Journal Quest Log  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)
Version: 1.3.0
by: Enodoc [More]
Have you ever wanted to know what quests you've completed, and which ones you have yet to complete? Well now you can!

Features
  • List of all quests by Zone/Category
  • List quests alphabetically or by Status
  • Quests that are greyed out require a DLC that you do not own
  • Quests that are possible to miss are shown in yellow
  • Repeatable Quests are shown in blue
  • Missed Quests are shown in red
Navigate to the new Quest Log tab in the Journal. All quests are listed, sorted by category/zone, including any quests completed before the add-on was installed.

Library Dependency
You must download this library for the add-on to work!
In Development
  • Mouse-over pop-ups for extended information about a particular quest. Comments please if there's anything you'd like to see here!

Known Issues
  • Unknown Quest: The game is registering a quest you have completed, but there is no data for this quest available. A quest with zo_questId 1230 is a common Unknown Quest which appears on older characters.
  • Some quests may show up under the wrong zone header. This is most likely a bug with the game data for that quest, rather than the add-on.
  • Some quests are showing as Group Quests when they are not. It is currently unclear whether this is an issue with the data logger or with the quest data itself.
  • Extended categories for Active Quests currently disabled.

Important Note
  • The list of Not Completed quests requires the LibUespQuestData library, since the API does not provide this information directly. Please also download uespLog to help keep the database up-to-date. Due to the number of quests, this feature is not fully tested - please leave any suggestions or issues in the Comments tab.

Many thanks to eventHandler for Version 0.1.0, whose code was instrumental in getting me over the issue I was having with category filters!

Please leave any feedback in the comments, and let me know of any more features you'd like to see.

Localization
Japanese localization prior to Version 1.3 by Calamath

Version 1.3 developed by:

  • Missable Quests are now shown in Yellow (thanks to a_bishop for the suggestion!)
  • All missed quests are now removed from any counter of "all quests"
  • Zones where you have completed all available quests are now Checkmarked
  • Removed the icon beside Incomplete Quests so the other icons are easier to identify
  • Added a Key to the Settings menu (see screenshots)
  • Removed a significant number of duplicate quest names from the Incomplete list
  • Updated API version to 100035 (Blackwood)

Version 1.2.5

  • Updated API version to 100033 (Markarth)

Version 1.2.3
  • Added Tutorial quests and Guild Invitation quests to the Missable list
  • Quest Log now refreshes only when you open it after Quest Completion, not on every Quest Completion
  • Filtered out a bunch of old Craglorn quests and the old Homestead quest which are no longer available
  • Updated API version to 100032 (Stonethorn)

Version 1.2.2
  • Added an icon for Group quests, which displays to the right of the quest name
  • Changing display settings now requires a UI reload so the log loads properly

Version 1.2.1
  • Fixed an issue where long numbers in the category completion counters were dropping onto two lines.

Version 1.2.0
  • Combined separate "Completed" and "Not Completed" category lists into a single "All Quests" category list
  • Category lists now display "X/Y" completed
  • Added Settings menu:
    • List quests Alphabetically within categories, or by Completion state
    • Hide Missed Quests
  • Added icons for each state
  • Some Cyrodiil quests will now not be listed if they are not available for your Alliance
  • Quest Log now refreshes on Quest Completion, not every time you open it
  • Updated API version to 100031 (Greymoor)

Version 1.1.2
  • New Active Quests categories added for Alliance War (split from Cyrodiil), and Dungeons and Trials (split from Zones)
  • Additional categories also added to the Quest Log for Alliance War, Dungeons and Trials
  • Missed Quests now show in red

    • Known Issue: The drop-down doesn't show properly when reopening to a Not Completed category.

Version 1.1.0

    • This requires the new LibUespQuestData library as a Dependency

I first noticed them when I was doing a pass through your journal to complete quests I hadn't yet done on my main character. One is a daily from the Blackfeather Court's Bursar of Tributes in Clockwork City/The Brass Fortress, called "Glitter and Gleam". Completed or not, all of the other Clockwork City dailies are listed only once each. Since discovering this, I was able to pick up that same "Glitter and Gleam" quest on my main (who already did it before), and I completed it again with it flowing properly through the in-game journal. It was first listed and then properly cleared out within the in-game journal. But it's still listed in your journal log twice, once completed and once not. I also have only one character that hasn't yet done that quest, and it is in fact listed twice as unfinished in her log. That's what indicates to me that it's a dupe, and not just a stuck quest on one character.

