quests can be split into their own category but I need to enable that setting.

I could potentially add a setting to completely disable the list of Completed Quests, but they're in separate groups already and it's supposed to reopen at the tab you were last looking at, so if you were looking at Not Completed Glenumbra it will reopen at Not Completed Glenumbra (even though the list itself for some reason doesn't show which tab is active - if anyone knows how to fix that, let me know!).

it isn't, infact it's a year outdated and doesn't work for multiple regions in the game. The Addon Author also went silent as of 4 months ago. So it's uncertain whether it'll ever get updated.

Yep, just a list!
Any plans to add map markers for uncompleted quests?

Anyways, my biggest problem with questing is that I like to do content on multiple characters but would prefer not to repeat quests (especially side quests). Once I have done it on one character, I would like to avoid it on all others, but it's hard to remember which ones I have done already. Would it be possible to add one or more of these features to your addon?
  • Add an option we can turn on or off to change the color of non-repeatable quests (from white to red or something) for quests ANY of our other characters have already completed?
  • Add a drop down list that includes our other characters so we can see their quest journals as well?
  • (This one may be for different addon all together): Add some kind of indicator with the quest NPC's themselves, letting us know if we have already completed their quest on another character... such as changing the quest text of our "responses" to the color red. Our responses are the only thing I see as quest text because I use AkOsNoWrittenDialogue.

I realize this is a lot to ask, but I thought I would put it out there. For quite some time I've wanted an addon that allows me to avoid quests I have already done on other characters and no matter how much I look for it, no one seems to be making anything that will do this.

Thanks for reading!
That's not something that I'd thought about. I imagine that for this, there would need to be a saved variables file that we could write all completed quests from one character into which would then be read when on another character. Can't promise anything but I'll add it to the list of suggestions.

(If anyone else wants to make this as a patch in the meantime, go ahead!)

Not really, as the game doesn't directly provide that information, meaning it would need to be hard-coded right into the add-on. My next aim is coding in the missable quests; once that's ready, I'll see what else can be done.

This is a game-changer! So nice to be able to see what's done and what's still pending!!

Thanks so much! Linda

Yee, thanks.
I'll probably never find out because I usually miss the tie-together quests which then never can be completed, and I don't do DLC dungeons so those just get stuck in there for me.
