Other addons may offer additional features. Specifically SkyShards has other features than pins. Yes, it's redundant but you can usually turn off the pins in either of them, if you want to and still use the other functions. Some addons may come with lots of (possibly unrelated) features so it's not so surprising there are overlapping functions.

This is silly.

This really isn't any different then when people ask me for help with MO2 for SSEEdit or FO4Edit. I don't use MO2 so how will I know what to troubleshoot. Likewise what if the author of Map Pins uses Windows.

I don't use Unix and I would suspect you have been searching but this is the first link that came up. You may just be out of luck for most things. 99% of people will probably use windows. I hope you find someone that uses Unix but you may want to try other places where you find Unix users and see what they say.
Thank you for the reply. Based on some of the comments below I can see why you included the link (and obviously frustrated explanation), but textures and specs arenít my issue. I get that most people are running Windows and many developers here donít have a lot of computer knowledge outside of their own rig. This issue is specific to this addon. I run about 10 others fine and have other map addons that are working. Probably shouldnít have mentioned Linux but I didnít want someone to tell me to click through Windows prompts or go into Minion to solve my problem- the difference between Linux and Windows is that Windows does everything for you while Linux requires you to do it yourself (essentially). It can run 99% of the same content if you know what youíre doing.

I asked the wrong question so Iíll try again. This addon has known pathway issues for users manually uploading addon files instead of running Minion to do it for them (on any platform). I saw more than one pathway when I tried to troubleshoot this via Google. Developer- can you update the page to include the correct pathway link so that those of us experiencing this issue can create a pathway file that aligns with what youíve developed in Windows? Or, can someone who is currently running a successful version of this addon reply with the pathway link from their computer? It needs to be a complete pathway link because Iím running Linux, which may require me to manually create the pathway.

Nope, the top of the error is not for Map Pins, they are not reading the error correctly.
Lua Code:
  1. EsoUI/Ingame/Map/MapPin.lua:1669: attempt to index a nil value
  2. stack traceback:
  3. EsoUI/Ingame/Map/MapPin.lua:1669: in function 'ZO_MapPin:Initialize'
See the first part of that line? I will colorize it, EsoUI and the entire thing says EsoUI/Ingame/Map/MapPin.lua

Is does not say "AddOns/MapPins/MapPins.lua" at all.

I do sympathize with people that are having errors. However, just posting everywhere you can isn't going to get the mod causing the issue fixed. Someone even posted this in LibMapPins and the library doesn't access pins in the manner the error is stating.

Would be super awesome if that error window didn't obstruct half the screen and would bugger off after I click "dismiss" might be something to look at.
