Quest Map  Updated less than 3 days ago!  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)
Version: 2.4
by: CaptainBlagbird, Sharlikran
Description
Adds pins for completed and uncompleted quests to the world map. (Including not yet started quests!)
Major change: Quest Map no longer has internal quest information and instead uses LibQuestInfo.

Please do not submit `QuestMapScout.lua` files as the information is not formatted for what I am now collecting for quest data.

Use Minion download LibQuestInfo. It will be doing all the data collection from now on. Please submit new data from LibQuestInfo to LibQuestInfo:Github/1.

Requirements
To be able to use this add-on you'll need to install these libraries too:
  • LibMapPins
  • LibGPS - LibGPS
NOTE LibGPS Requires: LibMapPing, LibDebugLogger, LibChatMessage so be sure to read the authors description page.
  • LibQuestInfo
These add-ons are optional:
Features
  • Uses new functions introduced in API update 6 to automatically get a list of completed quests, that means you can start using this add-on at any time/level and it will "know" which quests you have completed before.
  • Tooltip shows the quest name and additional info (Cadwell's Almanac quest, skill point reward)
  • Manually (un)hide ((un)mark as completed) quest pins by clicking on it
  • Map pin filters for completed, uncompleted, started and manually hidden quests (you can find them to the right of the map after clicking on the funnel icon)
  • Subfilters to only display Cadwell's Almanac quests and/or quests that reward skill points
  • Different map pin filter settings for PvP and PvE possible (e.g. quests not displayed in Cyrodiil but still in other zones)
  • Changable pin size and pin level
  • Languages supported: English / German / French

Commands (enter in chat input)
  • Open settings menu
    /questmap
  • Manually (un)hide all quest of the currently displayed map (zone/subzone/dungeon/etc.):
    /qm hide
    /qm unhide
  • Display list of quests for the current map:
    /qmlist *arg*
*arg* can be 'completed', 'uncompleted', 'hidden', 'started', 'cadwell', 'skill' or empty (for last used argument)
  • Get current map and coordinates (for bug report etc.)
    /qmgetpos

Notes, Please read!
  • Make sure you install the add-on before starting up ESO, else the pin icon files may not be loaded.
  • There are quests that are missable. Yes I know that sucks, but the missable quests are only (I hope) quests that introduce you to a new region (e.g. quest "To Firsthold"), that's why it's possible to have some few unfinished quests with no related quest giver in each zone.
  • For more specific info, also see the FAQ.
  • If you want to help improve this add-on, then check out Quest Map Scout

I'm not sure what you are asking. If you hover over a pin for an uncompleted quest it says the name of the quest. Some might say unknown name until more volunteers provide more information.

I'm not willing to put the name on the map if that is what you are asking.

Since it already displays the name when you hover over the pin you would have to explain what mean more clearly.
Ok, I see what is going on. I play in controller mode and the tooltip isnt working there. It does work in KB/M mode. It appears the type of tooltip this addon uses is different than most others: I can see tooltips for Destinations, skyshards, lorebooks etc. but not Quest Map.

Hello, the errors are still there.
Someone else is having the same issue. I asked them to upload their 'LibQuestInfo.lua". They did so and the file from their SavedVariables folder predates LibQuestInfo version 1.6. I was not able to determine how old it actually was.

Could you please read my post in the LibQuestInfo comments section.

Please note that QuestMap only draws the pins on the map. It no longer contains any Quest Data. To keep up with people having issues with Minion not updating their mods or other current issues please use the LibQuestInfo comments section.

There was an error with the library LibQuestInfo version 1.6. You would need to update to 1.8 to start with. Then make sure you have Quest Map 2.4. Now if you have that then try these steps. Unfortunately you need to do the following three things in windows explorer.

1. Go to C:\Users\[user name]\Documents\Elder Scrolls Online\live\SavedVariables
2. Delete LibQuestInfo.lua if it exists, if not then that's okay. Do the next step.
3. Delete QuestMap.lua. It should be there.

Try that first as what you are reporting simply is impossible, unless you didn't install all the requirements with Minion. The one bad thing about Minion though is it doesn't tell you or help you install other requirements for other libraries. I put a note on the description page with yellow letters to remind users to read other mod authors description page, not just this one.

I say that because Quest Map says it requires LibMapPins, LibGPS, and LibQuestInfo. It is recommended that you install LibAddonMenu to change the settings but this addon should show pins by default as long as you installed all of this mods requirements, and all the requirements of the other mods.

LibGPS requires three things for that to work. And those three things might require other things to work. Most people have most of these mods installed already but for some they don't. Unfortunately Minion just doesn't do it all for you.

I think (but don't quote me on this) you might need all of the following:

Quest Map
LibQuestInfo
LibMapPins
LibGPS
LibMapPing
LibDebugLogger
LibChatMessage

See what I mean by other authors requirements. You only need three tings for this mod. However, other authors have their own requirements. Minion just don't know how to install it all automatically.

After you have all that installed, make sure it's activated for all your characters. Then see if it works.

I didn't know that might be an issue for some people. With all of my versions I needed the settings separate for data collection. That is no longer needed and the most recent version will clean out everything I was using that is no longer needed.

However, I see how that could be an inconvenience. I have made the current version use account wide settings.
thanks!

For the most part the rough draft is nearing completion. If you have LibQuestInfo 1.5 or higher you should see the majority of quests in the zones that needed to be updated. Some may still be missing but can be gathered in phase two which is intended for verification. LibQuestInfo will auto reset itself and start tracking what I need so I will announce that once I am finished with it. It will help a great deal to get the files and get the quests pins verified so that you don't see duplicates and randomly placed pins on the map from previous versions that may not have tracked the quest locations the best way.

When I asked CaptainBlagbird to allow me to make an update I wanted him to know I wasn't trying to take over his mod. He did the original work himself and it couldn't have been easy. I wanted to make it become as useful as I possibly could.

I was really concerned as to why there were so many pins when you had mods like Quest Map and Destinations installed at the same time. I have both installed because Quest Map only shows quest locations and duplicating what Destinations does, at least with other things doesn't make much sense.

What I was faced with were maps like this. However, this is with version 1.9.7 installed.

What I had hoped to see is something more like Murkmire is at the moment. This is with Quest Map 2.2 and the latest version of LibQuestInfo 1.4.

In order to accomplish what I needed I had come up with some steps to get there. Phases if you will that would allow me to get information from other people. Because realistically mods that have quest data have to come up with a way for volunteers to provide and collect data and share that with the author. Even Lorebooks had to do that in the past.

I am not sure if I am really done with phase one yet. The intent of phase one was to get a rough draft of the zone that had no pins because there has not been time for CaptainBlagbird to work on the mod and I don't know how many user submissions there have been.

Indecently for everyone reading this, please only provide LibQuestInfo files at this time as I need the extra information.

Phase two will be to refine the data even further to ensure that the pins are where the quest giver is located. I really can't sit down and create a new character and then spend a month or two doing all the quests to verify all the pins. That would be really hard for one person to do.

The volunteers are just as hard at work helping me collect data as I am at working on adding that data to LibQuestInfo and updating Quest Map to use the new independent Quest library.

I hope you enjoy the changes in future versions.
