AutoInvite  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)
Version: 2.5.0
by: Sasky, Ayantir, silentgecko
Overview

Simple auto-invite addon - intended for use in Cyrodiil to quickly setup a group invite string without diving into menus. Since expanded to be a part of the group tab, but original slash commands still exist for quickly turning on and off.

Features
  • Slash commands to quickly enable or disable inviting, and regrouping
  • Stop sending invites when reach group limit
  • Change the group limit (when to stop invites)
  • Options panel as separate tab in group menu
  • Settings (except for actually running) are saved between loads
  • Option to only invite players in Cyrodiil (for guild invites)
  • Option to restart invite after someone leaves group
  • Option to auto-kick members after set amount of time offline
  • Button to re-form the group
  • Keybindings to reinvite or regroup the group

Localization
Translations have been provided by the following people
  • French - Provision
  • German - silentgecko
  • Japanese - Lionas
  • Russian - ForgottenLight

Usage
Open the group menu and there is a tab (far right) for AutoInvite settings. Set the invite string and any other settings then check enable. Now anyone who types that message (exactly) in chat will have an invite sent.

Alternatively you can use the slash commands to quickly start/stop and for when you want to start/stop without opening any menus.

Known Issues/Limitations
  • The regroup function doesn't work well through group leader bug.
  • Queue display is not in-order for position in queue.
  • No right click on the mini-group (for kick, travel to, etc).
  • Sometimes the mini-group list on the AutoInvite tab doesn't update properly. There is a button included to force an update if that's the case.

Slash commands
These are for very quick access or for debugging purposes.
  • /ai - Turn off AutoInvite. Emergency stop button of sorts
  • /ai foo - Set string to 'foo' and start inviting
  • /aidebug - Turn on debug logging to chat window. Note: this can be rather verbose.

Example
You're a raid leader and have some spots to fill.
  1. Type /ai xx in chat message to start listening for 'xx' message in chat
  2. Advertise yourself in chat ("Type xx for Bleakers raid group")
  3. Sit back and let the addon manage sending invites

Great idea for an addon. Will this also work from guild chat /g1-/g5?

Just a quick note for compatibility that the slash command /ai for AutoInvite is the same as for AwesomeInfo. I don't know what issues this will cause.

I'm pondering whether there should be some sort of standard to prevent this as there's bound to be other addons with conflicts as there's only so many combinations of two letters.

I'm fine with changing the slash command for Awesome Info, as it's only used for testing purposes anyway (I'll do that tonight).

Depending on how load order works, it'll overwrite one or the other, so only one of the commands will work.
Perhaps as addon authors we could start a wiki page index with what commands we're using, since paging through all addons to check isn't scalable.

There's no filtering of channel, so it should work for any chat.

I changed mine to /ainfo so not an immediate issue, but I think you're right, there should be a page on the wiki for slash commands, possibly also for namespace variables.

Its only working via zone chat for my guild.
Is the perhaps related to the issue with the default UI that does not let you right click and invite from guild chat?

Indirectly, yes. Looks like having issues sending invite to account name, which is what it provided in guild chat. Will start testing fix hopefully tonight (code looks up character name for the account and sends invite to character.) Will also be double-checking whispers to account name (eg from friends list) to make sure those work.

One thing to keep in mind for inviting through guild -- a lot of times it'll crash people in the group if someone outside Cyrodiil is added to the Cyrodiil group. Still thinking it over, but I could put in a check to not add someone if a) they aren't in Cyrodiil and b) the group leader is in Cyrodiil.

After testing it the whole day,

that autoinvit function should be turned on again automaticly, when someone leaves and free slots get aviable again after turning off at max member invited

Go ahead and use the author portal. It lets keep discussion of specific features separate.(http://www.esoui.com/portal.php?id=75&a=listfeatures for submitting)

These two are fairly simple to implement - the problem is I don't want it to be part of the default behavior necessarily. As well, part of the goal of this addon is to be quick to setup or change. This means I will NOT be using a settings page, which makes optional features a little trickier.

Right now I'm kind of thinking these could be the equivalent of command line flags (since this is essentially a command line utility). So for restarting when space in group, something like "/ai -r foo"

For now, easiest way is to pick a slightly less common invite string to look for, then only advertise in guild chat. If you pick 'X', you might get random, but I doubt many people go around typing 'xqvt' in zone.

This maybe out of the scope of your addon, but it's the main one I use related to this bug, so I figured id request this:

I mainly use this to work around the annoying issue where my rightclick menu doesn't work in chat/guild often, and my friends lits is very long to scroll though.

So could you potentially fix that?

EG:
Add a different, 100% always there invite to party option to the rightclick menu.

The games version is buggy as i think it tries to be context sensitive, detecting if people are already in parties, but it fails like 90% of the time, especially with all the group bugs.

So a consistant, player created version would be better.

Ps: thanks for the addon, it works well as the description says for what I use it for (guild chat group forming)

Yeah, that is a little bit of a different scope, and would be in a separate addon if I made it. For making an addon, it shouldn't be too bad to override the default handler, it'd just be creating the tooltip. I'm messing around with the UI functions for another addon I'm making, and they're rather finicky.

Personally, I use a version of pChat that shows character names in guild chat - letting you right click and invite reliably from guild chat. I think pNames is the plugin for pChat for guild names (or can be used stand-alone). Alternatively, there is a built-in "/invite" command you can use.

Wobin made the addon I requested already, so thats solved =)

Feature request for yours tho:

I use it a lot, especially when doing lots of vr dungeon runs. Due to this I want it to pretty much just stay on all the time when I set it. Now it seems to turn itself off after a full grp or reloadui or relog or other stuffs..

So maybe another command like:

/ai keyword always

The always part meaning, keep it on always. (or forever, or permanent or whatever word you thinks cool)
