Yes it is instant and works in combat. BTW I was trying to make this addon a bit more advanced by introducing alternative timed keybind, that would switch setting only for x seconds (as I keep forgetting to switch back after I am done with placing siege), but since I am bad at programming, all I achieved was completely hanging the game for amount of second specified  Edit: Nevermind, there is actually built in ZOS function to just that easily
