Advanced Game Settings  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)
Version: 1.0.1

This addon exposes a number of useful in-game settings.

Why use this addon instead of editing UserSettings.txt?

Many of these settings have previously been accessible to users in the past by manually editing UserSettings.txt. The problem with manually editing (aside from the usual hassles of manually editing a settings file) is that you must exit the game, make the changes, and then start the game up again in order to have the changes take effect. This addon will allow users to make changes instantly, without having to restart the game.

Set a maximum frame rate limit

By default, the frame rate in ESO is uncapped. One extreme example of how an uncapped frame rate can be a problem is the login screen, where frame rates can easily exceed 1000, causing 100% GPU usage on a screen where there is nothing to see. People may recall that New World at one point had crazy high uncapped frame rates in their menu screens that some suspect may have contributed to the bricking of some GPUs.

Also, since you won't be able to see or notice any FPS that's far above your monitor's refresh rate, capping the frame rate at or slightly above your monitor's refresh rate might help lower your GPU usage and reduce the amount of heat that your computer is pumping out in the hot summer months.

Skip startup logos

This will disable the logo videos that play when you launch the game. You'll be taken directly to the login screen, without having to hit keys to skip past the Bethesda logo (and others).

Disable detail texture maps

Some people like to use this setting to make Felms' Manifest Wrath waves (aka, the "bacon") in Asylum Sanctorium appear more conspicuous.

Language

This lets users change between different languages for the game client (changing the language will cause a reload of the UI). This can be useful for addon developers to test how their addon looks in another language, or it could be useful for someone who wants to read a lorebook in a different language.
  • Version 1.0.1 (2021/08/14)
    • Added a note clarifying that changes to the frame rate limit will persist only after logging out to character select
    • Added the ability to select additional languages; these languages are unsupported for most players and will not work unless a player's game supports it

  • Version 1.0.0 (2021/08/13)
    • Initial version