The other duplicate that I found is called "The Oldest Ghost" under Trials. I don't do trials, so I don't know if there are actually 2 different quests, but it is listed twice as a repeatable in your journal. The UESP website gives no indication that there are any variations of the quest except that it's a Normal/Veteran thing. But it only has a single ID number listed for the quest. https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Online:The_Oldest_Ghost.

While researching the trial duplicate, I decided to see if other trial quests with Normal/Veteran variations were listed separately in your journal, and there seemed to be one missing, called "Of Stone and Steam". https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Online:Of_Stone_and_Steam. It's a Rockgrove trial weekly repeatable in Blackwood. I wasn't sure where it'd be listed because you have some trial quests listed under Trial, and some under the respective trial locations (ie "The Mage's Tower" under Aetherian Archive vs. "Into the Maw" under Trial). However, "Of Stone and Steam" was not listed under Rockgrove, nor Blackwood, nor Trial, nor even Dungeon. I didn't know where else to look, and concluded it was missing. As far as the duplicate aspect, "The Mages Tower" has both Normal and Veteran versions, but it's only listed once in your Journal log. Same with "Assaulting the Citadel", Normal & Veteran but listed once under Hel Ra Citadel.

I did a quick scan through all the zones in your journal, and "Glitter and Gleam" and "The Oldest Ghost" seemed to be the only two actual dupes that I could find, and "Of Stone and Steam" was the only one I could see missing.

I know that everyone has been pestering you for a Search function, and yes it would most definitely make this one of the best addons in the game. But perhaps rather than just repeat that, let me point you to a couple of addons that do have some sort of Search functions. That might help you determine how it might be added to the Journal. I'm sure there are others, but these are ones that I use and know that they have search functions in them -

Awesome Guild Store
ESO Master Recipe List
Inventory Insight

Another one that I don't use, but by its very nature, must have a search function in it is - Guild Store Searcher.

Thanks again for a great add-on.
Hey there! Thanks for the tips, I'll have a look at those add-ons and see if I can work out how their search functions work.

I'm not sure why there are two different versions of Glitter and Gleam, but it does check out in the database - one is 6110 and the other is 6024, suggesting possibly different types of treasures to be collected. Although it's possible that one is not currently active in-game. I'll add it to the list of duplicates.

The two different versions of The Oldest Ghost are from the two different versions of Craglorn (before and after the zone was reset in Update 12/One Tamriel); I must have forgotten to remove the old one.

Of Stone and Steam is a new quest with Blackwood, so it's likely that it wasn't logged before the database was updated. I can confirm that it's in the database now, so will be there when I next update the library file.
Thanks very much, I appreciate it.

Ah yeah that's quite likely given what its purpose is. Thanks!
Out of interest, do you have to code this sort of logic in or does ESO's API's not provide that sort of "quest exclusive" type info?
It's all coded, the API has very little accessible info in it at all.

Duplicate quest issue

Yeah there's probably a few that nobody found on PTS, so they weren't logged at the time. Assuming they've been logged since, they should appear in the next database update.

This is great and does exactly what I want. The only thing which bugs me is the "One of the Undaunted" quest is visible in all 3 zones (Glenumbra, Stonefalls and Auridon) and seeing as you can only complete it once, it will be shown as uncomplete in the journal in the other 2 zones.

3. Can you add a pop up info after clicking on the quest to see the details of this quest and the rewards for completing?

- C: Daily quests, with each quest actually having the daily-quest icon
- D: Dungeon/raid quests
- E: Finished quests

2. A search function to search for quest names just within the currently selected zone
If anyone can work out how to do any of these things, please do let me know! There's no flag in the game data for Zone Story quests though, so that would require more hard-coding. The more hard-coding there is, the longer it takes to load the add-on and the higher the potential for inaccurate data.

3. A more visually impactful color, e.g. green, for finished quests + using that color for every type of finished quest -> while skimming through the journal just looking at the color is way faster than looking for the OK-icon, which is especially prevalent with group quests like e.g. the Undaunted ones, which currently all have the same color and you need to focus on the OK-icon to see if you already did a quest or not
Yeah I want to improve the icons so that the check-mark is the easy indicator of completion and the other quests don't have an icon at all unless they're group quests. The completion colour matches the vanilla completion colour for Cadwell's Almanac (or at least, it was supposed to) but I can see what other colours are available.

4. The group-quest icon doesn't really make much sense for a lot of normal side quests: e.g. the quest "The Mountain Bellows" in Western Skyrim is listed as a group quest despite it being just another normal "Go there, do stuff and kill things" solo quest
I don't decide which quests get the group quest icon - it's possible that something has been logged incorrectly, but if ZOS has incorrectly labelled something as a group quest, that's on them. I could try to override it but that's more hard coding of data.
