LovelyEmotes  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)
Version: 4.28
by: ShinyBones [More]
This addon provides quick and easy access to emotes. (For mouse/keyboard users)

Aren't you tired of remembering each emote and typing its name into the chat? With this addon you can search a list of all available emotes and save up to 120 of your favorite emotes spread over 8 tabs. You can play emotes using a list, key bindings, or a radial/wheel menu.

I will improve the addon from time to time and add more features. If you have any problems, ideas or other feedback, feel free to let me know.
Thanks to all the people who helped me with comments to find bugs and improve this addon.

Depends on:
- LibAddonMenu

Features:
- Future emotes, categories and personalities are automatically added to the list
- Emote categories
- Supports all languages supported by ESO (translation of emotes, categories and personalities by ZeniMax)
- Fast and comfortable access to personalities
- Highlights emotes that are overridden by a personality
- Increase or decrease the number of favorites
- Radial quick menu to play your favorite emotes more comfortable
- Display localized names or slash names in the emote list (both in alphabetical order)
- Search bar: Search the emote list for a string to find your desired emote faster
- Synchronize emotes with other players (optional)
- Favorite commands: Add and play any available chat command as a favorite or in the emote list.
- Key bindings
- More in development...

Slash Commands:
- /letoggle (toggles the main window)
- /lesettings (opens the AddOn Settings menu)
- /lefavoritecommands (opens the favorite commands window)
- /lerandom (plays a random emote)

Favorite Commands:
In LovelyEmotes, you can add pretty much all the chat commands you want to use frequently as favorites.
To do this, open the favorite commands menu with the chat command "/lefavoritecommands". All chat commands added there will appear in the emote list under the category "Custom".
Note: When you select a command as a favorite, remember that a left click will also execute the command. Use the right mouse button for selection.

Modify Emotes:
In addition to the settings in the game, emotes themselves can also be configured through EmoteDataMod.lua file. Open the following file with a text editor and add the desired entries to the table:
LovelyEmotes/Modifications/EmoteDataMod.lua

In the same folder there is also a short manual to help you understand how it works.
Always remember to backup this file outside the "AddOns" folder because it will reset with each update.

Settings can be changed in the game under "Settings -> Addons -> LovelyEmotes".
Modify your key bindings under "Controls -> General -> LovelyEmotes".
See the pictures for a better overview of how this addon works.
For more information about new features, see the Change Log.

Version 2.0:
NOTE: Because of the changes it is unfortunately necessary to reassign your keys once.
- Added a "Radial Quick Menu" for mouse/keyboard users to make emoting more convenient. The radial menu will display all available favorites from the main window. This radial menu works like any standard radial menu in the game, but you have to assign a key first.
- Added a key binding for the new Radial Quick Menu.

Version 1.8:
- Added an option to automatically minimize the main window when the cursor is hidden (disabled by default).
- Added an option to toggle the cursor by pressing the key binding "Toggle Main Window" (disabled by default).
- Removed the "Use cursor key" option.

Version 1.7:
- Added setting to set the visibility of the minimized main window. Set the value less than 10 to hide the window instead of minimizing it.
- Support for character name changes.

Version 1.6.1:
- Fixed combat event bug.
- Refactoring

Version 1.6:
- Key bindings for favorites: You can assign a key for each selected favorite (up to 15 favorites can be selected). Even hidden favorites can still be played by pressing the set key.

Version 1.5.1:
- Added a keybind to toggle the main window (again and now forever).

Version 1.5:
- Highlight selected favorites: Whenever the emote list opened, the selected favorite button is highlighted to give you a better overview of which favorite to be replaced.
- I have decided to remove the keybind for toggling the main window. Instead, I added an additional setting in the "Addons" menu to toggle the main window using the ESO's own "Toggle In-Game Cursor" keybind. The main window expands and the mouse becomes visible at the same time. This is probably the more convenient solution. (Disabled by default)

Version 1.4:
- Added a keybind to toggle the main window (can be found under "Controls -> General -> LovelyEmotes").
- Fixed: Some button textures and sounds.

Version 1.3:
- I added a category box at the top of the emote list to make it easier to find the desired emotes. The categories are updated automatically. Translation by ZeniMax.
- Refactoring

Version 1.2:
- Added an option to start minimized (disabled by default).

Version 1.1:
- Minimizes in combat and shows up again when you leave the fight (enabled by default). Has no effect if the window is minimized by the player.
This is optional and can be disabled in the menu "AddOn Settings".

