Mute NPC Dialogue v. 1.5
---------------------------------------------

Description
The Mute NPC Dialogue addon give you the option to mute and unmute an individual NPC's spoken dialogue and chat each time you talk to them.

Use
When you begin a dialogue with any NPC in the game, a small movable box will pop up with two buttons. One for muting the dialogue you are hearing and another for unmuting a previously muted dialogue from that NPC.

Mutes are done on a per dialogue basis, not a per NPC basis (API limitation). So if you mute one dialogue from a particular NPC, you may continue to hear them speak other pieces of dialogue (which you can mute separately). Your mute list is saved between play sessions and can be reset at any time in the settings.

Please help spread the word about this addon if you find it useful!

See the changelog below for a list of new features and bug fixes.

Settings
User Interface
The UI box for this addon can be moved around to any position on screen. This box may be locked/unlocked in place in the addon settings.

If you do not want to see the UI box with the mute/unmute buttons, but still want the functionally of this addon, simply select the option to hide the UI from the Mute NPC Dialogue settings menu. Then use the built in slash commands to operate the addon.

Volume
"Mute" volume can be changed in the addon's settings. You can choose to have your "muted" dialogues play at any volume you wish, though volume 1 is the default.

Stuck Volume Fix
Due to conflicts with other volume type addons that you may have installed, the Mute NPC Dialogue addon may cause the volume to become stuck at 0 or your mute level. To fix this, either uninstall the conflicting addons or use the 'stuck volume fix' from the setting menu and set your desired 'unmute volume level'. This is OFF by default. Note: This will override your NPC volume setting in ESO's main audio settings and should be set to the same desired level.

Commands
The slash commands are as follows:

/mutedialogue to mute the NPC's dialogue
/unmutedialogue to unmute the NPC's dialogue

Known Bugs and Issues
This addon may not work well with other mute type mods.
  • Known conflict with 'Borrower and Lender' addon. Othe volume changing addons may conflict as well. Please use the 'stuck volume fix' from the settings if you are experiencing problems with your volume getting stuck at 0 or the mute level.

Future Development
If there is sufficient interest in this addon, I will develop a way to mute/umute globally spoken dialogue. This is the dialogue you hear NPCs speak, while adventuring, but not talking to them specifically. Let me know if you are using the addon and want this feature!

Contact and Bug Reports
This is my first LUA script and game addon/mod so please be gentle . If you have comments, suggestions, bugs, questions about my coding or anything else, the best way to reach me is by email (click on my name at the top of this page) or PM. I'm also available in game @Magicka_Missile by in game mail or PM. I may not be as responsive to PMs in game though. I know this is a minor addon, but if you are enjoying it, donations are always very much appreciated!

Thanks
Just a quick thanks to ESOUI for hosting this addon. To awesomebilly for his 'Sample Application' learning addon and to Seerah for the LibAddonMenu.
Changelog
v1.5
  • Mutes and unmutes now happen immediately when clicking a button from the UI. This is in addition to being saved or removed from your mute list for future interactions with the NPC. Thanks to baitlate for the idea.
  • Added a new 'stuck volume fix' toggle and 'unmute volume level' to the addon settings. This was done to fix an issue people with certain other conflicting addons were getting, where the volume would get stuck at 0 or the mute level. OFF by default.
  • Renamed addon to 'Mute NPC Dialogue' in some places. The folder and files remain 'MuteDialogue' for upgrade compatibility.

v1.1
  • Added more debugger info

If I understand you correctly, then yes that is both intended and a limitation of the API. After you save a dialogue to the mute list, it isn't checked for until you next start a dialogue with an NPC.

That's funny about the campfire! I was in debugger mode yesterday and apparently a book is considered an NPC dialogue lol
Ah, i expected that. Guess it's not that big of a deal anyways
