Harven's Mute NPCs  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)
Version: 0.7
by: Harven [More]
This addon will mute voice-over volume and restore it only when certain events trigger - like npc conversation or npc say/yell. You can change following settings:
- enable/disable VO in conversations with NPCs,
- same for NPCs say/yell,
- only enable VO when NPC says/yells something you hear for the first time,
- set dialogue volume for bankers.

In general it is similar to outdated Borrower And Lender - NPC Muter but I took a different approach.

I can add separate dialogue volume sliders for merchants and other special NPCs if needed, just let me know in the comments

Donations
If you like my work you can make me happy by sending some in-game gold/items to @theharven on EU server (but please, no lockpicks ), eventually you can help me pay my monthly subscription by donating some money.

[Edit 09.31.2015]
Since monthly subscription is no longer required to play the game I decided to transfer all future dontations to charity. There is a polish site where you can chose a person you would like to support (mostly children) https://www.siepomaga.pl/. I will be anonymously transfering your donations there, to a person of my choosing and then I will post a link in The Great Donor Hall so you will know who gets your money I would love to help this people so I hope this doesn't discourages you from donating.

Specific Mobs On

I mute bankers, awesome! I like the listen to only once option which removes many annoyances to the game. I could use an option to always hear certain mobs, such as Molag Bal during Dolmens, the announcer at Kvatch Arena, etc.

Thanks for the great work!

Hry Augmenti-DeMontia,
maybe it's conflicting with my in-combat audio volume addon. Try disabling it and let me know how if it fixed your problems.

Besides I'm not sure if you understand how exacly this addon works. It basically sets the VO volume to 0 and only unmute it when certain events happen (depending on your settings). Then after the event is finished it sets it back to 0.

After more testing, it seems there is a problem. When I only have Bankers, off, the mod is still shutting off Dialog for all the /say and /tell each time I zone. Think, I'm going to try the previous build and manually set the version to 000014.

Thanks for any help.

Thanks, again for this great sanity saving mod!

Edit: NM, I see it's a trade-off and how you are able to mute the /say and /yells. I can just leave it set to 0, until I'm doing a quest, then I'll just turn it back on.

Can someone please look at my HarvensMuteNPC.lua and tell me why Dialogue Volume is set to 0 every time I zone? I keep trying to set the Dialog volume to 30, unless it's a Repeated line or a banker, both should set to 0.

Yet the mod (I disabled and it stopped) keeps setting ALL dialog to 0, when I zone. I.e. if I'm doing a quest and not in direct dialog (volume working during direct dialog) I can't hear the NPCs right in front of me sharing information about the quest, because the Master Dialog volume is set to 0. I checked the Saved Variable file, but it mostly looks like it just stores spoken dialog to prevent repeats. It does not look like it sets volume with functions.

Thanks for any help.

Anyway to mute specific NPCs via mouse over?
I'd love to mute the Khajiit in Raw'lka who yells all about the naughty one in the stocks.

Can you tell me if this has any effect on Enchanting Table Rune voiceover?

Rapidchant seems hit or miss for me now.

Thanks again for your work on this mod!

It's working great and was wondering what you would think about having a volume slider for NPC Yells/Says, instead of an on/off?

Thanks this mod, it works great!

What a relief, so tired of listening to the same npcs saying the same things for the 10,000th time! I have mine set to only hear random npc comments once, muted bankers, hearing quest npcs and hearing merchants.