Hello Tes96,

so far, I have not found a satisfactory way to set a variable maximum number of tabs per user.
But I have already considered what you want in a past update, because another user also needed more tabs.

You can change 2 variables I have provided for this in one file:
- Open the file "Constants.lua" with any text editor. You can find it under "<path to addons folder>/LovelyEmotes/Files/Constants.lua".
- In line 4 you will find the variable "LE_Const_FavoriteEmotesTabIndexMax = 8".
Replace this line with "LE_Const_FavoriteEmotesTabIndexMax = 12" (without quotes).
- Now you can increase the number of tabs to 12 in the LovelyEmotes settings menu in the game. However, the window is most likely too small now.
Additionally, increase the value in line 10 of the variable "LE_Const_MainWindowBaseWidth = 300" to 370 (or whatever looks best for you) until the buttons no longer overlap.

You also want to bind these new tabs to your mouse buttons:
- Open the file "Bindings.xml" with a text editor of your choice. You will find the file in the same folder as the previous one.
- Insert the following lines between line 60 and 61:
Warning: Spoiler

If you need further help, feel free to ask.

ShinyBones, can you give us the option to have 12 tabs instead of 8? I use a 12-button gaming mouse and the ability to switch to any tab with my mouse would be wonderful. Really love your mod. And thank you for keeping it updated.

Hello Aheno,
sorry, I misinterpreted your first message.

What you describe already exists as a separate addon, so I see no need to add such a feature. I assume that there should be no conflicts if you use both addons. If there are conflicts I will gladly take a look at it. I also don't understand the advantage of having a dropdown menu in addition to the existing features. You can activate the emote list in the main window (it's the little list icon) and then turn the window on and off (now also through the optional chat button). A dropdown would then be the same again, just arranged differently.

I hope this answer helps you anyway.

No. I meant I don't want to see a separate window for emotes at all. Clicking the chat window button shows a dropdown menu of possible emotes, you select the emote you want, the chat window closes.

I don't want to see this floating by itself at any time.

Hello Aheno,
thank you for your suggestion. It's a good idea and not difficult to implement. I will upload an update soon that will include this feature.

Edit: I have uploaded a new version. Search for "Enable Chat Button" in the settings menu.

Hi! Can this be part of the main chat window as an option instead of a new individual floating icon please?

Thanks.

Re: Re: Suggestion

Thank you for your consideration

AutoEmote is pretty good. However it's not particularly user friendly as you have to set up all your triggers in the notepad document. It can be a little bit confusing to get these set up right. They do provide instructions, but if you've never done it before it's still a little bit of learning to get it right.

I liked that the other addon that no longer works had an in game menu to set them up.

The last update was 2020 I think but it still works. If it stops working, thank you for being open to adding the function to your addon ♥

Re: Suggestion

Hello Teknikah,

thank you very much for your suggestion. This is a very good idea and would fit well into LovelyEmotes. I already saw that you found a working alternative. Nevertheless, I will keep this in mind and am not averse to it if the alternative is no longer developed.

Suggestion

I recently stumbled across Circonians EmoteIt and it looks amazing for some dynamic flare when typing in the chat box.

However it's really out of date and because of this I can't configure it for how I want to use it

I was wondering if you would be willing to incorporate this kind of function into this addon?
Giving us the ability to set up keyword triggers to play emotes when we type in the chat box.

I was trying to set up triggers for phrases like "over here" using /beckon and "hey" using /wave before I realised I couldn't get this to work for anything other than the /Emote channel due to the addon menu drop down being broken.

They work brilliantly when I tested them in my house using the /Emote channel, but I'd really like these working in any of the chat boxes including /Zone. I don't RP with others so I don't use /Emote

Hi,

/teebawarmup and /spyglass are confirmed looped. I don't plan on getting /palelord but judging by the preview and previous seat emote behaviour, it's most likely also looped.

Hi Tes96,
there is already an option to start the main window minimized.
To find the option, type "/lesettings" in the chat. The options menu of LovelyEmotes will open. Scroll down a bit and search for "Start Minimized" and activate this option.

If you need further help, feel free to ask.

Question Option to disable menu at startup?

@ShinyBones, could you add an update to this that lets us toggle off the startup menu? Every time I load my character, the menu screen pops up and there is no way to disable that. It takes up so much screen space too. Other than that, great mod!
